Painted Adam Warlock Gold?

I finally got my Rulk wave in the mail today. Silver Savage and Rulk are wastes of spots, the reat are great. I tried giving Tiger Stripe Wolverine a black paint wash but it didn't turn out too good so I paint thinner-ed it and I'll try painting light orange highlights tomorrow so he doesn't look like plain cheap plastic. Anyways back on topic I'm thinking of painting Warlock's face gold so it matches the comics. Why the @#$% is he white? He's always been gold. Why did Hasbro change it? The four accompanying pictures on the package all show him as gold. Has anyone seen pics or tried it themselves? How did it turn out? Now that I think of it his hair should be gold/yellow too...

I don't really like how the jaw was trimmed down though. The way it comes is not perfect but neither is the alteration.
