Sandman wave

Here's my theory on Shocker and if anyone on these boards has ever read a single one of my posts then you know my desire for a Shocker fig is pretty much off the charts and I've probably found a way to insert my bashing of Hasbro for not giving me one into at least 70% of anything I've ever written on this site...so I've put some thought into this and im curious to know what everyone else's thoughts are as well. Here we go...

IF IF IF Shocker winds up completing the Jackal Wave then I think we may just may get TWO Shocker figs this year. Crazy right? Read on...

Based on the all of the current trends and data about how Legends are currently being executed, I think we could see TWO Shockers only IF a Shocker is present in the Jackal Wave.

Based on the strong hunch that once again we will see our first 2017 Spidey wave start to appear in very late December/Early January, then this wave SHOULD mark the first of AT LEAST 3 Spidey Waves for the year. With Jackal Wave arriving in January and Homecoming not due till July, then we should all agree that the Jackal Wave is in no way, shape or form, a "Homecoming Movie Wave" This is probably not news to anybody seeing as 6 figures from the wave have not one movie-related figure in it.

However, we can strongly suspect we will get a movie Shocker fig next year right? If that's the case, then the Shocker fig included in the Jackal wave will be representative of a comic version. There's NO WAY that a single lone movie fig Shocker with "Homecoming" on the box, is going be put in that wave 6 months prior to the movie.

Why I say we will get at least 3 full Spidey waves next year is because just like AOU & Civil War, those films got 3 waves each. BUT...Spidey always gets two waves a year regardless so I'm pretty sure Jackal is our pure comic-based wave to kickstart the year proper (just as Civil War wave 1 was all comic based as was Avengers Wave 1) and at least 2 movie themed waves will follow and you can bet your bottom dollar we will get a movie Shocker if we get two movie waves.

For anyone who would argue that there's no reason why we couldn't get a single movie fig in a whole wave (look at Scarlet Witch from Abomb) my answer would be that Abomb came out after Civil War was released which means that that example is disqualified. For the example of a movie fig (movie Shocker) could come out before the movie is released, by 6 months, would be unprecedented.

Historically, all movie figs/movie fig waves have come out about 30 days or so (no more than 45 days) before the films release. This example holds true for Ant-Man, GOTG, Winter Soldier, ASM2, AOU & Civil War (Wave 2 of each AOU and Civil War were the first waves to debut movie figs which were within 30-45 days before the films release)

So, in conclusion, I'm left to draw upon three possible scenarios and only three:

1. If Shocker is in Jackal Wave, then it's a comic form based fig that just so happens to debut in a wave of a Spidey movie year which also features him as a villain in said movie.

2. If Shocker is in Jackal Wave, then we will see his comic fig early 2017 and then his MCU version later in the year for the third Spidey wave perhaps.

3. If Shocker is NOT in the Jackal Wave then we will just see a movie version slotted into one of the Homecoming waves.

However you see it, we are finally getting a Shocker this year without question BUT...what type of Shocker scenario makes the most sense?

P.S. Sandman is probably the Jackal Wave BAF. If he's not...I couldn't care less because I think Sandman is one of Spider-Man's lamest Villians (says a lot coming from a guy who likes The Wall right?)

P.P.S. I might not be well in the head...you decide.

P.P.P.S. PPS is funny

Rukk, out of curiosity, have you received your wholesale orders of Space Venom & Abomb yet? Was wondering if your problem with not receiving the Jnaut wave was isolated to just that wave seeing as I'm pretty sure the ridiculous demand for that wave has caused plenty of etailers problems (just guessing)

Yeah, I received both waves mentioned. The Space Venom wave didn't take long for them to get. The Abomination wave however took some time. I got it about a month ago when they received enough cases (and my place in line came up), so they were able to fill the order. They still haven't gotten enough to lift the "coming in ____" on their site. Seems they've been getting X-Men cases, but, as you surmised, the demand is so great that I must be WAAAY down on that list. The scary thing is I preordered day one. It was late afternoon so that should tell you how many peeps ordered THAT day ahead of me. It didn't help when my rep told me someone ahead of me ordered 20 cases (what the hell is ANYONE going to do with 20 cases?!?!?!). And no Doc Strange wave as yet either, and they've alreaddy hit the B&M's!!!

