I say again:  Find me a directly comparable vehicle in terms of quality and features in this scale for $100-$120, and link us ASAP.  I'm sure a great many people here would gladly shell out $100-$120 for such a thing.

I'm also pretty sure you're going to be looking a looooong time because such a thing probably doesn't exist.

What are the features though? Opening doors, and a light up feature? I'm looking for those of higher quality than say the WWE vehicles with the action features. I don't really see the "great quality" that people speak of. Every vehicle so far has been pretty standard/cheap. Some of these are RC, which have more features, but have canopies that can fit (or mostly fit the figures). And people repaint and repurpose the TMNT vehicles all of the time. None of those outside of the collectors lines are over $100.

The Batmobile is RC, has lights and fits figures. That right there invalidates any high price. The Jada Warthog & Click-N-Play (even though that's 1:6) are probably a great assessment of the price range. There's also those 1:12 diecast military jeeps that go between $60-$80 on ebay.

Admittedly, there is no vehicle comparable. The WWE vehicles are a step in that direction and McFarlane's Batmobile shows a decent one can be done "good enough" but whether there is a comparable one or not there is absolutely nothing justifying the price tag. Almost everyone who saw the Haslab up close have said the thing looks a lot less impressive in person. LED lights are dirt cheap. Again I say, lay out the flat plan of this vehicle, both inside and out against just the exterior plan of the Sentinel, also taking into account the working joints and internal mechanic. Not even close. I am fairly certain, if some time during these death throws when they were trying to force our hands with these very desirable tier rewards had they just brought the price to around $250 it would have most likely funded. That's $150 for the car (still too much, IMO) and 4 figures at 25 each. It would have been a much more convincing case.

I really do hope Hasbro learns from this. I consider this vehicle worth $200 tops. I saw the light up features at the cons and wasn’t super impressed with the flashing supposed to emulate fire. I’d say drop the flashing option and the risers, maybe even the opening trunk. Replace Madeline with Balckout or Bleackheart (put Maddie in the X-waves where she belongs). Come back with this in six months for two hundo and it’ll sell. Oh and give Big M some decent looking shoes and a monsterous second head while your at it.

I just can't understand how they thought this would fly. It just shows how little they think of us as fans, that they think we'll swallow just about anything they throw at us. That sends a very dangerous precedence. I tried to convince myself, I really did. I jumped in and then out twice, but in the end I really couldn't stomach the price, and eventually, after receiving my Galactus I was convinced it was not worth it. Not by any measure. I hope we get to see those figures in multi-packs or through Pulse or etailer exclusives cuz those characters deserve to be done and as customers who have supported this line we deserve them to be done.

Yeah, so many things went wrong with this HasLab.  As for the figures, there is nothing stopping Hasbro from using Alternate looks for those characters., like Mephisto's Lizard faced form.

It appears we can put a fork in the 2022 Haslab. Although the current backers don't include all the international backers I assume. I remember the Galactus numbers rocketing up at the end because Hasbro said they had not been counted until the very end. Either way, I can't see it coming close to being successful. I have mixed feelings about this offering. On one hand, I really would have liked a Mephisto figure after all these years, and Son of Satan was on my shrinking list of Defenders I hoped would be made. On the other, I don't have a strong attachment to the main character nor his vehicle. I think it is really nice, and I applaud Hasbro for stretching out and finally doing a 6" scale vehicle. However, I still feel the Fantasticar would have been a more universally embraced choice for most collector fans (A scale Blackbird probably being scale and cost prohibitive).  From a marketing standpoint, I think Hasbro would have been more prudent in researching fan interest in a switch from massive scale, very popular character offerings to a vehicle and third generation Ghost rider character, to lead their campaign. To just drop it on us and expect it would go over as well as the previous two, was some real hubris. They should have gauged expectations much earlier to see collector reaction and interest - do they do focus groups anymore, online or otherwise? Perhaps they would have gotten a clear message early on that this was not the way to go yet. I also think that beyond a Sentinel (which can easily be an army builder and sell in multiples to individual collectors) and the long and much-loved Devourer of Worlds, there are not a lot of oversized characters you can get 10-20 thousand fans to back at $300-400.00 apiece.  There are a few names out there; Foom, Giant Apocalypse, and Giant Man, but the list grows short past that. I for one would love a giant, comic accurate Surtur, but I realize there are probably not 10-20 thousand other collectors willing to shell out for it as well. I also said this last year after the Galactus Haslab was in the books, and I think it holds true now even more so after a year of record inflation - I think Hasbro could have potentially hit an economic wall with fans if they had tried another $350-400.00 figure this year anyway. I feel there was potential wallet fatigue by many collectors and the economy for many has been soft as well as pricy. Wages aren't keeping up with cost of living, much less deposable income for an expensive figure- for a third year in a row. I had suggested that Hasbro give fans a breather, maybe try a much smaller scale Haslab that was much more price friendly, but could potentially sell more units due to both their character demand and price point. My suggestion was Dragon Man. The old, undersized ToyBiz figure still sells for hundreds on eBay. An updated, scale accurate version could have been very welcoming to fans for around a $100.00 give or take. When I pass the Walmart's toy section, I see a similarly sized T-Rex and other dinosaurs from the latest Jurassic World movie selling around $50-70.00 or so.  Even with the much higher prices we seem to pay for large Marvel characters, I could really see a Dragon Man selling extremely well for the company. BTW, I often wonder if the licensing fee Hasbro pays Disney for Marvel characters is for some reason a much higher percentage than other brands, like Star Wars or GI Joe. I'm sure someone out there knows the answer to that. To me, that would explain some of the prices we see for not very large, oversized plastic characters. Well, I do hope the Hasbro Marketing Team sincerely learned some things this year, both about future Haslab offerings, and us adult collectors, who are truly their market for this line, not children pestering their parents at the department store.

