Sony Closes The Door On Spider-Man's Return To The MCU

I agree that the movie is terrible in almost every aspect. I disagree on Leto, because he was one of the worst things about the movie. And everything wrong with him boils down to his acting and that aggravatingly annoying laugh, couldn't care less for the "OMG tha fanbois don't like it cuz they don't think it's not a canon look" reasons people normally harp on about.

joker was the thing I disliked most about that movie for sure, but I have so many complaints it feels like im not even putting the blame on him

on the subject of Spider-Man, it honestly doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would, I really like Holland in the role and I loved vulture and mysterio but honestly both spidey movies are bottom tier MCU movies for me (yea I know that's a crazy statement for most MCU fans :p) . so I hope sony getting all the control will be for the best.i guess time will tell

there are plenty of spider villians and characters to where he doesn't need to borrow any from other marvel heros, if anything im let down that other marvel heros wont get to share spidey's villains

I think what I most bummed out about is no Spider-Man/daredevil team up, but who knows if that  would have ever happened regardless

Yeah ok, here’s a potshot, Sony is I don’t know what they are thinking this is by far the stupidest thing they have done, I hate the Toby McGuire Spider-Man horrible movies, venom I liked, but they spent the past 5 years bringing and writing him into the mcu and now it’s done, I’m done with it,  if he’s not part of mcu he’s not really important not, come on Stark was his mentor Sony has had the biggest mistake they are gonna lose a lot of fans and money get your fucking heads out of your asses. We don’t need another Spider-Man movie for a while what is the hurry he’s not that great

No team ups with any of the heroes that live in New York, like any of the defenders, it’s was just a stupid move, they could have done a Disney show with team ups with daredevil or Jessica Jones or anything I’m so upset.  The only thing they have that would be kinda cool is venom and Spider-Man. But being part of the mcu is much greater.  Sony you suck everything you sell is over priced #$##. You have failed

This still saddens me but I'll get over it.
I just hope Sony won't F#*$ up Spider-man again.

It's so weird people keep saying this as if what Sony dd with their first version of Spider-Man didn't unlock the door for the MCU in the first place. How about Sony keeps doing what they do best, and somebody tell Disney to stop "F#*$ up"

I'd take a hundred Emo Peters over a single Big Thorbowski.

If Sony had stopped at the first two original Spider-Man movies that would be a valid argument. But since then we've had 3 crappy Spider-Man movies by Sony not to mention a pretty weak-ass Venom movie.

Its really not smart for Sony to continue Spiderman disregarding everything that took place in the MCU and for Disney to continue their story in the MCU without Spiderman.... I think when it finally comes down to making the next movie a new deal will be made. Its just one big game of "Chicken".

*shrugs*  I'd say Tom Holland Spidey's world has been built up enough that Sony could make a good movie without leaning on the mcu as a crutch.  Granted their track record doesn't fill one with confidence (although the 1st two Raimi movies were pretty great) but we'll see.  I definitely expect that when the next big 'event' movie in the mcu rolls around, disney will throw enough money at sony to bring back spidey, which of course will be huge. So overall i'm not worried about it, especially since given what we know about phase 4 so far, there aren't a lot of movies where you'd expect spidey to make an appearance anyhow.

The thing about this whole split is it was always going to happen. Sony was perfectly willing to let Disney take the wheel for a bit, but there's a world of difference between handing somebody the keys and giving them your pink-slip.

Fact is, Disney doesn't own the movie rights to Spidey, Sony does. Sony wants to build their own Spidey-Verse without having to share creative control . . . or revenue, with Disney. A clean break is better for both parties.

And frankly, is what the MCU did with Spider-Man so great? Five movies in and he was still basically Robin to Iron Man's Batman.

Well, you prefer dancing Emo for no reason Parker over Thorbowski with depression, and you've made clear you've enjoyed next to nothing from the MCU, so I'm not surprised.

No, on the contrary, I loved EVERYTHING about the MCU, but with Guardians of the Galaxy, they pretty much just started flushing the whole thing, piece by piece ,down the porcelain crap-catcher.

Well, it just comes down to taste as usual. GotG is my all-time favourite film. I know it's not objectively the best in the MCU or the world, but it is my personal favourite and I recognize several things that make it a great movie. Still, I understand you not liking it at all. It is a complete tonal shift from Winter Soldier.
