The Goblin Legacy Gets A New Queen

Uuuugh........this Goblin trend is getting to be even more nauseating than both the symbiote and spider clone gimmicks. No clown in the Marvel bullpen has a single original thought in their brainwashed, over inflated, uninspired skulls.

This might be another redo of the same story, but the design looks pretty good

Another rehash of the Green Goblin story. Who is the Goblin Queen this time? Menace? A new character? Why does Marvel feel the need to give a Goblin to every Spider-Man?

I like this design. I do like the goblins...all colors and models. I am glad it's something other than Norman. Guess I'm in the minority that likes this. No, one has read this story. Could be good. Spider-Man has has some hit and more misses lately. But I'd rather wait and see what it turns out to be. If it's bad hate on it. But seems to be the normal and easier than to do to knock something before it is even out  Just my two cents.

Their "legacy" tag is just a cop-out for rip-off copy cat.

When they first killed off the Green Goblin, it made sense. He went to the point where there was no way to go forward. It was a natural progression to the story. But he was Spidey's arch enemy and there's always that desire to bring him back, somehow. So when the Hobgoblin stepped in, that too made sense (at first). But now they've just taken it so far that its boring, cliche'd, unoriginal, and needless.

As seen in a series of teasers today, Spider-Man’s life has been plagued by Goblins for almost 60 years. And this February, a brand-new one will glide into Ben Reilly’s life to continue this tradition. This February, brace yourself for the introduction of QUEEN GOBLIN! This vicious new Goblin with long roots in Spider-Man history is set to put a terrifying spin on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN’s current Beyond Era. Designed by Marvel Stormbreaker Patrick Gleason, QUEEN GOBLIN will make her explosive first appearance in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #88 and continue to plague Spider-Man and much of NYC in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #89 and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #90.

“Queen Goblin was one of the coolest ideas from our BEYOND story summit,” says Exec. Editor Nick Lowe. “All of the writers were riffing on the concept and character and when Pat Gleason dug in on the design we all LOST it. You aren’t going to believe this newest addition to Spidey’s rogue’s gallery!”

“When Nick and Zeb asked me to help with character design for QUEEN GOBLIN in Beyond I was thrilled,” says Gleason. “We went New-Medieval with some tweaks on the old Goblin toys. What’s even more fun is letting her off the chain and watching the rest of the art team like Arthur Adams run with her. The writing team has been working like crazy to make her debut worthy of a Queen. I'm writing a scene now that will hopefully melt some brains too.”

Also coming in February will be a special one-shot written by Geoffrey Thorne with art by Jan Bazaldua and Jim Towe. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #88.BEY will feature the return of the fan favorite super hero team—THE SLINGERS! You didn’t think the Beyond Corporation only had one hero on their payroll? Watch as Hobie Brown ascends to new heights as The Hornet!

Writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Michele Bandini’s run on MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN will also continue to be impacted by the events of the Beyond Era. Issue #35 will see Miles and Shift facing off against Space Stone-host Quantum and the Assessor. And their only hope at victory lies with the Beyond Corporation.

This brief era has been really fun. It was a breath of fresh air after Spencer's run got stale towards its end.

If that Timeless one-shot is anything to go by, Ben is going to become the Spider-Man of Los Angeles. That could be fun.
