I know it's a real shame they messed up that skin tone and hair on the second head, but I really love this figure, I'm going to let this slide for now, I hope they do a running change (as we all do), because it's really fixable to make this accurate, I want this figure even if they don't fix the issue, I will still accept it, because that head aside they did a bang up job here.

Wow. You don't seriously believe the hasbro team took one picture they found on the internet and used that as a basis for their figure. You do realize that makes no sense, and the very pic you show looks nothing like the figure they made, right?

They screwed this up, and could have easily fixed it, and didn't.

We're on almost exactly the same page about this, but I have to disagree with one thing. The head, and the head alone in that picture, and the alternate head for the figure would look EXACTLY the same if Hasbro had painted it the same colors. Also, when Chris Bachalo began drawing the, he kept that same design (from the neck up) but drawn in his style. He also gave Karima Shapandar/Omega Sentinel a new body design, which is pretty much exactly the same design the figure has, save for bust size (and a couple other minor details). I won't repost the pic here, but it's the first one in the group I posted Tuesday.
Otherwise,

Colouring mistakes can happen in comics

I am 99.9% sure that I have every comic book issue in which Karima has appeared. Out of hundreds of appearances, I have seen her occasionally given a lighter skin tone (including the variant cover of X-Men #200, where she has been clearly miscolored as caucasian but still has black hair), and I have seen her occasionally given brown hair.  The alternate head of this figure is the only instance I have seen of the character being depicted with a caucasian skin tone and brown hair at the same time. Marvel just doesn't appear to have published any material, coloring mistake or otherwise, that matches it. Whether this happened at the prototype phase at Hasbro HQ or during production at the factory, this is a mistake on Hasbro's part, plain and simple.

Too true, but you know that if Hasbro ever address this flaw they will blame the source material they were given

I doubt that. They wouldn't want to risk offending Marvel, especially to cover their butts. If they address it, they'll cop to the mistake but won't acknowledge how or why it happened, with Dwight or Ryan saying something like, "We don't really know how this happened. This slipped through the cracks somewhere, and we'll do our best to make sure this doesn't happen again."  I'm not sure if "We're sorry," or "Our bad, guys." would be added (definitely one or the other), so I'll leave it at that.

My confusion on this figure stems from how closely the they have paid attention to some aspects of source material, and completely ignored other details in the SAME source material.
Karima's alternate arms are very clearly modelled on the art from X-Men Legacy 243. I understand that the alt head sculpt is more modelled on the House of X/Marauders appearances, but in both those instances, she also has black hair.
Anyway - still holding out for a running change.
