New Promo Pics For Hasbro's Walgreens Exclusive Marvel Legends 6" New Mutants Figure

Recommended Posts

Hasbro has released new promo images for the upcoming 6" Marvel Legends Walgreens exclusive New Mutants Dani Moonstar figure. This figure should see release later this year after the Emma Frost figure which has already started hitting overseas.

The figure includes a bow and arrow for Dani as well as alternate hands and heads so you can also make figures of New Mutants members Karma and Wolfsbane.

Since Hasbro debuted the figure last weekend during SDCC, I've seen some of you wondering about the uniform the figure features. It is not the uniform the team wore when the original New Mutants comic debuted back in the 80s. Its a more modern version the team started wearing around 2009 in the New Mutants Vol. 3 comic series. One thing to note however is I am not sure whether or not Wolfsbane was seen wearing this particular outfit. I don't think she did, but I won't swear to it.

I'm hoping the headsculpt from Hasbro's recent Magik figure will fit on this new figure as well since Magik definitely was seen in the comics wearing this updated uniform. Granted the black headpiece on that head might look a little out of place but overall I think it will work.

Love the fact she comes with a bow and ONE ARROW.

Thanos better look out now, boy!

As for finding it (them?)I hope the fact this is essentially an army-builder means they'll go that extra step to get enough into the wild.

All I know for sure is, after the Infamous Iron Man debacle, I won't be ordering her site to store.

That's one arrow more than hawkeye or kate bishop came with, so that accessory's gonna end up doing triple duty!

I'm hoping that Dani's head will fit on Kitty Pryde's body, so that i can diversity the new mutant's heights/costumes a little.

Ya, way back in the early days of New Mutants. It's a pretty cool pack, (here comes the but) but I wish they woulda included a regular Magik head sculpt instead of Wolfsbane. The current Magik is really short even though she supposedly aged and grew with the rest of the women on the team and we're all sure a 90's Wolfsbane is on it's way shortly and that head sculpt coulda been used with this buck. Small potatoes, I know. I'm still happy this figure finally found it's way to the shelves. At least the Walgreens exclusives are easier to find than Walmarts.

Yeah if I end up getting her, I might have to take her bow, paint it and give it to my vintage Hawkeye.

This is a neat set. Something about Danis head looks huge to her body ratio tho. A pretty face tho. And I miss the days when Wolfsbane had a massive updo and not this look. I think this is going for more of the modern era look of these characters which Im not as familiar with because wolfsbane looks hella awkward to me. Definitely going to be a nightmare for anyone trying to obtain all of them as im sure there will be droves of people just buying them for the body buck alone for customs. Thankfully I wont be one of them. But when that Doom arises, I will scour the Earth to get him.

This is exactly what I was thinking.  It's like an army building figure.  IIRC, Infamous Doom was limited to 2 per person on Walgreens website.

That's funny. I'm hoping Kitty's head will fit on Dani's body. I never liked how big Kitty is on the body they used.

yeah that Kitty fig is too tall.  Although i had assumed that the Dani figure was on the smaller "female teen" buck and from what i've heard its actually taller than that so I'm going to have to wait to see.  Mostly i just want Dani to be taller than Karma and Wolfsbane but its not a deal-breaker.

I hope that Sunspot gonna get announced soon enough, they can easily make into multi head pack so we can almost complete whole team in the same year.

What are the chances this comes out when Walgreens has a Marvel Legends sale? Has anyone kept track of when Walgreens does those? I remember they had one around the time Mystique was out.

They might do a Male pack with this same costume design later on, (male body with this design of paint and just put in Sunspot, Cannonball and Cypher heads, maybe a couple of flame effects and interchangeable black flame hands for suspot.

