  1. BLACK FRIDAY SALE! If you guys have been hesitant on picking up a copy, this is the weekend for you. My Marvel Legends guide is 50% off the cover price ($29.99 on sale for $15) from now until Sunday at Midnight (11/27). This is not a permanent discount, it's just a Black Friday thing that was brought about due to my annoyance with the terrible Black Friday ads I've been seeing all week with hardly any good deals. So I thought I'd make my own :D Go ahead and pass it on to your friends or pick one up for them while you're at it. http://roshansguides.bigcartel.com/
  2. Just a head's up to everyone in the Chicago area. I'll be at booth 238 in the East Prarie Events center at the Chicago Toy Show this weekend at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles, IL. The book will be there for sale as well as James Kavanaugh's GI Joe RAHC guide. For those of you who were hoping to buy a book in New York last week, I apologize. While I was at the show, I couldn't afford a full booth. Basically I was setup to do Big Apple Con and it was canceled and by the time it was canceled I couldn't get an artist alley booth. So given that, I'm giving you guys a $5 off coupon this weekend so you don't have to pay shipping since I wasn't there to pick it up in person. The code at the website roshansguides.bigcartel.com is LINDSEY, and will give you free shipping in the US.
  3. Has anyone found these in the midwest yet? For the price I spent in gas driving to walmarts every other day for the last month I could have just bought them on ebay.
  4. I had some requests for a full preview of the book on video. I picked up a good chunk of my order last night and whipped up a quick video for those who wanted a full look at the book in it's finished form:
  5. I totally understand where you're coming from. I've got about $300 squirreled away for all the new stuff coming out this month. Like that cursed 6" Loki that everyone can seem to find except me :( This time of year is always the most fun for toy hunts.
  6. Damn, I need that Loki. Took a road trip this weekend and he wasn't in any western wisconsin or southeastern minnesote Walmarts yet. Bigbear, maybe sin can get a figure now that we have Fear Itself. Batroc is a long shot, but damn I would love to see that guy.
  7. Hello all, the time has arrived, the printers have given me the arrival date for this Friday and I'm proud to announce that Roshan's Guide to Marvel Legends is now available for purchase here: Roshan's Guides — Roshan's Guide to Marvel Legends For those of you who didn't see the preview in July here's the lowdown: A little over a year ago I decided to start a reference guidebook to Marvel Legends. One of the big reasons for the move was the loss of marvellegends.net last year due to it being hacked (and it's a happy coincidence that the site is just coming back online in the last few days). It was my favorite online site for Marvel Legends and the sudden loss of it made me realize that a line of the importance of Marvel Legends needed a tangible reference guide that anyone could have on hand anytime they needed it. I had an extensive Legends collection already since I'd collected from the beginning but through my research I was surprised by all the little things I discovered that I never saw on the shelves (in particular some of the lesser known figure variations). It was a much longer journey than I anticipated to come to this point, but I wanted to make sure I uncovered every stone in the line that made it into stores. The end result is a 160 page reference guide to the greatest Marvel action figure line ever made (sorry Universe fans, I'm biased on this one). The book contains every figure released in the Marvel Legends line along with every variant and numerous variations. I have also included all of the Classics sub-lines: Fantastic Four, Hulk, Spider-Man (series 1 and 2) and X-Men as well as every Marvel Select release up until Juggernaut released earlier this year. There are over 1000+ photos of the 500+ figures in the guide. All photos are full color on sturdy glossy paper. There are bio cards for each figure indicating accessories, size, rarity and comic books included. There are three preview pages on the store page, and here are some additional preview shots (images are lower rez than the actual book to reduce load time on a forum page): If you wish to check out the book in person, I'll be at the following conventions this fall with copies to flip through and purchase: Power-Con - Los Angeles, CA - September 24-25 (I'll be a fan at this show, but I'll have books in my backpack, just flag me down) New Jersey Collector's Con - Cherry Hill, NJ - October 9 New York Comic Con - New York City NY - October 13-16 Chicago Toy Show - Deerfield, IL - October 23 Wizard World Austin - Austin, TX - November 11-12 All Iowa Joe Meet - Des Moines, IA - November 13 The first orders will go out this Friday direct from the press. There was a one day delay on the ship date so I'm going to pick up this week's orders personally from the press so you'll get them by early next week. I'm also going to do a series of giveaways for the book, the first being an ID contest. Here is the inside cover of the book: The first person who can name the mountain that is to the left of Captain America in the picture (in the background, not the one he's standing on) gets a free copy of the book. The only clue I'll give is that it is a mountain in the United States and it's over 12,000 feet high. If this one's a stumper, don't worry, I'll have more comic related events down the road. EDIT: Looks like we already have a winner. On a different board, Mt. Lindsey was the correct answer.
  8. Who knows, but given past history I would say no. This is an entirely new line as far as retail is concerned with a larger size than the Universe figures. When the toy aisles get reset in January and February this is generally when we'd see the line hit when they free up space for the new series on the pegs. But Wal-Mart is swapping out the 6" Iron Man movie figures for the Thor and Cap movie figures. So they could feasibly use that same space for Marvel Legends as soon as they come out. I hope they come out before Christmas, but I'm not betting on it.
  9. Usually prototypes are always better looking than the finished result. The ones you see at shows that are pre production are hand painted and sometimes one of the only one or two initial sculpts. When it comes to final production, a lot changes. Just look at the difference between any Marvel 2-up and then the finished product. You'll ask what the hell could have possibly happened to make it turn out so bad when looking at the original concept. But onto the question. I really think Bi-Beast is going to get made at some point. In a box set, in a single release, something. He and the Red King are the last two sculpts from the lost wave of Fin Fang Foom that made it to production in China and didn't get released to the public (the two-pack Hulk and Valkyrie being the other two). For the rest, it all depends on how much of that we saw on display was fully tooled parts or hand sculpted mockups. Combine that with the popularity of the character and it's frequency in comics lately. We got quite a few Dark Reign Avengers in the Universe line when Legends was on hiatus, now Legends is back, but Dark Reign is gone, so we probably won't be seeing that as much and get more timely Steve Rogers in top cop gear. Looking at the figures on the shelf in the pic in particular, Fantomex is still hot with Uncanny X-Force and would be a good fit, while Brother Voodoo, although up recently as sorcerer supreme, got killed off and probably won't show up again for a while so probably not as good a chance.
  10. Here's some pics if anyone needed an idea of what you're getting: roshansguides.com for the review
  11. It just literally got into the printer's hands yesterday. (About two weeks later than I had hoped). So I should be getting physical proofs back either late next week or the week after and they should be in my hands in Mid-September. So now I'm working to get the website up and going so you guys can order this.
  12. It's not so much the best place but the best way. If you're just starting back up, search through the lots on ebay. Find a lot with a lot of the figures you're looking for and pick it up. You should be able to get most lots for $6 a figure average. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than trying to find things individually as well as paying seperate shipping on each figure too.
  13. I guess I mean shelf wise. I have the x-men, spiderman, fantastic four movie lines, but I don't keep them on my shelf with the exception of the Doombots and Annihilus. But these Avengers Assemble movie lines have the feel of legends figures to me, and I've started to put all of them in my legends displays. I was just wondering if others did the same.
