New Marvel Legends Guardians Of The Galaxy 5-Pack Revealed

I would have much preferred that this set was a Vol. 1 set, rather than Vol. 2, given that the Vol. 2 figures all still hold up extremely well, though I do understand that there are people that missed the Vol 2 versions. Here's hoping for a set like this for the Vol 1 versions in 2024 for the 10th anniversary. Those old figures look more and more outdated with every new MCU figure we get lol.

A bit of strange set to release now given there will be new Guardians next year.

Maybe so but not without precedent. If you recall, just before volume 2 was released Hasbro re-released the figures from the first movie.

It was actually how I managed to get the wave as I skipped it when the first movie came out because at the time I had no idea who the characters were. Plus I was able to snag Space Armor Iron Man and Nova that I couldn’t find the first time around.

In hindsight, Hasbro releasing the first movies figures again was no doubt because they knew they had a hit franchise at that point and a surplus of previously unknown characters.

I’m torn on this set. I’m an MCU completist but, like the upcoming Black Panther re-release wave, there are only slight paint app differences and nothing new added.

Plus, no set is worth having to visit Epcot.

edit: what’s this set retail for at Epcot? I fear the answer as a lunch for 4 at Disney or Universal runs close to $70 ...

Yeah, it is probably also due the guardians appearing in Love and Thunder that this set exists.

Seriously $125 for a bunch of repaints....That's just crazy.

It is. We have to get used to seeing higher prices these days anyway, not just for multipacks or exclusives. I don't know how much I can last as a collector with all this madness surrounding the cost of the figures.

I ordered it… I need the Drax and Star Lord for my Infinity War display.  I have the figures from GOTG2 but never picked up an additional one of each, and both have more than doubled on the secondary market.

Plus, I’m happy to have Drax with the neutral face in his blue costume.

I can’t tell from trailers and clips if Rocket is in the same costume in “Love and Thunder” or not.  If he is then I’ll throw the Rocket with Star Lord and Groot.  If not, I’ll see if I can sell off Rocket, Groot, and Gamora.

I still really want this Gamora, but I wonder if we will get a much better one next year for GOTGV3, because I like this look for Gamora, I thought this was a well done figure for the time, leaps and bounds better then V1 Gamora that was a pretty willy nilly figure likeness.

Speaking of much better Gamora figures....In the NYCC 22 interview with Boog, the hasbro guys showed a new armored Gamora (from the What If...? series) is coming, but it won't be in an What If...? wave. Maybe Disney+.

Boog did ask about the original Guardians team, and if any of those figures would be done. They confirmed Yondu as "on the list", but said they "couldn't get to every single one of" the others. SMH.

Again, baffling decisions. Star-Lord is being done under the original team logo, even though he had nothing to do with that team, and Yondu is planned, but the rest of the team just languish in limbo? Just months ago in another interview they said they knew fans wanted teams completed, and they were getting those done. Hopefully things will change.
