Following his critically acclaimed and sold-out SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN series, writer Gerry Duggan, along with his best-selling INFINITY WARS artist Mike Deodato, will embark on a new and epic adventure this May in Marvel’s all-new series SAVAGE AVENGERS! Spinning out of the events of AVENGERS: NO ROAD HOME, SAVAGE AVENGERS will find Conan fighting alongside an “unsanctioned team of heroes” in the Marvel Universe – including Wolverine, Venom, Punisher, Elektra, and Brother Voodoo!

“We envisioned a threat, a magical green zone where the evil wizards of Conan’s world are trading spells with The Hand in Japan,” Gerry Duggan told Entertainment Weekly in an exclusive interview. “Conan is on a very Conan-like mission; he’s heard a tale of an amulet so he’s chasing it, and the evil magic sorcerers are doing something that would be a Marvel Avengers problem. It feels like we have found some very fertile ground that is a Venn diagram between those two worlds.”

Conan, Punisher and Wolverine. Damn. This will be bloody.

I'm hoping they are just using the name Avengers because I'm really not big on the idea of the Punisher being an Avenger. Wolverine, Deadpool, even Conan are one thing but Frank Castle is a whole other level.

None of them rates to be an Avenger. Marvel just tosses in a bunch of characters they know will help sell the book & labels them "Avengers. 

 

Bendis destroyed the classic Avengers I grew up with  & just started turning the team into top selling all star characters that always operated solo or teamed up once in a while: Spiderman, IF/Powerman for example. 

 

Been a very long time since the word, "Earth's mightiest heroes" & Avengers could be used in the same sentence.

 

When that team consisted of Thor, Ironman, Vision, Wonderman for example, to go along with Cap, Black Panther, YJ, Scarlet witch & Beast, now that was a super mighty lineup.

 

To me, Frank is & has always been a character that operates best going it alone. Wolverine is an X-man, period. And now they're throwing in a barbarian with a sword inn the mix? Wow.

 

As far as ML action figures go, I do hope they make a classic Conan figure utilizing the Namor buck.
