Salma Hayek Is The Latest Addition To 'The Eternals'

Salma Hayek is the latest addition to the cast of The Eternals, joining Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani Richard Madden and South Korea's Dong-seok Ma (AKA Don Lee).

Pre-production begun awhile ago with Chloé Zhao directing from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo that adapts Jack Kirby's comic book creations.   The saga behind the comic begins millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically tinker with humans, creating the super-powered and near-immortal beings and a more monstrous off-shoot known as the Deviants. The two races moved behind the scenes throughout human history.

Well dang.  Now I'm wondering who's playing who.  Originally I thought Angelina would be Sersi for sure, but now I'm wondering if Angelina is Thena and Salma is playing Sersi (with Madden as Ikaris).

 

Of course Salma could be someone else entirely but those are the two most prominent female Eternals.  Unless Salma's not playing an Eternal at all.

 

I also juuuust a little-bit wondered if Madden might be playing the Black Knight, as a love interest for Sersi.

I'm just wondering how long they expect this movie franchise to last. If it's just a one-off I can see it working but both Jolie and Hayek are getting up there in age, yes sexy as hell still, but if this thing goes one for 10 years or even 5, I would suggest they won't be looking so "Eternal" by the end of it. Not to say they won't age beautifully but, what happened to looking for fresh new faces to carry the MCU into the future? I can imagine theses players don't come cheap either. It just seems like they're throwing a ton of resources into what many would consider a major gamble here. We saw what happened to the whole Inhumans fiasco. This strikes me as a similar type project. I know some people are excited, I'm a bit interested myself, but I really have trouble seeing that this movie would appeal to the general public.

I dont know Ive never really been a big fan of Slama's acting (I have nothing against her but I just dont think too much of her) then again same goes for Angelina (I think both are talented women but not my cup of tea) and if it were any other studios other than Marvel I would be really hesitant towards these news but with marvel helming this movie Im sure its not a decision taken lightly, so Ill be looking forward what these actors bring to the MCU

I can't wait to see this movie with all these A list actors. Also it's crazy how we're likely to get an Angelina Jolie ML figure.

Oh...BABY!! I never expected to see my long-time and only celebrity crush in a Marvel film! Cool man! She's a talented actress imo, and has never really gotten her due. Whoever she plays will be a treat...so long as she's not a mutated Deviant, lol! A sexy Deviant, yes, like Ereshkigal perhaps. I can see her as either Sersi or Athena easily, too. Can't wait to see how this pans out!
