How about dying with some dignity ?

right. it seems to be okay to be part of the xmen, avengers, alpha flight, team x, and weapon x, but its a problem when the bat does it.....tisk, tisk.

It isn't as if any side is going to win this argument. DC pimps out Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. Marvel pimps out Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Captain America (and Deadpool).

Last time I checked, it was good business to promote your most popular characters. But hey, I guess capitalism is dead.

No your right it is good business, but most every one her do not own DC, or Marvel. Soooo. you are the consumer pick a side. This is for pooda, you forgot these comics:

1.BatMan

2.BatMan Confidental

3.BatMan Streets of Gotham

4.BatMan The Unseen

5.BatMan Detective Comics

6.BatMan and Robin

7.BatMan Widening Gyre

8.BatMan The Brave and The Bold

9.Blackest Night BatMan

10.SuperMan, BatMan

11.Justice League

12.Secret Six

Im pretty sure Im missing some, but all im saying is i would buy one ongoing series. Then I would become a big fan and have to buy 20 different BatMan Comics.

1.BatMan - Yes

2.BatMan Confidental - Yes (but this isn't current timeline cause it's Bruce Bats)

3.BatMan Streets of Gotham - Yes

4.BatMan The Unseen - Sounds like a mini

5.BatMan Detective Comics - Nope. This is a Batwoman book at the moment.

6.BatMan and Robin - Yes

7.BatMan Widening Gyre - Mini?

8.BatMan The Brave and The Bold - Yes

9.Blackest Night BatMan - Mini

10.SuperMan, BatMan - Yes, but again, alternate timeline cause it's Bruce

11.Justice League - Nope. Batman isn't in the JL atm.

12.Secret Six - I don't think current Batman is in this book anymore

Exactly. If you are going to say "at least Marvel doesn't do this" you better do some research first.

ok to get back on topic ...

So far ML has proven not to be dead, but definitely in a new format: the 2-pack!!!

As long as Hasbro keeps the product coming, and the price does not jump like Mattel did with DCUC, then ML won't die easy.

Keep it hard like Bruce Willis!!!

theres no need for a price jump, seeing that they nixed the BaF.

Actually there was a price bump. Now you buy 2 figs for $23 or $24, but as you said, you don't get a BAF. So, you are paying about the same price w/o the BAF.

thats true. thats why i dont like buying dcu 2 packs. true, both figs only cost about 12 bucks, but theres no C&C piece.

I say do a relaunch of the 6 inch line and call it Marvel Ultimate Alliance and since they have redone the characters in a different updated scale (i.e. Daredevil , Iron Man, Johnny Storm) do the line over. That way, we get fresh new characters as well as upgraded ones too. A lot of the older figures (Series 1 thru 5) look dated anyways.

The sick part about the last two DCUC 2 packs is that I was buying them for one character (each): Braniac and Clayface. :(

The Sinestro 2 pack looks like it will be awesome, but it will start at $25 plus ship. :(

all in all, if hasbro keeps producing legends(even if its at a slow a** pace) the line isnt dead. but if i was a die hard marvel collector, the reuse of heads would definitely kill it for me.

Are you talking about the Warpath fig? Cause I heard all the MLs displayed at the Con were more like in-house customs than actual prototypes.

Now, that said, as long as the fig looks different enough (ie, Warpath has a mask on and looks different enough for me) and the figs are well done, then I'm good to go. I have much lower standards than some. ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

I am an MU collector, and am proud of it, but i do give a ton of respect to all ML's out there, I wish that hasbro could keep the best of both worlds, for the sake of both types of collectors. Would'nt it be cool if hasbro took over the MU line, and Toy Biz kept the ML's coming out? I'm not sure if that's feasible, but it would sure make everyone happy.

Best of luck to everybody

And who would they give it to? While you might think Hasbro is bad, right now it's the best option out there. Any other company would either charge too much with almost no line to speak of coming out or that most of the companies that people would like to see produce it are dead (and that say a lot about the company right there).

i just want DISNEY to take it out of hasbro's hands.

That not likely to ever happen.

1 Hasbro/Marvel make waaaaaaaaaaaay enough money on MU, SHS, movie 3 3/4 figs, other figures, board games etc etc to make up for Legends being a slow release low amount of figures line.

2 What other company is out there that could handle Legends anyway? Mattel? Not really, then they would all look like DCUC figures and Marvel would not want their figures to look like the competitions offerings(most legends collectors probably wouldn't want ML to look like DCUC either) and they would likely be $15 a pop if not more for a single card release.

3 6 inch scale seems to be a dying breed in this day and age, only really Mattel(DCUC, Movie Masters) and Hasbro use it right? i mean wrestling figs are more 7 inch scale, most movie lines are 7 inch scale, same for video game figs.

4 Also while you may disagree, Hasbro's actually done a fairly good job with ML the past few waves or so, so it should stay in their hands to begin with.

you guys kill me with that 15.00 crap. i have NEVER bought a dcu for 15.00...so where have you been seeing them at that price? not to mention that even if they were 15.00...you still get a BaF. as far MLs go, if they were 15 bucks, ML goers would just b*tch, b*tch, b*tch as they still spend that 15 on MLs!

At Walmart they are 12.99 a pop. Tax in CA is over 9% so after tax I think it's near 14.50. Close enough to 15 to round up anyway.

MLs are in 2 packs for 22 something. After tax that's close to 13 per fig. That's really close to 15, and like you said, NO BAF.

Like I always say tho, if you think it's too much, then don't buy it. If enough people did this, Hasbro and Mattel (not to mention Walmart, Target, TRU, etc) WOULD take notice.

Just look at the Movie GI Joes. No one was really buying them (or at least, not as many as toy co's / stores thought) and now the prices are dropping dramatically - $5.00 even at Walmart now.