Interesting. An order of 10 cases or more having priority shipping makes sound sense to me considering that person is throwing them some hella business lol. Also, to Rukks point, who the hell orders 20 cases of ANY wave of ANY toy line!? That's seriously some craziness right there. As far as Strange, as we mentioned before, I can't remember the last time I saw a legends wave at retail before my order was at my doorstep-usually its at my door step AT LEAST a full month before anyone reports finding them in stores.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less when my order ships out and I honestly think it's a much more healthy playing field for us Etailer guys to get their orders around the same time they start showing up at B&M, instead of like a month or more in advance (sometimes it's WAY more than a month in advance)

Obviously, if it was I looking to profit from these orders, I'd be singing a DIFFERENT tune but 90% of the time, these cases are just going into my personal collection and by that I mean, case comes in-figures are inspected for Mintyness-figures are put back in said case and left there lol. I did order 3 cases of Xmen (2 to keep and 1 to Ebay) and did quite ok with the case i sold but i typically don't order more than 1 case of anything so I was specifically looking to offload a 3rd case to assist covering the cost of the 2nd case lol.

Now only if i ordered 20 cases of the first SWBS6in Wave...id be on a boat like a boss right now.

My thoughts on Shocker are based apon one of the lesser circulated theories (but IMO, more plausible) online about the path the new Spidey movies will follow.

Firstly, the shocker is not gonna be as significant a bad guy as he is in the comics, at least not in the first movie. But he'll rather be a small timer more like he was in the ultimate universe. He'll be one of the lesser bad guys that Peter "warms up" with as he begins his crime fighting career. He'll be easily defeated in Homecoming and possibly be broken out of jail in the second movie and given enhanced powers/abilities by either Norman Osborn or Tinkere to eventually join the Sinister Six in the third movie. The jury is out on exactly who the other 3 member will be but are expected to be introduced through either their masked or civilian identities in the 2nd movie. Based on the short scene in Amazing Spider-Man 2, the bets are pretty high on Mysterio & Doc Ock and all their powers will be granted by technological means (possibly, full on exoskeletons) as is seen in the revealed concept art of the Vulture. So it would make sense for the final member to be someone like Rhino or Scorpion or even prowler.

Based on this theory I think Hasbro plans on using the next few Spidey waves to introduce the Sinister Six in comic form before they do in MCU form with the exception possibly being Vulture, whose MCU figure I think will be released in the wave following the Jackal wave. I don't think the MCU Shocker will show up till waves based on the third movie when he becomes reasonably relevant.

I love some good theory crafting, thanks for playing!

Now, in response to your theories, specifically the films, i will say this:

While I'm all for speculating on the future Spidey films (we are doing friendly theory-crafting afterall) it should be worth mentioning the "trainsition" of the Spidey Brand.

Based off of everything I've read, the "arrangement" Sony and Marvel came up with for Homecoming (and the future films by extension) is that Marvel takes over complete creative control and Sony sticks with financing the films and reaps 100% of the box office proceeds without Marvel getting anything on the back end. This "deal" they made supposedly took place without a single $1 worth of a transaction taking place-no money was exchanged.

Sony approached Marvel with essentially "help us" and Marvels approach was basically this; they create the film and they get to use Spidey in the MCU while Sony keeps the proceeds from the film and gets the advantage of a having a much higher quality movie attached to their name. In a nutshell, Sony sees the films put back on track and Marvel was only in it to essentially "restore brand integrity" by executing a Spidey movie with their, now patented and trusted, top tier MCU quality control...with an added bonus of being to use Spidey when they see fit in the MCU as a whole.

My overarching theme is...nothing from ASM 1&2 means jack squat anymore. I personally feel this is a good thing but my opinion is moot seeing as that's their approach. Homecoming is a Marvel Studios production, top to bottom. I.E. Feige & co (Marvel Studios) had complete control of the writing, casting, directing, plot, etc. The film is being shot by Sony cameras though lol.

