3 3/4" sighting and hauls

Saw the Dr. Strange and Guardian 2-pack at TRU today. I can only warn people that the QC is horrible, Normal strange has major eye issues along with Yondu and the other two figures just don't look great. I went through 3 DS packs and all had bad eyes and I must of went through around 7 GotG packs and all had issues. At $32.99 maple leafs money I wasn't gonna grab them with garbage paint and plus Cap and Falcon are shelf-warming hard so this may be a wait for a price drop set.

Thank you for the QC heads up. Does Yondu have an arrow for his holster? I think you're the first and only person to spot these at retail so far. I'm guessing "$32.99 maple leafs" means you're Canadian right? Has anyone managed to find these in the US?

I got mine last week through Hasbrotoyshop. 15% off, free shipping. I posted pics...elsewhere.

Yondu comes with nothing but they clearly intended him too.

I got my order from HTS- Strange's eyes are passable but NOT good. The figure is nice.

The figues FEEL a lot like the movie Cap that came with the motorcycle...kind of hollow feeling but well made--glad they dropped the rotating socket leg articulation. The sculping on the GOTG figs is amazing although I think Starlord looks a little too jacked. Yondu does have a cool middle-age paunch belly and the likeness to Rooker is great.

GoTG2 Movie 2-pack

Starlord has ball-joint hips, ball joint neck (solid post, not hinged), dual-hinged knees, rocker ankles, and swivel-hinge elbows and shoulders. The is no wrist articulation or waist swivel. He also has pegs on the side of his legs that the guns clip onto, which is a very nice feature.

Also note the sculpted-on gray box at the bottom of his jacket near the spot where the zipper starts - I believe that is supposed to be his Walkman.

The jacket is removable.

The holstering peg is visible in the rear-facing picture:

The paints on the mask and guns are top-notch.

The new movie Starlord is the tallest of the new 2-pack figures, and he is taller than his comic counterpart.

The Jurassic World Chris Pratt head works reasonable well, but the head itself is a little undersized while the hole needs some filler material to keep it in place.

The new head is a little oversized for the comic body, but still looks pretty good. It looks better in person than in this picture.

Movie Dr. Strange 2-pack

Henceforth known as the "Buttaface" movie Strange, here we have a finely executed movie body with a poor effort on the head. The eyes were applied too low, and the remainder of the head's paint apps are sub par.

In terms of articulation, Strange has ball-joint hips, ball joint neck with a neck hinge (which is a improvement over Starlord/Yondu), dual-hinged knees, rocker ankles, and swivel-hinge elbows and shoulders. The is no wrist articulation, but there is a waist swivel (which is another improvement over Starlord/Yondu).

Ugh.

The cape has sculpted folds.

The body looks fine sans cape, too. It's just that head...

Astral Strange has the same articulation and sculpt, only translucent and with no cape. No cape!

I did the same with my Quill and Yondu....I was thinking what would be a good replacement torso for this. I was going to try a renegades Duke, but the neck was too tall and did not feel like dremeling the head out. But the legs and arms are good as is the head and the JP Chris Pratt head. Just want to get some torso articulation.

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone have the DPCI's for the Doctor Strange and Guardians sets?

I don't know that there has ever been a Target spotting. But they are available at Hasbrotoyshop

I'm hoping to find them at retail so I can pick out a decent paint job. If I absolutely have to, I'll gamble on HTS. It's still earlier though, so hopefully these have a big rollout soon.

Now that I think about it, you wouldn't happen to still have the packaging would you? If so could you post a pic of the UPC?

Picked up the animated GOTG series Thanos yesterday at Target. I thought with a repaint he'd be a great MCU Thanos... but I think he's too tall. From what I can tell from set photos, Thanos will be closer in height to 8 feet not 10. Here's a size comparison with Black Panther and my custom Ultron mk. 3.

How would that shoulder collar look on a "huge" MU figure?

The Thanos head is not bad, but overall that is just a sad picture that reflects our desperation for product in the proper scale.
