What the hell is the deal with the Xmen wave?

Yeah I literally found the entire Jnaut wave like 5 times over at JUST Walgreens alone (yes including deadpool) and I wasn't even hunting for them since I ordered two cases from EE lol. I guess it pays off living in south Florida once in a while since 99.99% of my local Walgreens shoppers are incredibly old people just trying to fill their prescriptions at the pharmacy so they don't...ya know...die. Not the kind of crowd that races to the toy aisles around here lol.

I'm sorry Heisenberg but I just find all of your posts about this Warlock wave just downright hysterical (in the good way) That is equal parts because I love reading all of your conspiracy theories about how store employees are out to screw you over and also because when I read you saying something like you have been going to Targets every morning for weeks to find this wave...I can't help but laugh as when this wave goes up for preorder at EE next month...I'm just going to click a few buttons on my phone while I'm outside my branch having a smoke...and have the wave sent to my doorstep lol.

I greatly respect your passion for the "hunt" sir, truly I do. I'm not saying I necessarily understand it lol but I love it.

I am just missing Cyclops, Polaris, and Colossus now myself. I know its only a matter of time till they hit Walmart and I will be walking down the aisle and boom there they are. I have been keeping an eye on Target though. Its all in good fun.

Well I am glad you at least got amusement out of all this lol. I don't really understand it either man. I think it might play into my OCD and addictive personality. I know if I just wait they will be on BBTS eventually but I feel like I have to have them as soon as I can. Which makes even less sense when you take into account the fact I usually leave them in the box until I at least find another wave to keep MOC. I only do this with X waves and exclusives......for the most part.....sometimes figures I see being rare such as Angela. I still haven't opened most of the Juggernaut wave even though I have like 4 or 5 Deadpools.

p.s I don't think all the employees are out to get us per say I just think many are lazy and incompetent and see adult toy collectors as customers they can treat like crap. Not all obviously, the other Target in the area has an amazing toy department specialist.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm not picking up this wave at retail but for those who are, you might want to try your luck at Walgreens (my favorite toy store) Throughout the week, I've stopped at around 3 different Walgreens (I wasn't hunting) and I've seen the entire wave across just those 3 stores. Every store had 3 random figs (totes) so if you hit up enough stores, you'll probably score the wave if you need it.

Furthermore, I'm very happy to see new, non-exclusive legends arriving in totes again because Jnaut and the Strange wave were being shipped in their actual case of 8 and good god EVERY store I go to has at least half a dozen figs from each of those waves. They need to clearance those older waves ASAP. I know legends are popular and retail went big on the Jnaut coolaid but shipping full cases of figures to a drugstore that has such heavy space/shelf constraints is just ridiculous... Most stores I visit have so many legends, they have permanent overflowed into the place where Black Series AND sometimes where the McFarlane Color Tops go as well.

Still on the look out for Colossus. My Targets and Walgreens have such wacky restocks, it's never the same day. Plus X-wave has come to a halt it seems.

From what I've been told by Walgreens employees, they get plastic totes with random stuff just thrown into them, which is why their restocks are so spotty. As an example: Apparently, at some sort of distribution point, a case of figures is opened, and it's split up into totes for different stores. However, sometimes they do get full waves. Now, maybe this is just in Kentucky or the Louisville area...or maybe that employee is full of it, but, it makes sense because the Walgrees restocks seem totally random to me.

So far, I've found the entire Warlock wave at Walgreens except for Colossus and Shatterstar.

That is exactly how it works (My last retail job before I left that industry was a store manager for CVS) and to be honest, that's exactly how it SHOULD work for a drug store with extremely limited space for action figures.

Due the severe glut of Jnaut & Strange wave figures on their shelves, I'm fully expecting them to not do solid cases anymore as its way too much for stores to handle. Every store should stick with the 3 figure launch in totes system (with single unit replenishment as needed) and I would personally even call for them to revise their 8pack shipper program for exclusives. They should rather get a case of 4 (for the exclusives) sent to every store versus a sidecap shipper of 8. Hasbro did case packs of 4 for Walmart Bucky & Falcon so they have the means to execute that with other exclusives moving forward, if they choose.

I would guess that the April 17th "strict shelf date" for etailers and other store chains is not so much about not releasing the product to the customer, but probably to legally honor whatever exclusivity deals they agreed to for early release thru Target and Walgreens.

I think it was actually pretty smart having a gradual widening of the release scope, with sightings first happening for about 3 or 4 weeks (mid-February to early/mid March) in Targets, then 3 or 4 more weeks in Walgreens, and then the scope widens to everyone else. It allows customers to access the product quicker, and with limited release, the fever and enthusiasm is maintained, and those who have tried and failed to score them early will buy as soon as they hit en masse. Not to mention what other perks Hasbro might have gotten back from Target and Walgreens in exchange for first crack at the release of the X-Men Warlock Wave. Maybe in exchange those chains agreed to fund the costs for more exclusive figures. It essentially forces the consumer to look at Target and Walgreens as the Go-To destinations for Marvel Legends.

I wouldn't be surprised if they follow this formula with future waves and different retailers.

I've decided to give up hunting and just wait for the mid-April date. It looks like the Target I saw remnants at, only got them in once...maybe twice depending how they are packed. But I haven't seen it since. Currently, it's Guardians and Spidey. I did manage to snag Ms Marvel and Thunderbolts Shocker (Walmart had one regular that was older and one Thunderbolt).

I think it makes sense to maybe break up how the waves are released giving Target or TRU or whatever a head start but I just wish they would tell us. When I saw Old Man Logan at Target a couple months ago I was shocked and sad I hadn't gone in during the morning.

Thanks, I found them the same way on

Up at TRU.com and at the same price as the previous X-Men wave of $15.99! Of course Cyclops and Colossus are gone but everyone else is still available.

I can't find any of them there.

Check out my post in sightings & hauls - links are there. They're only showing in moble search results. Hope it helps!
