Today, Marvel Entertainment announced a brand-new documentary special, Marvel’s Behind the Mask, will debut February 12 exclusively on Disney+! Marvel’s Behind the Mask will explore the power of identity behind the world’s most iconic super heroes we know and love today.

From the very inception of comic books, secret identities have been an integral part of both super heroes and villains leading “normal” lives. But it’s the characters beneath that resonate within us across generations of fans. Since the advent of the Marvel Age of Comics in the early 1960s, Marvel’s writers and artists have used the notion of identities to examine the evolving concept of equal rights. These legendary Marvel creations and stories have not only reflected the world outside our window – they have become a reflection of our own identities and who we truly are.

Marvel’s Behind the Mask will feature guests from across Marvel’s 80-year legacy, including the writers and artists behind the rise of characters like Black Panther, Miles Morales, Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage, the X-Men, Captain Marvel, and many other characters in the Marvel Universe, highlighting Marvel’s impact on pop culture and media.

Marvel’s Behind the Mask is produced by Marvel New Media with Tarmac Creative. The film is directed by Michael Jacobs and produced by Chris Gary and Ryan Simon for Tarmac Creative and Strike Anywhere. Joe Quesada, Shane Rahmani, Stephen Wacker, John Cerilli, Harry Go, and Sarah Amos serve as Executive Producers for Marvel.

Yeah cool, I will watch this, I was really disappointed however in that Legends show they had, I expected it to be in depth not just like 20 minutes of old movie clips. I liked the other show they had out 616 or whatever it was called, so if this is more like that then I'm happy.

It's something for people to watch so that they can understand a new show or movie without having to watch 50 hours (so far) of previous MCU content. My parents definitely don't know who Vision is, but they're interested in this big new flagship Disney+ show that's replaced Mandalorian; and even if they got a list of what movies Vision's in, they're not gonna watch 4 movies of homework (that they'll only partially understand because of the other interconnected storylines) when it's easier for them to just click over to whatever's the new big Netflix show that they can jump right into.

Does it really fulfill that purpose, though?  I've only watched the Vision one but its basically a bunch of clips without very much context provided.  imo the show could use a narrator along with the clips (perhaps Fury or Maria Hill or (my ideal choice) the Watcher).   I'd be surprised if someone with no prior exposure to Vision would be able to make much sense out of the character from the Legends episode.  You would probably come away understanding that he's a superhero robot who was in love with Wanda and then died.  The bits with the Jarvis AI, Ultron and shooting down War Machine would probably get lost in the shuffle... although i guess the Legends show would serve adequately to jog the memory of people who've seen all the movies but forgotten some stuff.

More "filler" content which really serves no purpose for Marvel fans but rather a weak attempt at "adding content" to their Disney Plus streaming service. It was confusing to see a bunch of clips from movies that I'd already seen, so imagine how much more confusing it would be for someone who hasn't seen any of the Marvel films. I understand with COVID-19, production has been slowed down, but adding a bunch of "content" that's made up of past movie clips is just lazy. I've already been questioning my subscription with Disney Plus due to the lack of promised Marvel content, but this "extra" stuff is convincing me that the money spent isn't really worth it.
