Oh Lord. Questionable costume designs, die-cut covers . . . it's the 90s all over again. All we need are polybags, trading card pack-ins and DNA pen artist autographs.

Don't forget the foil covers. Also the trading cards idea is back, one of IDW's TF comics last year came with a free pack of cards for the TF TCG

Yep.  I suppose anything that will entice the (relative) handful of floppie collectors still out there to buy multiple issues of the same comic.  I suppose it doesn't really hurt anybody though.  Hopefully it is of some benefit to comic store owners,  altho i got the sense that the owner who did all the "tilting at windmills" columns back in the day at CBR viewed these as a headache when it came to ordering.

I will say that i enjoy it when a trade paperback includes a gallery of alternate covers in the back.
