Your biggest gripe with Legends?

Dabboi

It could be a gripe with the figures or Hasbro in general

I don't know about biggest, but it's certainly an issue I have, for me, it's the fact that Hasbro almost never paints the pegs on their figures (Spider-Man, Vindicator, etc.). This really only bugs me because Hasbro is perfectly capable of doing it (Nova in the Groot BAF wave).

What about you, what are your biggest legitimate gripes?

Note: Try to refrain from "They never do [Insert character name]"

A lot of times I feel like Hasbro is just churning out figures, making a lot of them feel cookie cutter, and I'm not taking about mold reuses. Simplistic paint apps, no accessories, no effect pieces, not even alternate hands. Doesn't make them feel like  ☆•°. 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝓂𝒾𝓊𝓂 𝒸𝑜𝓁𝓁𝑒𝒸𝓉𝒾𝒷𝓁𝑒 𝒶𝒸𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃 𝒻𝒾𝑔𝓊𝓇𝑒𝓈 .°•☆  to me. And this is only worsened when it overlaps with budget sponge BAFs. Stuff like the Abomination or Sugar Man waves make most of the singular releases feel like they only exist to come with a BAF piece (like the flagrantry that was AoA Jean Grey). I feel like every release should be able to stand on its own or at least look like it could.

My other biggest gripe is something that I understand why it's done and I'm not gonna fight it, but it still annoys me, which is the integration of comic figures into movie tie-in waves. I would love it if there was a segregation of movie, comic and game figures, to have everything in its appropriate lane. This practise particularly annoyed me in past years when Hasbro used to leave a lot of gaps in movie-based waves. Like the Iron Man 3 wave only coming with Iron Man and Iron Patriot, the Captain America: The Winter Soldier wave not including Falcon, the Guardians of the Galaxy wave not including Ronan, the Captain America: Civil War wave not including Black Widow or Hawkeye, and so on. It would make everything feel so much more uncluttered if movie tie-in waves would properly focus only on the movie at hand, if buying an entire movie wave would mean getting a well-rounded display out of it. This practise annoyed so much with Avengers: Endgame. Collectors might not have gotten figures for Captain Marvel, Wong, Black Widow, War Machine MK 6 or a proper Smart Hulk out of the three (3) waves that were made, but they can sleep well knowing they have Rock Python and Nighthawk.

I too was annoyed that a movie, like Endgame, had so many potential choices for Legends but the waves get divided with unrelated comic figures. But then a good majority of the MCU figures we did get weren’t movie accurate. So double edged sword there I guess,

I’ve come to expect and appreciate some of the odd ball choices that slip into these Legends waves. Just seems odd when so many big name characters from the MCU have yet to get made that they’d allot half the wave to non movie figures ( at least the 3rd wave was all movie)

Personally it's them being outdated. Other hasbro lines have better sculpt work and better incorporation of articulation, with cleaner paint apps. Like the other lines are far superior. ML drives me nuts when they use the molds they make no sense for a character like silver surfer on sun fire buck.

At least at the very least if they are not gonna improve accessories or paint apps at the very least roll out a new set of buck that is updated with superior articulation and a better incorpation of that articulation, no more bottom of the barrel figures. Like I cant there is a reason why I stopped buying any figure that is made on old bucks long ago. Boils my blood, seeing all these other  lines get this care but into the figures and then we have legends which does alot of lazy ass #$##.

Qnd then they are going to raise the price thats like putting a bullet with my connection with hasbro, I mean if the quality was better with the things previously stated I would be inclined to pay those prices but ML does alot of mediocre stuff that kills me to even pay 20 at times.

I'm going to mention two which are sort of related: Wiggly/rubbery joints and arms/legs that aren't bent correctly when put into the package at the factory and come out with %*@$ed up lateral bends that are impossible to fix.

Yeah, I got a Citizen V with a bent arm. It doesn't look terrible, but I'm nervous about trying too hard to fix it.

A similar problem I've had is stiff or stuck joints. I have a Caliban shoulder that has to stick out strait all the time. On another figure the ankle joints are so tight the poseability is limited. Not too serious, but unfortunate.

All three of the Stepford Girls I bought have warped legs. Not originally out of the package but as they have sat in storage. Most times this happens to my Legends it’s with the ladies..oh Peggy Carter as well, and with that stiff skirt she is a lot of fuss to get her legs right

i have found simply bending them at the knee and leaving them that way can restore the shape. Just too bad that’s something I’ve had to discover

Just something I'd like to add; Hasbro's female body molds are all horribly outdated by modern standards. I mean no boot/calf articulation or double-jointed elbows is a bit ridiculous

Yeah the Bucks are bad, the female bucks are just pathetic. When we have have similar companies at similar price point incorporating this stuff. Like #$## their other lines have females with double jointed elbows like come on. Like for men and women the Bucks are severely outdated and lacking for the most part, yes their are exceptions, but the majority is outdated. I have said this before, in alot of the ML stuff is seems as if their is no care or heart for the product even in comparison to their other far superior lines in terms of quality like the GI Joe, which I understand is 100% a hasbro property so that is a factor. But ML just kill me.

this is my biggest gripe, also a couple figures have had the rubbery peg holes torn not long after opening

Just to add another one; the inconsistency!

It's like every 10-15 figures, we get one that really, really good looking (the new Thanos, the 80 Years trinity) and they practically look like they're from a whole other line from most of the rest of the figs.

One of my biggest gripes is why can't Hasbro give us stands for these figures?, how hard would it be to pack in a basic stand? they've done it before, all I'm asking is something along the lines of what Mcfarlane does, that way my figures can actually stand instead of 75% of them being in some precarious position ready to topple over, even the least they can do is give us a stand for the chicks with heels whom are basically designed to never stand.

