Most Wanted Comic Figures?

BradMan

Recommended Posts

Without rehashing any of the comic vs MCU debates, what comic style figures are at the top of peoples wishlists?

Assuming that Spider-Man, X-Men, and Avengers characters remain separated in respective waves, are there characters within each group that are glaring omissions?

I know I have my opinions and my favorites, but I am curious as to what other people are hoping to see.

all of the suggestion above especially Firestar who has been my number 1 want for years.

More of the original Guardians as well. Vance looks lonely and MCU Yondu is not working with it.

We are getting more Alpha Flight so I wouldn't worry about that.

I would also like an Original Human Torch as it has been one of the most obvious variant that both TB and Hasbro have skipped over the years.

Also give the main Avengers and X-men teams a rest as give us some of the more obscure teams like Exiles or Force works.

Aside from the inexplicable omission of Strong Guy from any iteration of any ML line, the list is almost too long.

I am of the same opinion as Mako, that there still has, yet to be a "perfect" Hulk in the Hasbro era of ML. The McGuinness Hulk had no ankle pivot & the Doc Banner hulk was not a true comic Hulk cuz it used an MCU body sculpt. Beside the fact that it was a HTF exclusive, it just doesn't fit in aesthetically with other "Big Hitters" in the line like Rhino & Juggernaught. Hell, I wouldnt even mind if they just do a modern Amadeus Hulk, as he is one of the few Champions left to be done, and included a Banner Hulk or Savage Hulk (or even both) swap head.

In the same vein, Thor could also use an update with ankle pivot. I wouldn't even so much mind if the gave him the Ares treatment and just used the last good Thor figure they made before Jane Foster took over and replace his lower legs with parts from the Odin BAF. I could just imagine the package swap breakout that would follow that, tho. I imagine now that Thor is "Thor" again (finally), a new one will follow in short order. Hopefully his new design will be more towards his original look, tho I think the eye patch will be a permanent fixture from now on.

Lol, I love the Hyperion on non-Hyperion mold. How bout using his black and gold suit as well? And also, how bout a pair of fist and open interchangeable hands?

I think a vehicle set will give us a "perfect" modern comic Cap, just as it was done with Black Widow and hopefully the same can be done for a comic version of Winter Soldier who they have yet to do.

I too am in the Firestar camp, but I think they will eventually do it and knock it outta the park. Also put me in the group that think a Tigra is badly in need of an update and add Quicksilver to that list. Maybe with the acquisition of the mutant properties we'll actually see that happen and maybe even an Uncanny Avengers Rogue (fingers crossed).

Lastly, the biggest comic based omissions from the ML line in my opinion thus far are modern Star Lord and Gamora in her battle armor, both of whom could have easily been done in any one of the GOTG waves or even as a 2 pack, yet for reasons unknown & completely irrational, have never been done, or even implied to this point.

Id love to see a release of an updated beast. Either his Jim lee appearance or the uncanny feline version both would be welcome additions to my X-Men teams.

Though both versions are great ideas, I think the feline version should definitely be done 1st (or if only one can be done) simply because the "Jim Lee" version still stocks up with today's Legends. Besides, I don't think Hasbro could match the Toybiz figure's articulation. I can stand the Beast on one hand. If they (Hasbro) can match that, I'm all for it.

Here's my most wanted comic figures:

  • Gambit (Modern, based on his last solo series)
  • Kaine Scarlet Spider (new body mold with better articulation than the last one)
  • Quasar (Phyla Vell/GotG)
  • Bug (DnA GotG)
  • Jack Flag (DnA GotG)
  • Moondragon (DnA GotG)
  • Mantis (DnA GotG)
  • Quasar (Wendel Vaughn/Annihlators)
  • Groot (Red and blue GotG uniform)
  • Gamora (Red and blue GotG uniform)
  • Sauron
  • Mephisto
  • The Watcher

Obviously this only scratches the surface, there's quite a few left to do though.

