Marvel's Epilogue Sneak Peek

Recommended Posts

Hitting comic shops this July – an all-new addition to the classic MARVELS graphic novel written by Kurt Busiek and fully painted by Alex Ross! And it’s a “Marvels” look at the “all-new, all-different” X-Men of the 1970s! In this 16-page story, Alex and Kurt bring Marvel’s world to brilliant, realistic life one last time, as the now-retired Phil Sheldon and his daughters, in Manhattan to see the Christmas lights, find themselves in the middle of a clash between the outsider heroes and the deadly Sentinels, giving them a close-up perspective on the mutant experience. Also featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this special story, and other bonus features.

I still have all my Marvels in a safe place. I consider them to be my cream of the crop of comics. Also the Kingdom Come Alex did for DC. I will be on the lookout for this for sure. Thanks for the info.

This comic series being one of my all time favorites, it's awesome that Alex Ross will delight us with his magnificent work.

Looking at the cover I spot Scott Summers and Jean Grey, Wolverine and Storm, Banshee, Phil and his two daughters, Nick Fury. I'm thinking the big guy behind Storm is Colossus. Who did I miss?

It's a re-creation of X-Men #98. The guy on the left is Nightcrawler using an image inducer, the guy to his right is indeed Colossus. The guy with sunglasses in front of Storm is Matt Murdock. Next to Nick Fury is Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Next to Banshee is Moira MacTaggert.

Don't forget Nick Fury in there.

I always wondered if the guy in the blue cap with the blonde beard was supposed to be Claremont in the original piece.  Whether it was supposed to be or no, looks like Alex Ross decided it was Dave Cockrum.  Unless it was supposed to be Cockrum all along in which case, no disrespect, but I have to say that Ross does a better Cockrum than Cockrum.

...I've just said "Cockrum" to myself too many times in my head and now it sounds really weird.

Given that it was Cockrum drawing, I wouldn't be surprised if he did put himself in, Claremont, Cockrum and Byrne loved to put themselves in their comics
