Miles Morales: Trapped In A Clone Saga Of His Own

Writer Saladin Ahmed’s acclaimed run on MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN will hit a new highpoint this April with the CLONE SAGA, a new arc that promises to be Mile Morales’ most thrilling adventure yet. One of the most talked about comic book storylines of the nineties, the mega-popular “Clone Saga” took over the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, shocking readers month after month. Now this iconic saga will be—Miles Morales-style—beginning in a special oversized anniversary issue: MILE MORALES: SPIDER-MAN #25.

After months of buildup, the Clone Saga will be the culmination of many of the ongoing story threads that have been haunting Miles since the very beginning of Ahmed’s run. Readers will finally see the full extent of the Assessor’s meddling as his clone creations run rampant through Brooklyn. Designed by superstar artist and Marvel Stormbreaker Carmen Carnero, prepare to meet three distinct Miles clones, each one destined to turn Miles’ super hero career upside down.

“When Peter Parker faced his own ‘Clone Saga’ years ago, he was taking part in what was already one of the most iconic traditions in comics - the hero battling a version of themselves. Since the very first issue of MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN, I've known that I wanted put Miles through that iconic wringer in his own distinctive way,” Ahmed said. “Miles' CLONE SAGA is a story that has been months, even years, in the making. We've been planting its seeds throughout the series, from the horrors of being abducted by the Assessor to the confrontations and sacrifices of the Ultimatum epic. Moments from the past will come back to haunt Miles, and the events of the story will ensnare everyone from his baby sister to Peter Parker (who knows a thing or two about dealing with clones). The ramifications will be felt for years, and it all starts in April!

“If you thought the first ‘Clone Saga’ was controversial, wait until you read what Saladin and Carmen do,” Editor Nick Lowe said.

Don’t miss the start of Miles Morales’ greatest challenge to date when the CLONE SAGA kicks off in MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN #25.

The only Spiderman clone story I ever liked or can remember is the What if story where Peter decided to team up with his clone. They took turns being Spiderman throughout the week, one got Gwen Stacy and the other got Doc Ock. I think Mile's Warren got blown up in that story. Anywho, bring on the CLONES!

The original 'Clone Saga' was mega-popular? Mega-controversial was more how I remember it. In fact, it was the clone saga, coupled with the 'return' of Norman Osborn that made me drop reading Marvel comics altogether. That and un-killable Thanos. People only stay dead in Marvel until a writer needs them to boost sales. Any how...whatever the case with Miles Morales, I would only hope for the fans that another version of him isn't left running around.

This says it all. They haven't learned.

The utter idiocy of not grasping the fact that the clone saga is LOATHED throughout Spider-Man history. Of course they had to go even lower by coming up with that disgustingly stupid Gwen/Osborn thing. Controversy for controversies' sake is a poor substitute for good writing. The initial intent behind the storyline was to come up with a short story arc that would simplify and "lighten" Spider-Man's stories; instead they wound up stretching it out into an endless, convoluted and embarrassing example of how not to write a story. Well, it would be embarrassing if you actually had any writing skills, or concern for professionalism for your craft....

I stopped buying Spider-Man years ago. The comic just no longer entertains me. I've enjoyed Miles' adventures; perhaps that's coming to an end too.

Grooooooaan......yet another clone saga? There's gotta be some freaking writers out there that know how to do something/anything other than constantly alternating between constant clone and symbiote storylines. Just put a bullet in it already.

It's official. There is no original creativity left at Marvel Comics.

Actually originally it was; the Clone Saga was a huge financial success for Spider-man, however it became to successful and the higher-ups (especially marketing department) wouldn't allow the writers to end it, which lead to the mess we know today.

Hmmm....Well, that does make sense, especially given how long they milked it. Still, all I remember from that time was my disgust with Marvel and throwing all those issues in the trash when they first tried to imply that the Spider-Man I'd been reading about since the late 70s was a clone. Eesh...it was hard to even type those words, lol.

Even Marvel quickly regretted the whole Ben is the real Peter idea, unfortunately they went with it and it cost them Dan Jurgens
