Funny scalper notes at NYCC yesterday.

After waiting for an hour to get in, I made my way right to the HTS.com booth and bought a few Hulks. Then I started making my way around the con to start gathering comics. Multiple dealers already had the Compound Hulk in their grubby little hands for $50! Fifty dollars. While there were still piles of them at the front of the showroom at HTS.

I did not see anyone paying them for it, but had I, I would have told them right in front of the dealer to walk to the front and get it for $11 at the proper place.

All in all, I found most of the dealers pretty agreeable to negotiate slightly. I picked up a FF Toy Biz Super Skrull for $25, and that was the most expensive thing I bought. It's the kind that came on the single card with the proper deep purple paint job and orange/invisible/on fire arms as opposed to the blue ones that came in the ML 2 pack. But you could really only get fairly decent prices by haggling. Most of the dealers had MU for $15 and up, mostly up.

On a non-action figure note, I'm going to cut back on the titles I buy on wednesdays at the comic shop. I'll still get a bunch, but maybe 2-3 instead of 5-6. I got sooo many comics for .50 - $1.00 yesterday at the show that I have to pay 2.99 or 3.99 for on the day they come out. I picked up 200 issues for like $150. That's over a 75% savings. It really makes the most of your admission/parking which adds up to $100 if you're not getting raped every wednesday.

Got a dozen signatures too, that's always fun to meet the artists. Getting Thunderbolts' Ghost first appearance from Invincible Iron Man 219 signed by Bob Layton was the best.

Anyhow now I'm really straying from the Compound Hulk scalper stories.

I read a ton of stuff, Captain America, X-titles, Avengers titles, cosmic titles, FF, Spiderman titles, Fear Itself, etc.

Got Sunfire last and a Falcon to open (his arm popped off in the package, going to have fix that at some point to strengthen the socket). Love both of them, although Sunfire isn't picture, I might leave him MOC for now.

Found the Wave 16 picked up only wolvie and iceman pass on everyone else btw its the non variants , flesh Abs and Iron man stand. Now if I can just find that dang powerfist comic pack im good till the next wave.

Went to plenty of Targets for a Wave 16 hunt, but nothing at all. Saw some of the endcaps set up, but it's not really a MU display like the previous one, it's just 4 more pegs to put MU on, which ends up just being what was in the main aisle moved to the end cap.

Still sad to see only 4 pegs for MU on the endcap at the very bottom, while at the top, Star Wars gets about 8 pegs.

The only good news is that it seems Marvel Universe, Star Wars, GI Joe, and Tranformers Commander series are on sale for $6.99 this week at Target.

Those comic packs are pegwarming here!

Also, the flesh Absorbing Man is apparently the variant.

On a whim, I decided to go check out Newnan since I hadn't been there in ages. It turned out to be pretty depressing, as quite a few stores that had been open my last time there (about a year ago) were out of business. No Tuesday Morning, no Hastings, and no local comic book store; every one of them was gone for good. Oh well.

In happier news, the Target and Wal-Mart there had numerous Iron Fist/Powerman and Captain Britain/Spider-Man sets. I debated about picking up an IF/PM set for trade, but passed since it seems it's starting to hit everywhere. The Wal-Mart also had a ton of team packs, including the Fantastic Four set but none were variants. I also spotted the IM2 Concept Series at Target. I thought about getting the Heavy Munitions War Machine, but couldn't rationalize where he would go in my collection.

All was not lost, though, as I did pick up a Taskmaster/Deadpool set for trade. That was about it as far as "rare" stuff, although I did pass on a Savage Oppress figure since I had picked one up Friday.

I checked out the new TRU Express in my neighborhood today and they had maybe 2-3 cases of Wave 15. Also had a Deadpool/Taskmaster Comic pack. Prices were pretty steep though...

As if the complete action figure and comic book OVERLOAD wasn't enough after going to NYCC yesterday, I found the Street Fighter 2 packs at TRU today. Picked up:

Ryu vs. Sagat

Ken vs. Blanka

Guile vs. Abel (who?)

Love how all the figures come with interchangeable open hands/close fists.

I would of preferred some more street fighter 2 characters first BUT

Abel is from street fighter 4...he is Guiles wife after her sex change....

....not.

here:

According to the official website, Abel is "actually nothing more than a genetically engineered replacement body created for use by M. Bison. He was to be disposed of with the other failed creations, but he alone managed to survive and escape".

Abel was found in an abandoned Shadaloo base suffering from amnesia and raised by a mysterious soldier. Abel claims that the man who found him died recently, and Abel feels that he has had no family. After finding a stray puppy and taking him in, he starts a journey of discovery to find who he really was and where he came from, after which he says he will be able to name the dog. He first goes to the detective, Chun-Li, who is investigating Shadaloo. Upon hearing his connection to Shadaloo, she recommends that he participate in the S.I.N. Tournament to learn more about his past.

I was a Street Fighter II junkie back in the day with Super Nintendo. Continued when I got PS2. Mortal Kombat lesser so, but yes, addicted.

I never even heard of Abel. I bought that pack for Guile.

Ryu, Ken, Sagat, and Blanka are money though.

And hey, if they ever make Balrog, we'll all have that 3 3/4" Mike Tyson figure we always wanted.

still no wv 1 near me that I've found. But I did managed to get pretty much the entire Transformers DotM MechTech series for less than $5 each. We kept finding coupons for $5 off and they were less than 10 at Walmart so we kept buying them.lol I'm actually impressed with these. Last time we bought some Tf's a few years back and every single figure broke within seconds of coming out of the package. I guess that series, whatever it was, just sucked in quality because these are nowhere near that fragile. Kids are loving them.

So did anyone manage to get an extra Heimdal while they were briefly available? I'd love to score one without financing a scalper.

anyone?

...anyone? Bueler? Bueler? anyone seen Bueler?....

Today's totally unnecessary haul:

Namor w/ Sub-Mariner stand

Magneto w/crooked leg syndrome

PoC Renegades Cobra Commander

Apparently, I missed Wave 16, as Magneto was the only one of that case that was left. I'm now pretty happy that I had a fellow board member help me out. Thanks G!

Found a lone namor and x-23 today. Snatched them up as that was the only bit of the recent wave that I've seen. As I got closer to the register I looked at the figures and noticed that one of Namor's eyes were literally the size of half his head. Talk about crappy paint. Then I looked at x-23 and of course! The silver paint on one of her legs literally extended to like... the whole leg. Quickly put those suckers right back on the pegs. I don't really care for the magneto/iceman wave, but I'm still looking for commander rogers, namor, and darkhawk.
