Marvel Fans France posted on Twitter an image of Christian Bale in his role as 'Gorr the God Butcher'

The Tweet is in french but translated: New filming images of the film "Thor: Love and Thunder" featuring Christian Bale, in his role as "Gorr the God Butcher", have been unveiled!

I'm hoping they'll give Thor his iconic winged helmet back....and his long hair. I swear, in the movies and in the comics they seem to delight in making this guy a shadow of himself.

I can't really tell what he looks like, a painted white face guy in a robe, he could be death from bill & ted for all I can see from these pics.

Yeah agreed at least from these dismal photos anyways, I'm sure they will CGI his face and so forth (one can hope), or his just going to look like Sean Patrick Flanery as Powder the Jedi. 😂

Yeah.. no idea what’s going on here.. no idea who Gorr is so no clue if this is another awesome MCU comic to film translation or a complete redesign. 

What I do know is Bale is a strong actor that raises any movie he is in. He is great even if the movie sucks. 

Remember when we as fans placed actors in MCU or DCEU CAMPS? It really was us fans making these actors as a Marvel or DC people. More and more these lines are blurred as actors take on both companies characters. Hell, even the Rock has one foot in the MCU door with Jungle Cruise.

and DC / WB are advertising Gunn as “ The Director of GOTG “ in their Suicide Squad trailer!! Although I suspect Gunn just made a MCU movie with DC characters. I hear good things about SS, so I’ll be curious where it fits in the overall MCU haha

Gorr is a pretty amazing character in the Thor comics, Basically his story is he grew up on a desolate planet with nothing and his family died of starvation, they prayed to the gods to bring them a better life, and no gods answered , he married and had kids, they all died and yet gods did nothing, he became so angry at the "gods" for letting his family and parents die and he said screw you gods, he got exiled and ended up coming across Knull , basically he ended up getting the symbiote sword All Black the Necro sword and then went on a god killing spree which led him to Thor, blah blah, he's awesome

and looks badass

In short I think we all have high hopes for this character in the MCU, these images of Bale on set, not too impressive.

Wonderful information as always. 

Sounds like Marvel created themselves a cool character. I’ve no doubt the next Thor film will be awesome, hopefully they do this character justice.
