The black version was just the costume he was wearing in Avengers pre-End of Days. I think at that point, he was the last Hyperion left. I do believe he is technically the same Hyperion as the single carded release.

The Hyperion in the black costume joined during the last phase of Marvel Now. I believe it was at the start of the Time Runs Out story, but it may have been earlier. He was a new Hyperion. The single carded Hyperion can be one of several different versions. I think that look was most recently used in Jeff Parker's Thunderbolts run. He joined the time and quickly turned on the other Thunderbolts and they kicked his ass. He also works as a generic Hyperion or as a classic Hyperion, though he is missing the eyeliner for the latter.

I said end of days, but time runs out is what i was thinking, when he was pal-ing around with Thor.

Yup that's it. Hyperion had a full beard and long hair towards the end. He was looking very Thor-ish. There's another variant Hasbro can do. Someone there seems to really love him.

Thanks for the info guys! :)

I know it's a super easy custom, but I'd love a full classic Hyperion with the mask, and at least one hand in a fist. That was the requisite flaw with that figure -- he's mostly a heavy-hitter, but Hasbro gave him two open hands.

I may be wrong, but I think that, not counting Bizarro, Hyperion was the first jerk version of Superman in comics. Certainly decades before Liefield did Supreme (if anyone else here remembers those old Image comics).

If anyone wants a big Frost Giant monster, Gamestops have the Disney Infinity 2.0 Collector's Edition pack for sale for $14.99 (normally $179.99, no that's not a typo). It has a display base with the monster. Here he is with Thor:

Does anyone know the status of the current waves for the infinite/legends waves? Is the vulture/doc ock wave hitting retail? I have never seen it at Walmart, Target or TRU in Minnesota. The most recent wave I have seen is with Ulik and Triton, which is clearance down to $3.50 at a local Walmart.

The Vulture wave never really hit TRU or WM. It was seemingly online-only until they started showing up at Gamestop. Every Gamestop I've been to has had that wave, and many have them on clearance. I'd check there.

Thanks for the Gamestop tip - i bought Doc Ock, Vulture, and Shanna there on clearance. Ocks arms are a fun feature although the body is too tall and bland. Shanna is a decent fig. Vulture...will have to glue those stupid wings on

Same here! Thanks so much. I bought Doc Ock and Vulture at Gamestop Thursday... I skipped oh Shanna and Thunderstrike, but I badly needed a Dock Ock.

Did they re-release Black Panther with the Quasar/Rogue wave? I kept putting off on buying him when he was released with the Captain Marvel/Triton wave, and he ended up being the best selling figure from that wave in my area.

Grabbed a Death's Head, Hulk, Chameleon, 2 Steve Rogers and 4 Emmas for $43 and change. Good deal. Thanks for the heads up, PushYouDown. May have to grab a few more Chameleons before the sale ends. I don't even need the fodder but can't resist those prices.

Wow! Thanks PushYouDown!!! I finally added 2 of the "Jugolossus" figures to my collection for less than what 1 would have cost at full retail. I also picked up an extra Beta Ray in case mine ever gets damaged and an extra Vulture, since it sounds like I'll need to glue the wings to fix the figure.

Pretty awesome to almost complete my 3.75" collection (what I want, at least) with that Colossus figure for so cheap!

I used hot glue on my Vulture, so if I want, I can pull the wings off without damaging the figure or the wings. It won't hold up to intense play, but for display purposes, it works fine, and is completely reversible.

I asked the same over a month a ago. Judging by the silence then and now I'm going with no.

It's a real shame these didn't last. I was pretty excited for the comic packs since I wasn't collecting when they came out back in the day. All I've seen is the 1st wave at retail which is still clogging the pegs around here. Bought the 2nd wave through BBTS but never saw them discounted at Ross or Marshall's like many have reported. I have slim hope to see the Guardians anywhere other than online at this point and I can't bring myself to spend the prices I've seen for 3/4 figures I own already.

Thanks for the tip on Vulture, Axonrey.

For just a cheap-o repaint, that Juggernaut-Colossus looks pretty cool. I'm glad that I finally added him to my collection.

We sure are in the doldrums right now. I'm still waiting for the Rogue/Quasar wave to appear in my area. Still no preorder news for the Maestro/X-23 Wolverine wave.

Here's hoping NYCC gives us something new. I'm hoping to see the rest of Wave 2 for next year, and an actual sculpt for Tombstone.

Have the GotG comic packs been seen at retail yet?

There was a sighting at Forbidden Planet in NYCC yesterday

Just the one "c." Yes, I saw Gamora and Starlord but not Rocket and Groot. Forbidden Planet in Union Square, NYC. I think there were 3 of them, and the Spideys, Marvels, and Hyperions as well.

it's a vicious cycle for a lot of hasbro's products these days. the 1st wave sells tremendously when it originally hits shelves but then all you see after that is the 1st wave refreshed instead of moving on to the 2nd wave. i feel like it's poor production planning that so much of the 1st waves are cranked out and then all the later waves are scarce, even though it's clear people are clamoring for the figures.

I have no problem paying full price for the Groot set, but the other one.... Starlord with the white trim looks nice, but definitely not $20 nice. Too bad they didn't have the budget (I assume) to give us a new figure with that Starlord. I would have preferred that they had re-released an old pack, instead of giving us that Starlord/Gamora set that almost nobody wants.

The comic book packs have such awesome potential -- what a great way to give us obscure characters, or an over-sized character! Instead we have gotten so many packs that only gave us one new figure. And there have been far too many wasted slots on packs that were just cheap repaints (the Thor/Iron Man pack is the one that annoyed me the most). Fail, Hasbro. Again.

All that said, I actually liked Wave 1 of this year. I was excited to add Machine Man, Vance Astro, and Jane Thor to my collection.
