Hasbro and Accessories

So, I've sort of been noticing this happening more often. Figures (generally female ones) are released with like 4 pairs similar of hands, and then that's it. No power effects, no alternate heads, no unique hands to that character.

It's a bit frustrating, I'm glad that they come with so many hands, but Darkstar should never have been released without a power effect.

Kind of a ramble of a post, I suppose. What do you think; should more figures come with actual accessories? Do hands even count as accessories or are they just a given?

Honestly for the price every Legend should come with at least one pair of extra hands and an alt head. Unmasked when applicable or if the character is already unmasked his aktvhead should be a rage head while the default is calm. Or visa versa..

as far as effect pieces.. I’m not sure Hasbro is even trying. How long have we gotten those circular energy effects for any character whose powers emanate from their hands? Or the same webs?

Or their other issue is over engineering their effects like Cyclops’s eye beams that you couldn’t remove..

ive been buying 3rd party effects for years. Or looking at other lines like McFarlane, GI Joe, Fornite to get better accessories

Yeah I do see alternate hands as accessories, but for that matter some figures don't need to have as many extra hands as Darkstar had.  Since Hasbro has the molds I do think they should have at least pumped out one of the older effect pieces in a purple or black, maybe even a gradient with both colors for Darkstar.

It's weird overall though, since Lightning Collection has a greater variety of effects and that line puts them out in enough different colors that I've found myself subbing in some of them for Legends figures that don't have any effects or the right kind.  You'd think that Legends could do at least as well as its sister line in this respect, or better since I'm not sure if it has been directly stated, but it's implied that Legends is one of if not the most successful of Hasbro's six inch lines.

It shows once again that Hasbro probably should be releasing effect/accessory packs through etailers and Pulse.  Generic effect bundles, character specific, doesn't really matter if they have the mix and match ability.

Hasbro needs to release an alternate headsculpt accessories pack for characters that came with screaming head sculpts such as Thunderstrike , Sabertooth, Beast & Hulk. They got Kingpin right with both stoic & yelling angry heads, though they screwed up making him so large.

I'm not sure an accessory pack for specific figures would make financial sense. They would be useful for people who have all the figures in the pack. Of course they should have had the calm heads from the start.

Last year in one of the livestreams they said that they'd discussed the possibility of doing accessory packs, but the problem was that it'd likely be difficult to get retailers interested in such a thing. If it ever does happen I am guessing it'll be a Pulse exclusive like the flight stands they've been doing.

They've done two packs for Transformers (an accessory pack and an effect pack) which came with a figure, Both annoyingly were only available on Hasbro Pulse, but it something they could consider.

They could always do theme packs, an X-Men theme pack covering a few different things.  That could give alternate hands as needed, power effects for Cyclops, Prof. X, Jean, etc., and of course the much needed calm head for Beast.

Hasbro could treat these as different volumes in a series, where subsequent packs cover either more random assortments, or it could be a "through the ages" treatment, with certain eras covered in one pack or the other.

Agree.. I think DC Direct did this very thing with a few accessory sets. Not sure if they were themed overall but they had all kinds of fun extras like Starro spores, a Green Lantern Raccoon.. other things..

im not sure extra heads for figures with Rage heads is feasible as it’s really hit or miss on who’d buy which set.. I’d buy all probably as if a extra head of say.. Madrox was included and I have no connection to him I’d use that head for Black Knight, as I actually did. So any head I didn’t necessarily know that character I’d use him as my guy I do know.

But accessories could be a winner as long as they weren’t just different colors of the same old ones weve gotten a hundred times already. And please no blind bags.. hate that LEGO does that crap, really feel taken advantage if there..

Yeah, I'd take just about anything and they could certainly try a bunch of different assortments to see what sells best.  And definitely, no blind bags, full transparency or nothing.
