New Look At The Mr. Hyde Build-A-Figure From Shang-Chi-Wave -No Spoilers-

Yesterday as most of us were tuned in to see what new Hasbro reveals that were to be had from the Hasbro Fan Fest event, new images for the upcoming Shang-Chi wave began popping up on social media. The figures apparently have started showing up for sale . Since the people passing these images around on social media never bother to give credit to the original source, it's very hard to say for sure where these are being found, but some of the images definitely show the figures being sold with $23 price tags on them.

We had seen some initial images for this wave pop up last week, but the new images showing up online give us much better look at the figures in the entire wave as well as the bio's on the back of the package. Since this wave is a mix of comic and Shang-Chi: The Legend Of The Ten Rings movie figures, I am breaking up this news post in to two different ones.

I am keeping this post SPOILER FREE in order to give folks who don't want to see movie spoilers our first best look at the Build-A-Figure in the wave which is a comic book based Mr. Hyde figure. Below you will see an image from the back of the package for one of the figures in the wave that shows the figure fully assembled. The other image is a close up of the actual figure which was taken by someone who obviously purchased the wave and assembled the figure. Why they only posted a close-up IDK. The image was posted by rektangular, but I don't think he is the one that actually has the figures in hand.

In my second post I will go into more detail about the actual figures in the wave and the SPOILERS they reveal about the upcoming movie.

The Shang-Chi movie isn't due in theaters until September 3, 2021, so I don't expect the movie figures to be officially released until later this summer, but with them apparently already seeing some kind of limited release, it's only a matter of time be fore we start seeing more and more images of these.

I'm mixed on this one because I don't really want any figures from this line. The only one I wanted was Mr. Hyde and while it's a good figure, I feel like something is a little off. I still may up getting it. Or, I might just buy the head and make an angry Mr. Fixit head.  Shave down the burns and slightly rework the hat. I think that might look good since I never really liked the Mr. Fixit head sculpt that we got. Have a great weekend everyone!

I really don't like it when movie waves, or predominantly movie waves, have comic book build-a-figures. I can sort of understand when a Kree Sentry or Crimson Dynamo is part of the Captain Marvel and Black Widow movie waves, but why are the Man-Thing and Mister Hyde in waves that are 66% movie characters that have nothing to do with them? Not all BAF have to be deluxe-sized; look at Mantis and M'Baku. Collectors should be happy to get the bonus figure, even if it's not the size of the Hulkbuster.

I believe that we'll get the classic Hyde that the vast majority of us truly want when Hasbro makes a couple of waves celebrating one the greatest Avengers story arcs ever, "Siege of Avengers Mansion" by the Zemo led 3rd & powerfullest incarnation of the Masters of Evil!

Wave 1

Bearded Thor

classic Antman

Hercules

Baron Zemo

Moonstone

Blackout

BAF, 10' scale Goliath-Eric Josten

wave 2

Captain Marvel/Photon

Wasp-Red suit

Dr Druid

Wrecker-in scale

Thunderball-in scale

Bulldozer-in scale

Piledriver-in scale

BAF-Mr Hyde

We already have Grey Gargoyle, Whirlwind, & Tigershark. I'm thinking classic Fixer can come in a future IM wave.

Wasp wasn't in the red suit during that story.

The " Siege of Avengers mansion " story arc is my all-time favorite followed by the 3 issue story arc featuring Count Nefaria, it didn't hurt that Buscema  & Byrne were the artists on Those 2 story arcs. The Baron Zemo led 3rd incarnation is the most powerful lineup & full of at least 10 heavy hitters that could press 40 tons or more! The only members I could do without is the female YJ & Screaming Mimi.

I think I can tweak the Mr Hyde figure to look more like the classic. Might use the extra Juggernaut head from the Colossus two pack and hind him a green cloak.

Juggernaut head would be too big. Hyde is not some gigantic character, he's bout 6'7. That's why I hate when editors allow artist to take "artistic license" & draw a character bigger than he actually is cuz then people that have never read comics, end up assuming that's the actual hgt of the character.

I'm sure that Hasbro can repeat Kitty Pryde Onslaught and give us more wild head with some  new upcoming figure.

People have been saying things like that since 2016 and they haven’t done it again to my knowledge. The likeliest scenario is in a couple years we get a deluxe Hyde with a new head and cloak. I would say the only BAF that even has a chance of getting the Onslaught treatment again is Ursa Major. We might get a Grizzly head in an upcoming Spider-Man wave but that would be to make him a completely different character, like Red Skull/Onslaught.
