3 3/4" Hulk Buster Figures: Hint of things to come?

It is really hard to say that right now because they are movie figures and movie figures are very infamous for not being in Legends 6 inch scale. Look at the Spidey 3 figures last year and the F4 movie figures. Hasbro is still pushing the six inch scale, look at the Hulk wave. Foom is over 15 inches. Not to mention all of the other figures look in 6 inch scale for large characters. Not to mention the Iron Man figures were small but not 3 3/4 inch. I think Hasbro just rushed these figures together for little kids to buy them, the Hulk movie line probably wasn't directed for collectors but kids. Look at this reasoning why not direct Hulk movie figures to kids and make them at a small scale that way we make a good profit because the movie will push for good merchandise sales and we save money on plastic. From the product I saw at the NYCC it looks as though Hasbro is trying to please the collectors with the Legends line more. 3 3/4 inch won't please alot of collectors and Hasbro's sales outside of the holidays when kids get alot of their toys would suffer. Lets worry about scale changes after January for right now we will get 6 Inch scale products.

It's been well-established that the Hulk movie line is not really 6" scale. The Hulk figures are indeed an average of 6" tall, but in the movie Hulk is over 12' tall, so making humans for the line would mean that keeping the 1':1" scale would mean all Hulk figures would be 12" at least, and all the humans 6". Hasbro compromised by making the Hulk (and related characters) 6" tall, and the humans 3 3/4" using recycled GI Joe parts. Still not perfect, but closer than it would be otherwise. Collectors of the 6" scale get 6" Hulk figures, and kids get Hulks that tower over the 'puny humans'.

That being said, I think a Marvel 3 3/4" line using GI Joe parts would peter out after a while. There's only so many military-themed characters. You can't even make icons like Spider-Man and Captain America without heavy modification. It's a neat thought, but it'd require a TON of new parts.

You would think that since Iron Man was IN the Hulk movie, and presumably Hasbro knew about this well in advance, there would have been some coordination between the two lines in terms of scale.

Hasbro=Chimps

Tony Stark was in the Hulk movie, not Iron Man (and yes, there's a difference). There's no particular reason to coordinate the lines in terms of scale when they're meant to be separate lines to begin with. The movie Iron Man figures can play nice with the Hulk Legends coming out in a couple months. Or the multitude of Hulk figures that already exist in the Marvel Legends line.

The Hulk movie line is clearly targeted towards kids, and it's a good size for that. The Hulk Legends are targeted more towards collectors, and the Iron Man movie line splits the difference.