I agree this should have come with a newer Magik headsculpt more in scale with this body (a regular haired one without those things sticking out) instead of Wolfsbane's parts, maybe add an interchangeable armored left arm and a sword (though I'd be ok if it just came with a Sword instead of the wolfsbane's hands, since you could use the gripping pair of hands that already come in the package), either that or a magma head and clear fire hands instead, those two would have made more sense than Wolfsbane since we know we'll eventually get her in her more iconic 90's costume (which is the look every wants, I dont think anyone really cares for this wolfsbane)

I for one am very excited about this pack...but I do have reservations about it being a WALGREENS exclusive. They better pump out a lot of these or we are gonna be stuck.

I think this pack coming with a Wolfsbane head just lenghtened the wait of us getting an X-Factor Wolfsbane.

I shouldn't be complaining though, that Wolfsbane head looks cool. I'll be getting 2 of this figure. I'm not as familiar with Karma.

Dani Moonstar: 5'6"

Magik: 5'11"

Magma: 5'6"

Wolfsbane: 5'2"

Magma was definitely the pick. Wolfsbane is a little too short and wasn't part of that iteration of New Mutants (I'm pretty sure the picture above is actually fan art; I don't think she ever wore this costume). Magik is too tall and would have required an alternate arm and a sword. It doesn't matter, though. I'm so stoked to get Karma and Dani (but especially Karma).

To me, the costume is close enough to the initial black-yellow uniforms the New Mutants wore and I think the 'x' adds a little more pizazz than the FA costumes had.

That said, i'm really debating whether its worth it to me to bother completing the team.  I have Warlock and Magik (who are probably my two favorites from the group anyhow)  but i've only really read the sienkiewicz-era issues from the New Mutants run, altho i know most of the characters went on to other teams in the 90s and beyond.  Not gonna consider getting Sam or Boom-Boom til they hit discount prices anyhow, so i guess it'll be awhile before i have to cross that bridge.

Not for me.  Needs the cavalier boots, yellow trunks, and red belts.  Plus, the bodies look too grown up.  I guess Shan is alright, but definitely not for Rahne.  Dani would be a stretch.  I'm going to pass on this and hold out for some classic NM uniform releases.  And frankly, like all of the things I feel okay passing on these days, it secretly a relief!

Editing to clarify: The bodies look too grown up to represent Dani and Rahne as they were in the original NM run.  They look fine for when they were adults and actually did wear this uniform.

LOL, I love how Cypher is raging threateningly in this piece!  "Oh no!  It's Cypher!  Look out, everyone!  He's going to conjugate in French at us!"

Hopefully, I’ll have an opportunity to purchase Emma Frost at Walgreens; was not able to obtain Mystique.

This figure'll probably hit the US in November. They usually do the Walgreens exclusives quarterly, and Emma Frost has only just made her way into US stores in the last two weeks. Emma did hit internationally about two months earlier, so this might be available in places without Walgreens in about a month.

