Got my AOA Sunfire today!

AMAZING!

The paint application on the flames is EXCELLENT, and blends perfectly from the translucent plastic to the painted flame.

The sculpt is SPOT ON from how AOA Sunfire was drawn in the original comics.

The sculpt used is the Quicksilver/Yellowjacket/Havok body, but it's perfect for the lean/angular build Sunfire had in the comics. All the black body highlights are excellent.

The "magneto collar" with flames is an extra glued-on plastic piece, but you can barely tell from the quality of the plastic and paint apps and how well it was affixed. Obviously the calves and forearms are new pieces to facilitate the flames there.

My only real gripe, which is still not surprising to me, is that he doesn't have a peg hole for a flight stand. I really hoped against hope that they would put one on him, only because all the blurbs about him from Hasbro were "AOA Sunfire in flying pose..."

On the package they state that the flying pose "may require additional support". Uh... obviously the figure doesn't fly on its own, especially not for $9.99, but I would have appreciated being able to stick him on one of the flight stands I have laying around so he can hover over the X-Men display in all his flaming glory. But alas, he must be earthbound.

All-in-all, an AMAZING figure and SO worth the (very long) wait... I ordered it in early May. He looks kind of out of place with the regular X-Men display I have, and he looks downright lonely next to AOA Sabretooth and Wolverine. But Sunfire is supposed to look like this in the regular 616 universe now, right? Can anyone give me the story on that?

can some one give there opinion? where should Sunfire go the X-men or the X-men Villians? (no im not going to make a AOA display).

He was originally a villian that became a good guy. he was a good guy in AOA but he is a villian with that appearance in the comics today.

flip a coin.

I thought about it, and I had it done with Warbird ages ago, but with the kind of hard plastic they used on the torso of this figure, I'm afraid it will crack the body. When others get theirs, can they give me their opinion on whether the body looks too brittle for a drill like I think it does?

As I recall, Apocalypse gives Sunfire his powers back after M day and he becomes a villain, I would put him with the bad guys personally.

You shouldn't have any problems with cracking so long as you drill slow. The heat of the drill will soften the plastic as you go so the only thing you have to worry about is force. Starting the hole off by simply putting the end of a hobby blade and rotating it will start the hole. Once you have a good start drilled with the hobby blade you can break out a dremmel or drill and finish the depth. I would recemmend a dremmel for it's selectable speed.

on topic: I finally got shipment confirmation today. I'm not much of a regular figure collector (I spend most of my money on TF's) but I can't wait for Sunfire to show up at my door. That is especially true after seeing pics of the packaging. Very nice.
