GeekHangover takes a look at the Marvel Legends Series Excalibur Multipack -  Captain Britain, Marvel's Meggan, And Marvel's Shadowcat from Hasbro.  This Multipack is sold as a Hasbro Pulse exclusive.

I like Captain Britain the most, but all the figures look good here, even Shadowcat which didn't really excite me much.

Good set. Personally don't have a problem with Meggan's smile cause thats how she's most often shown. An alt head wouldve been nice. I remember them saying they "didnt have time" to get Rachel/Phoenix out there, but come on. I mean, they set their own time table. And by now, they've certainly had enough time to make her. 

Hasbro really needs to finish off these teams.

I totally agree.  We need the other members too, but with everything that's coming I don't know if they managed to get Rachel to their list too.

It never made sense to me. If they didn't have time, why not just wait till she was ready and then put out a 4 pack? Don't tell me its about "cost" 'cause this is from the same crowd that plunked down $400.00 for a Sentinel. Or, over $25.00 for a scrawny Madame Hydra that's on the same outdated figure that retailed at $19.99. Oh and if its they prefer 5 packs, fine, just toss in a Captain Britain in his original red outfit.

I really like this set but I prefer a Hasbro go the Alpha Flight route and give us the entire team at once. Ok, 99% of a whole team. Better than 3/5... though I can understand why another Nightcrawler wasn’t included.. 

i wonder though if we will ever see full team packs like the Children of Thanos or Alpha Flight. The CoT set were highly detailed and more movie accurate but the Alpha set were mostly basic repaints. But at the new price point, unless it’s something truly special, I’ve got to think Hasbro has priced themselves out of sets like these

I'm still super happy we even got this set, but I do wish Meggan had an alt head with a neutral expression, but I got over it, I still really like that figure, and this was the Kitty I always wanted, this is how I remember Kitty for me as a kid, because I grew up being a huge fan of the Excalibur books, it was one of my fav teams, I think this set obviously would have been superior if they gave us Racheal, which bugs me a bit they didn't , I just hope shes coming in the future, one of my gripes with this set is how brittle Kitty was (at least for me) I can't move her right arm (it's going to snap), and her hand broke out of the socket instantly, QC man! either way it's kinda a dream come true to have these 3 figures especially Meggan and this Kitty, Cap Brit is obviously the better figure over the Abomination wave so I'm happy to have it, but I kinda find some charm in that more modern look figure, I could have been content if they swapped him out for a Racheal.

I don't always understand how they make their decisions. If they were planning to make a Rachel figure, but decided not to include her because she wasn't ready, I'd bet she's not far away. Honestly though when it comes to this case, I wouldn't mind waiting more to get a more complete set, it's like what they do with the movie waves, personally I don't mind waiting to get more screen accurate figures and also more in quantity because spoilers are out of the way, instead of stuff mainly based on concept art that many times desperately need a redo afterwards. So waiting perhaps more for something more completed, yeah I don't mind doing that.

Well its almost a year since the set came out, so that's more than far away. They've had ample time to do it, and to finish off a LOT of these super teams.  But this is their psychological manipulation strategy: put out a team that's about 70-80% done, make the fans wait and wait and wait and then, years later, spring that coveted missing team member on. I really think its unnecessary, though, and could backfire with fan backlash.

That of course has to manifest at the cash register; ranting on these forums means nothing until fans stop shelling out dough.

It is unnecessary and like you're saying this won't change as long as we're still buying. They keep giving us hard times with their releases probably more than the good times and it is one of the worst things in this hobby, but I don't see it changing soon. Even if dedicated collectors stop or buy significantly less, new ones will take their place. And if we all stop then it won't be long before they'll stop making these figures.

Just think: Rachel will be on a better female buck. So I don't mind this being a 3-Pack and getting Rachel on a regular wave with a BAF part and with sturdier legs.

That's fine. A toy corporation that stops making toys is only hurting themselves. Their shareholders don't give a fig about us (the consumers) or really even the product; but they do want that paper. And any exec who signs off on shutting down on production to spite the consumers, is gonna find themselves out of a job. Its way past time collectors wake up and realize...these companies aren't feeding us, we're feeding them. 

And if they just listened they'd find out we don't mind feeding them, long as we're getting a decent product at a reasonable price. Sure, they made money off Excalibur but they could have made so much more for a completed set.

Will she? I share your hope, but don't see much evidence for this yet. 'Cause I sure thought that with the long delay, when classic Storm appeared, she'd be perfect. Instead they made the figure fantastic but flattened the upper torso. When Binary and Madame V appeared, I too thought they'd be on new improved and sturdier bucks. Not the case, certainly not for Madame Hydra. 

I sure do hope they will make newer more realistic female body types. Once they do, they'll be able to put out products I can spend my money on.

Well you're not wrong. Unfortunately I don't see this situation changing. I don't get figures that don't deserve my money anymore even of characters or designs that I really, really like and that's quite some figures now that I think about it. Which means less money for them, but I'm one guy, I can't ''hurt'' Hasbro like this. And I definitely can't convince other collectors to think like me or do what I do, in order for this to have a major impact, cause figures that don't deserve my money might be more than welcome to someone else's collection, even though I try to be as objective as possible.

Nightcrawler included w/ Rachel would have made an awesome 5 pack. Especially since not everyone got a hold of Nightcrawler the first time, and he's a bit pricey on the secondary market.

While Cap Brit is the runaway winner of this set for me, both Megan and Shadowcat are great plastic representations of their 80’s looks. Can’t be mad at Hasbro for giving us exactly what the artist drew when the comic came out