Yeah I completely agree, I just cant imagine has to giving us a feline beast with it being an outdated appearance for the character and with their goal of remaking the Jim lee team

I think either one is completely viable. It just depends on which approach Hasbro decides to take. Do they want to try and redeem themselves for the POS they layed in the Nemesis wave or do they wanna take a shot at outdoing the awesome TB version? Personally, I think it would be much easier to redo their first attempt at the feline version cuz it's a much bigger task to try to unseat the TB version (unless the do it as a BAF, a la the new Lizard figure....hmmmm). But between the two, a more classic version is probably much more desirable among the fans.

If they can get it right, definitely desired by me.

I don't see how Hasbro would have ANY trouble outdoing TBs Beast figure, they've blown them away on every other figure they've redone.

As for Cat-Beast? It would be such a tragedy if they went with that as opposed to the real one.

I hope you're right, because if any are done, I believe it would be that version simply because they've been giving us a diet of Jim Lee style characters for the past couple years.

As usual, I was stricken with a plethora of obvious choices after my initial picks. I have a few that I know a lot of others must be on board for as well.

1. Night Thrasher - another one that can utilize the Blade buck with some minor adjustments

2. Speedball - I always thought this was a no brainer, but apparently not. Easy reuse of the Pizza Spidey buck.

3. Quake/Slingshot - easy twofer for twice the sales. A repaint of the new Black Widow mold with interchangeable head sculpts & forearm sculpts. Wanna triple up on sales, include a SHIELD agent helmet head.

4. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl - how the Hell did we miss this one. I know it's just a matter of time, but no one's said it yet.

5. Ant-Man (Hank Pym) - easily done with either the ANAD Spidey 2099 buck or Bucky Cap buck.

6. Hydro Man/Scorpion/Tarantula - any one of these guys from the Spidey Rogues Gallery would be well recieved, tho I believe Hydro Man is the most deserving at this point, having never recieved the ML treatment before.

7. Monet or Siryn - two awesome X-characters that have long been ignored. Take your pick of any number of female bucks that can be used for either of these.

8. Iron Patriot/War Machine - the versions of these they made were actually pretty good but, still haven't got a true comic version of either.

As I said, I can go on & on and I'm sure I'll think of a few more as soon as I post this but it's a start.

Since I started the thread I guess I should add my own thoughts to the mix...

1. Jim Lee Gambit

I may be in a minority, but I would prefer a molded trench coat over a soft goods coat. That being said, in a perfect world Gambit would have arms that pop out at the shoulder like the upcoming Mr. Fantastic, and would include a set of arms without the coat sleeves. Also, I would love the regular head sculpt with the classic messy shorter hair style and then another headsculpts with the longer hair style Gambit sometimes sported in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Classic shorter hair:

Longer hair:

2. Unbeatable Squirel Girl

I also cant believe, especially since we have Spider-Gwen and are getting Gwenpool, that we havent seen Squirrel Girl yet.

3. Occupy Avengers Hawkeye

Since we got the retro Toy Biz Black Widow and are getting the one with her motorcycle soon I have been able to stop looking for the one from the Winter Soldier two Pack. Now that leaves Hawkeye as my only main avenger that Im missing. I just cant justify spending $40 - $60 on the Rocket Raccoon series version when I really dont think its a well done figure. The Occupy Avengers costume is more or less the same and would give collectors like me a chance to pick up a modern Hawkeye.

4. Warpath

Im still hoping that a 90s X-Force Warpath is part of the Deadpool series and just hasnt been announced. But, if not, hes toward the top of the list for my X-Men related characters.

5. Beast

Like everyone else, Im hoping for a new Jim Lee style Beast to complete my Blue Team. I think an alternate new ape style head and gauntlet could be included so that he would also be able to create his current Uncanny Inhumans look.

6. Secret Empire Captain America

We got the figure in the (dead?) 3 3/4 Universe scale, so it only makes sense to get a Legends version too.

7. Kingpin

I know this has been on everyones list for years.

8. Doctor Strange (Last Days of Magic)

I know we got a pretty lame repack in the Doctor Strange wave, but I would love just one more Doctor Strange figure that represents his current look. The rolled up sleeves, cool facial hair bros looking head, and medival weapons are something we havent seen. Plus, add in some alternate lower arms with gloves and an alternate head and you have a classic Doctor Strange that Hasbro has never done.

