Rumour! Vintage wave 2

Uuuuhhhmmm, just let me get the numbers straight for a second. That makes Black Panther number 4, Scarlet Spider number 5, Vision number 4, Hawkeye number 3, and Ant-Man number 5 (if you count MCU versions). I get that this will be the first Pym version of Ant-Man and probably an improvement on Wasp, who happens to have thousands of costume changes as part of her character bio, so I'm cool with those two, but just so we're really clear, we still haven't seen hide nor hair of an updated Quicksilver who is a long standing member of the Avengers (mutant or not), nor have we seen updated versions of Thor (meaning freaking ankle pivot), Tigra or Hercules or Falcon (with wings, for the love of god) or War Machine, Yellow Jacket (male or female, I don't give a damn), Hulk (again, ANKLE PIVOT) or Goliath. Better than the first wave? Perhaps, based on each person's character preferences, but still pretty freaking lame overall. Ant-Man is a definite purchase, but the set as a whole is a resounding "PASS".

I think you are forget what the vintage line is about. it's not about giving us "Brand new figure" (IE if they were to give us a Classic Thor figure that would require a bit of retooling), it about giving us

  1. figures that are hard to find and are costing quite alot on secondary markets.
  2. Using older figure and repainting them in different colors so they can save up on money and sculpt.
  3. Giving MOC collector something fancy.

So yeah don't expect new sculpts or figures in this line. Just Repaints in different colors on fancy cards.

No, no, I do understand exactly what the vintage wave is about. I mean, aside from the obvious cheap money grab. What I think you might be misunderstanding is my use of the word update, which I did debate using for that very reason, but allow me to elaborate. When I use the word update I can mean newer or more modern versions of characters, though I'm usually careful to actually regard them as "modern" version, but in this particular case I only used the word in reference to the use of the newer molds or sculpts. Many of the characters I named were done (usually rather poorly) in the Toybiz or early Hasbro lines and could easily be "redone" in classic form using the superior current molds. Thor can be easily revisited using the Odinson buck, Tigra can be done using the Moonstone buck with some glued on auxiliary parts, similarly Hercules, Falcon & Yellow Jacket can all be done on existing bucks with little to no retooling

I hope the Black Panther is in the modern outfit without the vibranium effect, the Hawkeye is in the classic outfit, Antman and Wasp in their classic outfits, the same for Vision.

As for Scarlet Spider, I assume this will be the Ben Reilly version that came in the Rhino Wave, with paint differences, maybe an alternate head

I'm thinking peters head painted blond

I think it'll be

Ant-Man - classic Pym

Wasp - red trim

Black Panther - damn near reissue of first appearance with a different wash or dagger fist

Scarlet Spider - reissue with Peter Parker head, maybe blonde perhaps 5 o'clock shadown

Vision - classic

Hawkeye - slightly modified of that horrible classic version

I'm hoping they'll do an X-Wave

Cyke - X-Factor

Emma Frost - rerelease

Iceman - classic which would be same mold, painted white, new face sculpt and hands that allow Iron Man blue blast effects

Angel - blue

Magneto - classic

And I can't think of another straight repaint

I dont really agree with Black Panther and Scarlet Spider, the rest are good choices if they are done in a classic style (Hawkeye repaint and without the metallic arm, rest just repaints, maybe add in an interchangeable stinger's helmet head with the peghole remolded to fit wasp's neck peg, same for Antman adding a hank pym helmetless interchangeable head).

I realise most Black Panther figures have been exclusives (classic BP rerelease being a walmart exclusive, and the vibranium suit also an exclusive), still I would change Black Panther since we've gotten several versions of him in a short time. Id rather see Hasbro change this one for a new US Agent on the bigger Captain America mold (Wolf Cap).
As for Scarlet Spider, I understand hasbro putting a spiderman figure in the wave to appeal to kids, still I would argue instead they could just repack the Symbiote Suit Spiderman and add a Peter head with symbiote goo on it (and maybe whited out eyes, as if the symbiote is either closing in or retracting from peter's head, maybe give him a slight blue highlight paint job for the suit)

As for Nieman257's suggestion or an X-Men Vintage Wave, here's my take

1. X-Factor Suit Cyclops (dark phoenix 2 pack repainted blue with the white lines)
2. Angel (either a classic costume though I could see hasbro just re-releasing archangel)
3. Emma Frost (updated on the Typhoid mary mold with regular non-jacket arms and heeled shoes)
4. Jim Lee Jean Grey (updated on newer mold)
5. Classic Red Costume Magneto (on updated mold)
6. Classic Iceman (on white clear plastic, and bald headsculpt)

Very interesting, but considering how (at least for me) the only real good figure from the first wave was Wolverine, I don't knw if they will put too much effort on these new figures. It will mostly be repaints. Throw some unmasked heads here and there, a couple of hands and that's it.

About the X-Men themed wave, I agree with most of you, but I think that Jean grey would be on her Marvel Girl costume and perhaps they could put a classic Beast too. They will mostly reuse body molds and already sculpted heads with some repaints. Hopefully not like Black Widow with MJ head. That was not good.

An all white Iceman with some ice effect would be very very nice.

Remember that awful boxset of classic X-Men they did?

I personally liked the first classic wave, I think it really did what it was suppose to do, give a nostalgic feel to new better toys we had as kids, as for the fact they are just repaints of existing figures that's not bad, it gives people a chance to get the classic characters they may not have (some of those figures from said characters are long hard to find or come at a crazy price). I however think if they release this new series as listed it's gonna be silly.. we don't need Scarlet Spider swap that out for a real original Falcon, we don't need a vintage vision yet, give us Thor (no question), and really we just got a vintage styled Black Panther (although hard to find) but I am actually looking forward to the wave, if we get Ant-Man, Wasp in their classic outfits that would be amazing,, wouldn't be mad at a real vintage hawkeye either, and i'd buy the BP, down the line it would be great to see a Hulk for sure (a real comic hulk)

I'm a big fan of the vintage line as well. I got Wolvy, BW & classic Punisher from the 1st wave as that re-hashed Ironman is on a small buck & features those awful ball hip joints.

For wave 2, I'm getting Vision, Hawkeye & Wasp. Already got the perfect classic BP last yr & don't need clone spidey  nor that Antman on that lanky buck. Hasbro dropped the ball on the buck selection on that one. Woulda been better off using the Sunfire buck for Hank & the helmet/headsculpt from the recent Antman/Stinger 2 pack.