By that logic, I personally think it would be silly to think that ANY seeds that were/could've been sown in the last two movies actually means anything at this point. Marvel has taken over and it's a safe bet (as clearly demonstrated by their long standing MO) that they have THEIR OWN plan for the Spidey franchise.

Now, this may or may not include plans for a Sinister Six foundation (irrespective of Sonys grandiose plans which perpetually put them in the rut they fell into) and it's not like I'm against it but until we see Homecoming, we really have no idea of what they have in store for us.

Imo, I don't think Marvel is going to (after finally acquiring creative control) swing for the fences right off the bat by implementing S6 simply because it doesn't fit their moteef. Remember, it took MANY films before we got an Avengers movie and MANY more films before we got Civil War. I'm also not saying there needs to be AS MUCH build up for S6 as those films BUT Marvel has proven to take their time laying down deep foundations before throwing a lot at the audience in a single picture. This inherent skill for plot crafting and character building (I.E. creating a massive blueprint in advance and sticking to it) is what sets them light years ahead of the DC "universe" or Fox movies or Sonys previous film attempts and it's clearly worked out VERY WELL so far. Imo, it's literally to the point where Mavel films can do no wrong seeing as their big gambles like Ant Man and GOTG have been superbly executed and their Stalwart franchises like Cap for example literally just get better and better...I can't even fathom how good Thor 3 will be.

This all leads into to their choices for Homecoming like casting a super young kid to play an [ACCURATE] Peter Parker (imo, the brief Parker/Spidey we saw on screen in Civil War was more true to Spiderman than the previous 5 films combined) and going with very old Spidey Villains like Vulture and Tinkerer (long overdue for some film love) to many other examples I won't bore you to death with. Point being, much like Spidey Legends, I think Marvel is going to really lay it on us and we should expect MANY Spidey movies (not just 3) in a sooner-than-later delivery...I think they have BIG plans for Spidey and the LAST thing Marvel does is rush out big ideas and big ensemble pieces because they see the LONG road ahead and are not interested in the short term gain. Homecoming is a tiny little Spidey seedling and we should expect Marvel to sprinkle water on that seed for a good long while.

In conclusion, back to theory crafting, IF Shocker sticks around for a while, I think (hope) we will see both the comic and MCU versions in the not-to-distant future BUT...Hasbro sure does love to NOT give us MCU villains so who knows man, Shocker could be in like 7 films and we still might not get one...

I try not to read spoilers, so I don't know about Tinkerer being in the movie or anything like that. Did read about Michael Keaton being Vulture, though.

I do believe a lot of what was said in this thread about marketing, but as for the toy line for Spidey movies, the joy of Spider-Man is in all the villains. Parker is not a character we can logically get tons of costumes out of like Iron Man armor. His costume may evolve movie-to-movie, so we can count on at least one movie version of Spider-Man toy per movie, maybe two if we want to go battle-damage and/or unmasked head, etc. But if there are multiple villains in a movie, I could see the toys investing in the major villain and maybe a secondary villain for three movie figures per movie toy line. If they build to a Sinister Six movie, they will either focus on the new villains in that movie, not the ones who had been introduced prior and gotten figures in prior toy line waves, or they'll include costume updates to that pre-released figure like we got for Black Widow or Thor in Age of Ultron in the Amazon exclusive 4pack.

I know he's coming lol but based on my long post about it (are any of my posts not stupidly long?) I'm curious to hear what version(s) collectors think we will get based off the evidence at hand. I can't wait to find out!

Please don't feel bad about that! I'm sure you've read some of mine and you know I can (at least) match you word for word! LOL (Like you, I don't know if that's a good thing)! The way I see it, knowing how difficult it can be to accurately convey one's thoughts via posting, we try to be as concise as possible and unfortunately, the by product of that is long windedness! Even though it isn't 100%, I think most of the time, what we're trying to say gets accurately portrayed...........OR WE'RE JUST LONG WINDED AS HELL! LOLOLOL!