9. Totally Awesome Hulk

10. Unstoppable Wasp (Nadia Pym)

Your choice of course, but whenever anyone brings up molded capes/coats I ask the same question. What's the point of all that articulation if the figure is saddled with a coat that won't even let them sit down? You might as well buy a statue.

As for the Quake question: It depends. I would take either version..., but, if we're specifically talking comic versions, I'd prefer the original design. If AOS figures, which I've wanted figures of FOREVER, were on the table, I'd need the TV version with a spot-on Chloe Bennet likeness complete with the new face printing tech.

That's a valid argument. How's this suggestion; Do the same thing with caped figures like they did with Gamora from the EE boxset; she got 2 capes. 1 hard and the other was soft goods. I don't think it's needed for every caped, cloaked or coated character, but for the Dr Dooms and Magnetos of the world where it makes sense to pose them sitting, this could be a thing.

Time to throw out my choices;

Just like my new best friend Monron is "Team Strong Guy" for life (I'm on that team as well by the way), I'm always and forever "Team Sauron", but you all already know this.

Gambit (Jim Lee). We have to get the 90's X-Men completed. This of course also means:

Beast (Jim Lee if Hasbro can pull it off)

Kenuchio Harada Silver Samurai

Senyaka

Exodus

The Marauders (Arclight, Blockbuster, Harpoon, Prism, Scalphunter)

Stegron BAF

Will-O-The-Wisp

Doctor Octopus (Trenchcoat)

Man-Ape

Killmonger (comic)

Skurge the Executioner BAF

Mangog BAF (obviously)

Warriors Three (Fandral, Hogun, Volstagg)

Mandarin (don't know if I want classic or current)

Titanium Man BAF (classic)

Crimson Dynamo (classic)

Wendigo BAF (now that the Rhino, Abomination, Juggernaut and the Hulk himself will get a redo in the Gladiator Hulk scale are the sizes they are, the Wendigo needs a re-scaling)

A-Bomb

Lyra the Savage She-Hulk (w/waist articulation and double jointed elbows)

Falcon (current)

Death Adder

Sidewinder

Elektra (updated)

Stick

Stone (Hand soldier)

Gorgon

Karnak

Cystal

Lockjaw BAF

Count Nefaria

Graviton

Blue Marvel

America Chavez

Galactus the Lifebringer (Gold) BAF

I have more, but this list is crazy as it is!

Surely wendigo is easily done. Just a retooling of Sasquatch with new paintwork

Lol, what Ruk, no Reavers? Skullbuster, Pretty Boy, Macon, Cole & Reese along with a badass Bonebreaker BAF. I've never heard of anyone other than myself requesting the Mauraders. Good pull. I know it's a huge longshot but either one of em would make a helluva box set, wouldn't it?

I got a few more:

1. Longshot - speaking of longshots. The last one's pretty dated. Time for an update.

2. Maverick - where u at, bro? There were some rumblings last year. He's been MIA ever since.

3. Kane/Weapon Zero - see comments regarding Maverick.

4. Blink - hasn't happened yet & not sure why. Such a simple repaint.

5. Marrow - awesome character who's bound to resurface some time during Marvel's Rebir....err, Legacy. A few alternate head sculpts would be cool.

6. Molly Hayes (not Molly Hernandez) - bout the only Runaway that's remotely interesting at this point.

7. Viv Vision - one of the few Champions that hasn't been done yet, tho I'm sure it's just a matter of time cuz, similar to America Chavez, she hits too many racial/social/political checkmarks to ignore for much longer.

8. Doc Samson - The last one was bad....like super bad. Not in the good way, either.

9. Nova or Firelord - need some Heralds representation, once Silver Surfer gets done (eventually!).

10. Mordo - needless to say, the MCU version was about as lame a figure that there is, we just need the comics version now.

11. A-Bomb - we got him in MU form, why not ML. Some adjustments to the Abomination is all it would take.

12. Echo - need some more cool figures from the Daredevil-verse and she would be really easy to do.

As usual, just scratching the surface & I'm sure I'll be back with another bunch picks.
