Cannonball (or Ghost Riders) jacket ripping

AAAAaaaargh!

 

Just picked up my Sam figure to show to my kid who started reading old New Mutant issues.... and the jacket is ripping up in 6 different places!

 

Haven't touched him in almost a year, no direct sunlight, WHAT HAPPENED?!

I need to check mine, same deal. Second I opened him I was pretty sure what the future held for him.

I wonder if it's a design problem or if it's the plastic that Hasbro used for Cannonball.

 

 

I don't have that Cannonball figure, but I have not noticed the same problem on my loose ML7 Ghost Rider

I was thinking of trying to fix (or keep it from tearing any further) by using those small rubber patches you use to mend bike tires. This could just be thin enough not to show.

Anyone have any experience in mending rubber coats on toys?

i dont have cannonball but my ghost rider is fine for now. i hate this soft rubber. i have a cavetroll from lord of the rings and his face is so ripped apart. i hate it when this happens. the only troll that matters to me and he looks so off. i dont even know what to do with it. maybe some day i can fix it or i will find a guy who can sculpt a new head. i will see.

If anyone has a Cannonball, or GR coat that is still in one piece I could copy it in the plastic I use for coats, and that should offer a more durable replacement for those of you whose Cannonball coats are tearing.

Mend it from the inside.

Maybe use hot glue.

Remember it's rubber (feels like wacky wall crawler rubber), not plastic.
