Actually it's even in the workplace, people can't take a ribbing anymore, I'm at a major construction site in northern alberta, our crew got to a max of 8 guys, 2 apprentices, and 6 journeymen, well the apprentices were a little too smart mouthed for their own good trying to tell the journeymen what to do. So couple of journeymen let it be known and tried to put them in their place that an apprentice is to be seen and not heard, we tell them the job and they do it, but it seems that the new breed are sensitive bunch who take offense to whatever is said. Honestly, I'd like to know what the kids are learning at school, I'm only 29, but i mean I do see what you mean people can't take a joke, or a ribbing like they used too. Us older gen we have a thick skin i guess, and you'll notice here most of the members here have a thick skin as well. As for the sensitive bunch?? I'll be honest i have nothing good to say but i'll keep laughing to myself when i deal with them. Enjoy your stay.

 

OH and needless to say as soon as we had our first round of layoffs, we made sure to let the apprentices go.

I got banned from Joesightings.com b/c I was being slightly sarcastic, for changing my avatar to a symbol for being censored, and for using "veiled" insults, oh, also I quoted a baby crying in my signature to protest the fact that one of my fellow posters complained b/c I put a 400lb fat naked man sitting at his computer (nothing was showing) as my avatar. I am still not sure how one determines what a "veiled" insult is, but I guess it is whatever they wanted it to be.

lol I think we had that same picture here posted a ton of times.. actually if I remember correctly, it was to show what one of the moderators really looked like, cuz he never posted his picture

Jedisarlaac....I know what you mean about the "thin-skinned" nature of certain other websites and in truth, some of that thinned skin nature exists even here, but the difference is, it's not as tightly condensed as what a site more SPECIFIC in it's subject matter is.

 

A G.I.Joe specific site, is a little tighter of a group, and the politics are more evident, as far as conducting yourself in a manner that's deemed appropriate by those that are running the board and are "buds". You p!ss off the pope on one of those sites and your as good as screwed.

 

At TNI here, you still have the discretion of each individual moderator to deal with, as some are more tolerant and free willing than others, and yes, they have biased tendencies as any human being does, but still...it's less out of control as what you'll find on the other sites.

 

I don't think of TNI as a G.I.Joe site....it has a forum that deals with it, but it has a whole entire OTHER main focus to it, than just that. That spreads everyone out, and requires a few more mods, in order to keep things in check. JayC is the administrator and will obviously make the final call, but he's not online, every second of the day, watching and monitoring EVERY post and it's content, to make sure it's in line with his personal view of things, and therefore a little more freedom of expression can exist, without him fearing "oh my...what will (add name of toy comapny here) think of my site, with all this badmouthing of their toys or comics?"

 

Other sites claim they allow this freedom of expression there, but in truth, it's a fine line that's drawn, and they have a little less tolerance for the badmouthing of the toy that their site deals with almost exclusively.

 

TNI's pretty much home for me!
