As always Grain Of Salt.

Look nice

  • Rocket is the same mini-BAF with a new head and gun.
  • Drax is on the Hyperion body which is much better version and better color scheme.
  • Star Lord is the exact same as the SDCC one.
  • Groot is using the movie BAF with a new head, obviously.
  • Gamora (the main reason to buy this) seem to be using the Bigger female mold and has Black Knights sword.)

Kind of disappointed to be honest. The Star-Lord, Drax, and Rocket we have from the comics are all in their post Annihilation Conquest uniforms. Gamora is in the correct costume but it doesn't look like it's GotG colors but rather what she had before that. The figure looks great but the deco is a disappointment. Groot, even worse. At least Gamora could be repainted somewhat easily, but Groot doesn't have his uniform at all. I really hope this picture isn't the final product or that there's a variant of some kind. I loved DnA's GotG and I was looking forward to having most of the core team in their series uniforms. Oh well, rant over.

Hm... The packaged mock-up seems to include the "Groot sapling"... wasn't that a Marvel Universe piece??? Would that be a first crossover between the two lines??

not really. I can't remember which but their has been other crossovers. also, that Strapling is going to be a bit bigger then that.

actually the price seems pretty reasonable, 3 main figure with 1 former BAF and 1 mini-baf and a f""" load of asserories interchangeable hand and heads.

given that the standard ML is around 20 dollars and this is a exclusive, 120 is a good price. it was almost the same with the X-men First class set,

Not what I was expecting.

In stark contrast to (in my opinion) the efforts put into the regular lines, another exclusive set comes along riddled with questionable choices.

And then there's the money.

Strapped for cash because Hasbro has doubled their output compared to last year, I'm offered a set for (let's include the discount) $100,- ... plus another $100 for shipping?!? Let's start calculating taxes: Yep, that's a grand total of $250 for five figures.

Maybe instead of this they could have released Gamora with a sculpted hood/cape as a single exlusive for whatever store. That would have freed them up to sell this box set (replacing Star Lord with Thanos featuring a different head sculpt and the possibility of wearing his infinity Gauntlet and having Gamora in her modern costume) as an SDCC exclusive, breaking their bad habit of offering characters at SDCC that never see regular releases. Then in 2016 they could release a wave of GotG with a clothed Groot BAF, Rocket with articulated legs (and Cosmo to fill out the box), Mantis, Adam Warlock, Phylla Vell, Moondragon, Bug and Star Lord (finally seeing a regular release for his comic costume). None of these figures would require much (if any) resculpting, but they would fill a hole in many fan collections.

Just my somewhat dissapointed two cents.

I hear you, I'm pretty disappointed myself. I was picturing all five figures in their blue and red uniforms from Abnett and Lanning's Guaridans, and this is what we got instead. You made a lot of great points. I'm a huge fan of the GotG from the DnA days so to me what you're suggesting would be perfect. Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to stomach this less than perfect set for a closer Groot and Gamora to the DnA days. Still a major disappointment though.

I am excited for this set but my wallet cannot take that hit especially with all the other Legends product out right now. There are a few turn-offs in there as well... That Groot head, while very nice, looks bad on that body. The head just looks so big and wide compared to the thin BAF body. I am also curious as to see the Gamora figure without that poor looking soft-goods cloak thing.

I really want to round out a comic version of the team but I think I'll cherry pick on eBay once these are released. I have the older Drax, BAF Rocket, and the BAF Groot (I know it is the movie figure but it stands in ust fine in my opinion). So now it is all about Star-Lord and Gamora. I am hoping that picking Star-Lord up from eBay will not be aweful as its his second release. Gamora will likely be tricky and expensive...

Hate to beat a dead horse, but brothers and sisters, this is how it should be done!

4 (that's FOUR) completely new figures, and even the ONE repack is actually a variant that makes sense (astral form). Oh, did I mention two of those new figures are of characters that have never . . . EVER been made into action figures before? Plus, an Eye of Agamoto, and what is possibly the nicest specialized packaging I have ever seen. And all for 99.99.

Of course those of us that can't make it to SDCC will have to pay a bit more, but for this set, I'll be glad to foot the bill.

dude I hate to say this but your arguement is slightly flaud. for one thing the set is for the SDCC. the SDCC exclusive will always have new character in it and would be a better set to buy. that why they make it exclusive to get people coming to their booth.

Store exclusive will always be lesser quality then the main line and the SDCC. tell me have you ever seen a store exclusive that's not A. has well known characters in it, b. not based on some movie, or c. just a bunch of kitbash or repaints?