    • Humanity aspires to prolong life expectancy, increasing its quality. Life expectancy is the expected (in the statistical sense) number of years of life remaining at a given age. In other words, it is the average number of years that a person or animal can expect to live. If in 1900 life expectancy was 47 years of age, it has increased from 45 to 63 years from the1950’s (Life Expectancy Tables n.d.). Thus, life expectancy is constantly increasing. This fact should make people happy. One might observe not only an increase in the proportion of the older population in the age structure of society and a gradual increase of life expectancy, but also a process called by scientists as “the rejuvenation of the population”. The population of developed countries, thanks to the development of medicine, keeps their health strong and a youthful appearance longer. It influences different processes, which have psychological, cultural, and social characters. Moreover, one should not forget that the real goal of scientists-gerontologists and all who are involved in overcoming aging is not only to increase life expectancy, but also to prolong health and youth. Increased life expectancy is a result of various factors. There are the development of medicine and health care, improving the quality of nutrition and living conditions, the development of technologies that help conserve energy and strength among them. A spread of set of cosmetic procedures of maintaining a good appearance such as plastic surgery, hardware and “pharmaceutical” cosmetology also makes a great contribution to the “rejuvenation” of the population. There is a trend in medicine called “anti-aging”. Moreover, many diseases and conditions commonly associated with aging have become “older”. Hormone replacement therapy also contributes to the health and activity of women. Such a “rejuvenation” of the population often gives a new emphasis to very different processes. However, the increase in the average age of the population has far-reaching implications as well as a serious impact on the planning and implementation of social policy generally. Nonetheless the UN is concerned because for the first time in history, by 2050 there will be more senior citizens over 60 years of age than 15 year old children. Current paper discusses why it happens and what problems life expectancy might cause for modern society. The Problems for Modern Society Caused by Increased Life Expectancy · Social problems. Some researchers believe that there is a problem of coexistence of generations due to the increase in life expectancy. Today, all the infrastructure elements of life are focused on creating the conditions for a full life of one generation, while at least two generations have the demand for it. Life expectancy increases, causing not only a joy a for person’s friends and relatives, but also new problems both for the state, and for all those who in one way or another are affected by the increase in financial expenses due to an increase in the duration of life of the retired. There are public and private pension funds, health authorities and social security. The need to pay more pensions depends on the amount of taxes that the young working population will pay. The increase in pension payments will require increased taxation so the state could pay all the pensions. The increase in the number of people who are over 60 will require an increase in the quantity and quality of medical care and service. In turn, it will require a large amount of additional financial costs. They will be required not only to keep constant supply and improving the level of medicines and medical equipment, but also to attract a growing number of health care workers. Moreover, much more old people’s homes and other care units must be built in order to provide all for seniors. · Economic problems. Due to life expectancy, a large number of people over 60 will continue working in factories and companies. Despite the improvement of the quality of their physical and mental health, they will still give way to the younger generation in power energy, speed of reaction and endurance. As a consequence, countries, which will be dominated by older workers, will be less competitive in the global market. Their level of economic development and progress will be lower than in those countries where the workers are young people. Moreover, equally important problem is the fact that increasing numbers of older people can cause them to compete with the younger generation in the workplace. As a result, the younger generation might perceive people over 60 rather negatively. Young people might begin to consider the elderly as those who deprive them of work. Mankind has always sought to increase life expectancy. Recent advances of various kinds of sciences, including medicine, allow people to count on a significant increase in life expectancy. Every day scientists create new kinds of drugs, antibiotics and vaccines that not only fight various diseases, but also prevent their occurrence successfully. In addition, the improvement of living conditions, nutrition and other factors that are characteristic of developed countries contributes to life expectancy. It seems that the increase in life expectancy solves many problems and allows people around the world to have a long and high qualitative life, constantly opening up new opportunities for self-development. Nevertheless, life expectancy may cause some problems for modern society. There is the need for large amounts of additional finance for social sector (pensions and health care among them. In addition, no less important can become an economic problem since a large number of older workers might cause economic decline. • Kang, classic Ultron, Annihilus,  Blastaar,  Super Skrull, Viper/ Madame Hydra. All these were in some previous incarnation during Toybiz/early Hasbro ML time. They need to be updated; I don't include Dr Doom because we all know he's coming. Couldn't resist putting these on: Super Adaptoid,  Count Nefaria,  Sebastain Shaw, Bushmaster. Far as I know they didn't make ML before (did Count N make Marvel Universe?) but it goes to show, Hasbro's got a lot of figures to draw from that haven't ever been seen.
    • Would definitely get: 1. Mr Fantastic ("negative" uniform, stretch effect arms and legs if poss) 2. Thing ("negative" trunks, 2 fists, 2 open hands, one head mouth open) 3. Invisible Woman - clear variant 4. Human Torch- all red, translucent, correct body buck 5. Sub-Mariner - 70s "water wings" navy/black outfit 7. Super Skrull 8.  Annihilus BAF
    • YES. None of that yellow head nonsense. Toss in some good flame effects and youre golden!
    • Great job! That alt head looks more like the Emma Frost we all know and love!
