Recommended Posts

Szamszantos sends us in-hand images for the new Marvel Legends 6" Spider-Man Kingpin Build-A-Figure wave from Hasbro. He lets us know the wave has started to show up already in the Philippines. The wave is expected to start showing up here in the US by the end of this year or first thing in January. The wave includes figures of Puma, 6-Arm Spider-Man, Red Goblin, Black Cat, Modern Symbiote Spider-Man, Silver Sable and Night Thrasher. This wave is currently available for pre-order at Megalopolis.Toys.

Not overly exited about this particular line up but that Kingpin BAF is a must have for me. silver sable, six arm spidey, night thrasher and puma I remember from the comics, but this red goblin I'm not familiar with at all and not crazy about the eye pieces they put on black suit spidey. Any how like I said before, Wilson Fisk is a must have for my collection. Thanks for the nice pics,

The only thing making me want to get the entire wave is the Kingpin BAF. The other figures are just not good. Why do they keep using that awful female buck??? Silver Sable looks terrible, biggest head and out of proportion!!!

I suggest if anyone is interested in any of these figures to wait for these to go in clearance or buy them loose in Ebay.

This whole wave assortment is butt. I originally was excited for at least Sable but she almost reminds me of Hasbros work during their dark ages in lazy. Im not keen on the newest iterations in comics so not a fan of sym spidey 2018, black cat 2018 and red goblin due to not being attached to him but his design is interesting altho im a sucker for symbiotes. I would have loved six armed spidey but his execution is a wide miss for me. Puma I vaguely know of from back in the day and both him and night thrasher i have no attachment to. Kingpin is great but I just cant justify buying these figs just for him. If they go down to half priced or bargain bins, I will def pick up but for now its a total pass.

I wasn't going to say anything but since everybody else is putting it out there, none of these figures are a must have except the baf. Now that I take another look silver sable does have a big head. I hope the LILandra head that's coming out will fit on that body. I thought about waiting in this waves prices to go down and try buying each separately but I just remember how I missed out on that sandman right arm, now every time I look at him on the shelf its like "shoulda got the wave, big dummy". And don't get me started about how long I waited on Rhino and now its out of my reach price wise. But life goes on.

Yep, I will pick these up if they go down in price or hope to one day see this Kingpin released in a special packed set like other BAFs.

Yeah, there are a couple of stinkers in this one. The Red Goblin is the stupidest thing I've ever seen, though he's generic enough in appearance I'll probably use him as another Symbiote. The Black Cat is a failed and pointless redesign, and Modern Spider-Sym combines the worst elements of both.

On the good side, Night Thrasher and Sable are my big wants for the wave, and the 90s 'toon fan in me is over the moon for Six-Arm. Don't really feel strongly one way or the other for Puma as a character, but I'm up for any character making their "plastic debut."

Final tally? 4 outta 7 seven ain't bad.

Im only intrested in Silver Sable and the kingping baf, the rest are easy passes for me, Ill probably pick up a 6 arm spiderman later on but I doubt Ill pay full price for that figure, Ill most likely have to buy a built Kingping from someone, Im not intrestes in any of the other figures

Had they thrown in the heavily requested & long over do classic versions of Vulture/Scorpion/Tarantula, I woulda been all over this wave. But instead we get a Red Goblin, black spiderman with some weird stupid eyelenses,  & Puma. & a 6 armed Spiderman with no ab crunch articulation that looks phoned in. I've seen customs that look better & still kept the ab crunch.

I have no idea who the Red Goblin is but after some research I found out he uses a glider, which the figure doesn't even come with. So it is not only a character no one really wants, but it is incomplete.

    • Speaking of Joe Mad, now I want a Joe Mad! Rogue Marvel Legends with her short-lived pink Shi'ar costume from Uncanny 342 (?). Ugh. Thanks... :( Also, I'm just remembering that the "Marvel's Most Wanted" Blink came with a cloak with a hoodie (tunic) and now I'm doubly disappointed this Marvel Legends Blink doesn't come with one.
    • With 2 Cables already, I don't think they'll do another. My guess would be Wolverine, Psylocke, Boom Boom, Cannonball, Sunspot & Warpath. They would need new headsculpts for Cannonball & Warpath, but I'm sure they could find another sculpt to use.
    • Ahhh...this brings back memories!! Yeah, I loved this one too...especially the rubbery cape which was (unusual for the time) not only super detailed and decently sculpted, but fit the figure perfectly. He may have always spoken in the third person, but he was still bad-ass!
    • Having this AND two more X-Waves on the way is a damn good reason to live!  Gwenpool was indeed doubled up but worse, was a huge disappointment as a figure. I bought one loose while the case was shipping and then immediately wondered why. Possibly a better head sculpt would have helped but it's just not a figure I like, and I'm not wholly sure why. All of the Lizard was pretty bad (Spider-Man BAFs are the most variable of them all). From the head -that just drops straight off - to the dumb tippy-toes, non-bend knees and the ludicrous tail (I think they were going for the effect that Toy Biz nailed with their very cool John Romita Jr. Blackheart...clearly the Toy Biz guys had grasped that less weight up top and better articulation would be needed for a character posed on toes). I'm a huge Joe Mad fan....his run on Uncanny X-Men wasn't long but his influence was massive and every artist on the X-books for the next 10-15 years was either emulating (e.g. Chris Bachalo) or reacting against (e.g. Leinel Francis Yu) his thick-line, slick Manga-plus style. Personally, I loved it & managed to get him to sign a TBiz Most Wanted Spat & Grovel card. Treasured! So, I can't disagree with you about Blink because you're quite right: JM's rendition of her was indeed pretty much perfect (just like Art Adams' Wolverine & Colossus, JR Jr.'s Cyclops and Jim Lee's Psylocke) with her little satchel and tunic, big eyes, slick modified bob & long-drop bangs and super-cool costume, but I can live with Exiles era Blink. If Hasbro ever gets round to a Joe Madureira Maggot or Marrow (as both were drawn before before Operation: Zero Tolerance) I will literally explode with delight. Again. I guess the re-name of Clarice makes sense (and I didn't know she'd been renamed either - good shout & good knowledge!) but I do NOT like it....Thank God they didn't feel the need to take  the Cuckoos or Polaris in that direction.
    • I’m not gonna lie and I might be in the minority, I’m only interested in this line for the Caliban BAF. I’ve love that Caliban design since the 1st time I saw it as a kid.
