It is being reported by Deadline that Disney is switching around release dates for upcoming Marvel movies once again. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is going from March 25, 2022 to May 6, 2022. Thor: Love and Thunder goes from May 6, 2022 and to July 8, 2022. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will now open on November 11, 2022. The Marvels goes to a February 17, 2023 release. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is moving to July 28, 2023. There is one final unnamed Marvel movie that will go from November 10, 2023 to November 3, 2023.

My speculation comes in four parts:

1.  They're pushing things back to a timeframe they feel more confident moviegoing audiences will be back to "normal" to try to avert more lower box office takes.

2.  The rampant delays and issues stemming from COVID related concerns may mean they're lagging behind on follow-on product, so they want to stretch out what they have "in the can" as long as reasonably possible to give themselves time to catch up.

3.  A strike by the "behind the scenes" crew folks was narrowly averted today, and part of the deal that was reached may have involved more relaxed production schedules, necessitating the above.

4.  While Black Widow and Shang-Chi may have been relatively successful in the time of COVID they're still way behind "normal" box office takes, and Disney's bean counters may have told Feige and Co to slow down until things get closer to normal (ties in to #1 above).

The rest make sense, but 4 still feels like an excuse. Every superhero since Black Widow has had made more than the last, Shang-Chi had the biggest Labor Day opening ever and Venom did really well. I’m pretty sure by the time Eternals and especially No Way Home comes out, we should be more or less back to regular box office revenue.

I guess it’s not too long to wait, otherwise the toys would get all screwy again like with Eternals and Shang-Chi. We know we’re getting Ms. Marvel early next year and possible another show, so they might just shuffle thing around and push the Doctor Strange wave back to April and have the 3rd D+ wave and the inevitable NWH wave 2 come out before it.

Makes sense to me. Still all these release dates changing is getting confusing.

The entirety of your post is reasonable, but I think this one makes the most sense considering the timing. I am not sure ‘relaxed production schedules’ is really the right way to frame it though. The negotiations did include language requiring more consistent food and rest breaks. I’m sure some executives overseeing offices and retail workers often refer to mandated lunch breaks as “relaxed productivity schedules.”