Well, that is the quality man I have been going up and down about this. Hasbro is cheap af when it comes to ML. And their reuse would be nice if their sculpts were updated along with the articulation. But no ML has to one of hasbros weakest lines.

No Legends versions of me and my friends and yet the Z- listers get the action figure treatment.

Lol. Dude, you kill me. I can't hold back my smile every time you go first person with the Warriors Three bit.

As far as my gripe, freakin' scale, all day. Sasquatch, Abomination, Hercules, Silver Surfer, Marvel Girl, MCU Vision, Warpath...all too small. Sandman, Absorbing Man, Cottonmouth, Pyro, Infinity War Thor, Captain Britain, Caliban....all too big. There is zero consistency. Gotta get that isht under control. The Marvel Team is the weak link in this game plan. Get it together.

A fabulous second is accessories.

I agree with the scaling for the most part, and yes they have been lacking in the accessories man.

1. Figures with expressions (smiles, snarling, grimaces etc.) but no extra neutral-expression face/head. This is really irritating. Hasbro has to keep in mind the phenom of figure photography; single expression figures really limit what you can do with them. Reed Richards isn't the smiling type yet they gave him a Pornstar grin. That sure ain't how he looks when he's fighting Dr Doom or Sciencing the shite out of something. Thunderstrike looks comical in his perpetual scream, and Guardian is a cranky old man (still annoyed about that).

2. No calf-swivel on female figures. The wider the leg-spread on the pose, the more awkward the pose looks.

3. Figures that don't come with fists. This should be one of the biggest no-brainers! Namor with no fists?? The guy practically tries to solve every problem with his fists! Even Doctor Strange needs to punch someone in the face from time to time. All Super-hero/ villain figures, male and female, should as a general rule come with fists, or one at the very least!

4. Scale. Nuff said.

5. Comic BAFS in movie waves, or basically BAFS in waves that they don't fit in with. Yes, yes, they do that to help sell figures that otherwise don't have as good a chance at retail, but it's still a chintzy, low-cunning, cheap stunt. BAFs that are directly related to their waves?...That's exciting! It's a better gesture to fans and I believe waves would do better overall as a result if the BAF matched the theme (and era) of the characters.

My gripes are pretty much echoing everyone else but for starters:

Accessories. I bought a $20 figure of Master Chief from Halo yesterday and he came with 5 extra hands, a rifle and a pistol that both could be mounted on his armor. Yet for $25 with Hasbro, Thor came with a fist and mjolnir. Why no lightning effects? I feel like Hasbro cheaps out as much as possible on this.

Women: Seriously. They need to come up with some new bucks and stat. I like the Moonstone buck but every other Marvel lady seems way outdated and janky. And for the love of God stop with the jazz hands. That splayed hand has come with almost every female character I have.

Articulation: This one might seem odd but I list it because for every step forward we get steps backwards. Again with Thor, his head can't move because of his hair but he can scratch his nose which is the sign of amazing articulation. Again with ladies (and deluxe Thanos) they have single joints in places. There should be no single joints in 2021.

Innovation: The biggest innovations we've seen in the past 10 years of ML have been the new imaging for accurate faces, the articulation on Beast and the latest retro Spider-man (they're the only ones to my knowledge who have with that kind of motion) and we're getting pegless joints sometimes. Now that is all impressive but we're talking about the biggest toyline in the world. There should be new innovation constantly with the brain trust involved in this line. But...

Greed: Hasbro cheapens out and spends as little to produce as possible. The afore mentioned lack of accessories and pegless joints, moving production to Vietnam who hasbro admittedgave them a better deal, constant reuse of things and what are they doing? Raising the price. I'm sure because of the license Hasbro has to pay a portion to Marvel but the cost can't be that much more, especially when they said themselves that their cost was getting cheaper because of my examples. Why then is $20 too low?

Now understand, legends is my favorite line because these are my childhood friends being brought to physical reality and no matter I will still be collecting them so long as they produce characters I love. But sometimes I feel like Hasbro only cares about the dollar signs and not the product and stick it to the consumer because they know we're collectors who have to have that character or that specific costume or nostalgic piece for the shelf. But hey, I keep funding them so I guess my complaints are my own doing.

  • Biggest gripe is exclusives. It makes no sense that Hasbro can't get this correct, even after years of piss poor performance and consumer outrage. There is nothing enjoyable about going to an "exclusive" vendor and finding that they sold out in nanoseconds, or that they received like one figure, or they never got the figures at all.
  • Female figures have come a LONG way in the face dept; the improvements are miles ahead of what was offered even 5 years ago. Still, the female figures lack diversity- you wouldn't put Captain America on a Spider-Man buck so why put the Black Widow on Kate Bishop?? There's no reason why they cant have double elbows and calf rotation, and they absolutely need to look like the comic characters they're supposed to be.
  • Teams/waves aren't completed. How did we get Major Vance Astro but none of the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy? Why haven't we seen Triton, Karnak, Gorgon and Lockjaw to go along with Black Bolt and Medusa to close out the Inhumans? Classic Defenders aren't complete, and whatever happened to the Starjammers?
  • Blatant inaccuracies. No wings on FalconCap, no metal-look paint on Iron Man armor, coloring Omega Sentinel white instead of brown as she's from India, totally wrong scale for some figures, making female figures look like teen girls, shoddy paint jobs (too often seen on boots).

I can't believe I forgot to include this in my post. Exclusives are one of the worst things in this hobby. Distribution is already awful and add exclusivity to a figure and its nothing but misery. Tracking down 80th Captain America was one of the most stressful and rage inducing experiences I've had in my years of collecting. That's not how this should work.
