Why aren't comic and movie characters in separate waves?

And yes, I do believe the wave was intentionally made to push her out front as the main attraction. How else would you explain the laughably underwhelming assortment. In who else's mind, other than someone who has a specific idealism to push, would they put those secondary characters over much demanded figures like Mar-Vell, Ms. Marvel and Super Skrull?

Genis-Vell is not a bad choice for a figure since is revelant to the Captain Marvel mythos. Grey Gargoyle is simply yet another B-list villain, which is nothing new. The MCU Thanos wave had King Cobra. The Ultron wave had Tiger Shark. The Hulkbuster wave had Blizzard and Titania. The Mantis wave had Ex Nihilo (not a villain, but still minor).

The remaining figures being movie-relevant is more than fine. It's great to see a Marvel Legends wave with movie figures that includes more than just the protagonist. There are already plenty of MCU movies who only saw the bare minimum of characters released (the prime examples being both Ant-Man and Ant-Man of the Wasp only saw releases of their main characters, not even the antagonists got a figure). The Captain Marvel wave had figures for two supporting characters and one villain, which is okay. Even if Nick Fury is a civilian figure, he's still the most important supporting character.

Probably the only figure that feels truly unnecessary is bomberjacket Captain Marvel. That's only one figure. And even then, it's a cute harmless variation of the character, with a Goose figurine.

Keep them mixed. It was likely said before, but we wouldn't see so many obscure characters if they weren't tied to movie waves, it works. As for Agenda there's one real agenda pleasing Parents,  which consists of Real life Gun phobia or Hoplophobia and I guess, promoting skinny females only since they don't use Moonstone body (or even thicker thighs from Dark Phoenix figure) and are afraid to give Black Cat and Black Widow Cleavage. All related to one thing - angry parents.

Yes, thank you, exactly. As much as I disliked Spider-Man Homecoming, it wasn't until they did that particular wave that I got the Captain Universe figure I always wanted.

Genis-vell seems like a great choice for a Captain Marvel wave imo, even if they didn't go with his most well-known/popular look (par for the course with Hasbro).  I'll grant that Grey Gargoyle is an odd choice  and i would've preferred to see Moonstone, Quasar, or Super-Skrull in there.  That said, i never expected a GG figure from Hasbro so its kind of a nice to get a classic, if c-list, villain. Ms. Marvel or a classic comic Carol or Mar-vell seem like they could/should still show up somewhere, maybe in a 2-pack or exclusive?  maybe we'll hear something at toy fair.  Note that the recent BP wave 2 had 2 mcu black panther figs, so its not just Carol.  maybe this will be a pattern going forward, at least for solo character movie waves.  Not that i'm in favor of it.  Talos, Yon-Rogg, and young Fury are all reasonable inclusions for this movie wave. While I'm not that thrilled with the kree sentry BAF,  I'm glad they didn't go the route of making a normal sized mcu figure the BAF like they did with Mantis and  Okoye.

On topic, i favor including comic figs in mcu waves.  The main issue for me is my compulsion to complete BAFs,  i'm working on getting away from that this year so i can just cherry pick the comic and mcu figs i really want from each wave.  I know Hasbro counts on our compulsions to get us to take a chance of figures we might otherwise pass on buying, can't blame them for that.

Yes, I too will admit that I was one of the completists that Hasbro seems to be banking on to support some of these weaker waves, but i fear it may be having the opposite effect. Starting with last year's waves in which they started making the waves majority MCU (I was still cool with 50/50), it was the first time EVER that I didn't complete a wave. And the compulsion to do so was doused by the fact that a lot of those BAFs weren't all that appealing. I hear that from a lot of other collectors but maybe that's just cuz I'm in the echo chamber of a lot of like minded collectors. But seriously, how the hell do you not give Thanos his armor? Oh yeah, so they can use the same sculpt and jab us a 2nd time when they make Armored Thanos the BAF in one of the Avengers waves this year. Still no hide nor hair of a new comic Hulk though, I bet. It's just so frustrating at this point. So many Avengers related characters have yet to see the light of day only to see multiples of Cap and IM in every wave. Though I don't see it myself, the MCU collectors that i know seem to feel the movie figs are more popular and harder to find. Seeing that affirmation from both sides leads me to believe separate waves would both perform well. I, for one would love to see a 1 for one ratio. So for every movie wave there would be a comic wave. This way you would satisfy the MCU collectors. It seems to work at least semi successfully for Mattel (current license situation notwithstanding) cuz, at least in my area, seem to both sell equally. This would at least give us an option to choose which to collect as what they are currently doing seems to be alienating quite a few of the, what were up to this point, mainstay fans.

    • I didn't see those pix yet!! omg, thank you....I think when I last saw that page the pic load was up to maybe 195 images........wow, those last ones are truly incredible. From a beat-up Juggernaut.......which, granted, never happens. I love Colossus but normally Juggy smacks him around....and that Iron Man, to have a Tony Stark head as he holds his helmet?! so so classic... I love it, ditto for ultimate classic Cap; I swear that might be the best paint job / representation of color I've ever seen on an action figure......still not feeling the Thor..something about him is too passive for me...but with that Iron Man and Cap, and the Hulk vs. Wolverine set is a dream come true, ....this has been the best Toy Fair in awhile.
    • Throwing it out there but I wonder if Disney will try and bank on the shows and release them on Blu-Ray/DVD with extras, behind the scenes and commentary?
    • With the second season of "Marvel's Cloak & Dagger" returning on April 4th, Marvel has released some preview images of Tandy Bowen (Dagger) and Tyrone Johnson (Cloak) and a teaser trailer. “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” follows the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. The only constant in their lives is danger and each other. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to control the power of darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart. Season 2 turns the heat up on our young heroes, as Tyrone and Tandy try to find their place as more active heroes in this world. As they learn and grow emotionally, so will their skills. We saw Tandy and Ty dip their toes into the world of hopes and fears; this season, they will dive deeper into this metaphysical pool. With enhanced powers and a choice to make about the type of heroes they want to be, they make the choice to run into the danger, head first. They tackle a heartless vigilante and uncover an evil that’s been preying on the young women of the city, as the show takes on more serious topics like gang violence and human trafficking.
    • Gone, but not forgotten. The DD and Punisher series provided some of the best entertainment on Netflix and arguably the greatest live action versions of the characters.