You can't really use prices from years ago as a baseline, and none of those are actually comparable products. Setting that aside, you kind of invalidate your own argument as soon as you say "Outside of collectors lines" when this is unquestionably a collector-oriented product.  Here's what I mean by "comparable quality":

Interchangeable parts, opening doors and trunk, leds (interior and exterior), sounds, detailed interior with room for 3-4 1:12 scale figures, and you pretty much know what to expect in terms of durability and build quality.

Basically find me almost this exact product (minus figures) for $120 or less.  I guess we'll see if Ramen toys can reach your purported price, but I'm really doubting it.

Can't see any significant difference. Black Panther and Gen Ross are characters. If the actors portraying them resign, are fired, etc it doesn't mean the character is wiped out. Sean Connery is widely regarded as the best Bond, but if they hadn't hired other actors to play the character, then we would never have gotten all the great films in the franchise that followed his departure.  I think Boseman did a fantastic job and its a shame we didn't get to see him do more, but re-casting is not unheard of; after all they've had 3 big-screen Hulks and noone had a problem with that. Its just bizarre that people are acting like there can't be another actor to fill this role. The Black Panther should be in the MCU, full stop. Not just some supporting cast or stories focused on a city.

I think it’s a little disingenuous to say “find me the exact same thing for less” because you know no one else has made a flaming charger-type vehicle for a character with a flaming skull. You’ve set impossible goals for your challenge and then sort of belittle or mock people for not achieving them as if you can say “gotcha!” A realistic and honest challenge would be asking for links to something comparable. And the Mattel Batmobile is comparable. It’s for the same size figure. It holds fewer figures but it’s bigger. (And let’s be honest, who are you going to put in the car besides Robbie? Nobody.) Fewer interchangeable parts but more electronic features. Inch for inch about the same amount of detail. It’s overall quality is about the same as the Hellcharger and it gets a boost for being RC. I don’t even really like Batman but if that Batmobile can be made and sold for less than $200 AND placed on shelves, the Hellcharger could be sold for a similar price especially when they know every single one is getting sold via Haslab.

I am so sick of hearing about the price of a batmobile that came out years ago. Everything is more expensive now. I paid 100 for the Slave One 8 years ago. Now it's 200. So.

And as far as not having anyone in that car...dude is an Avenger. I wanted to have Widow in the back, Cap riding shotgun pointing an "Avengers Assemble!" out the window, with Blade on the roof swinging his sword! I was sooooolooking forward to this.

This was overpriced, but not as much as people are saying. If it was 150 over the HISS was 100 too much. The thirsty Joe fans didn't even make them sweat. And now Joe and McFarlane fans are leading the "hold the line" charge. It is @%$ed. Why are any Marvel fans listening to them?

The real problem is the lack of nostalgia for Robbie. If he had been in an 80s cartoon, even if it was bad, it would have sold in a weekend like Eternia or a 450 dollar Thundertank. I was worried about this from minute one. I just wish more people were reading. He's a great character. Way more compelling than Danny imo. And yes I read those 90s issues off the rack. He's on my "must have" list. And like the people who actually bought Puck for 100 dollars on ebay, I don't care. I'm bummed about this whole thing. And no, we aren't gonna get a 3 pack. We aren't gonna ever get a chance on this car and characters again.

Will never really know I guess but I could’ve seen myself getting sucked in to backing this thing if they had presented classic definitive versions of Mephisto and Hellstrom (which I’m glad they didn’t but). If this was really the only time they’d make those characters, they chose the wrong looks imo.

There's the main problem, aside from the ridiculous over pricing. The project is supposed to be about the CAR...and its just not good enough. Most people are more concerned about the potential figures (I was too). The car is just weak sauce. While I maintain Galactus and the HISS Tank were also overpriced, regardless how well they were done (and that HISS was REALLY well done), they were the main draws for the project. They starred on their own, and it showed.

Haslo didn't learn from its previous failures, most notably the Star Wars Rancor. Again, an overpriced item that didn't have the necessary quality, and when it came to any of the tiers, didn't give the fans what they wanted.  This car was just not what they wanted.

Dwight said they can't release Goblin queen in anything more risque than the outfit she had for the Haslab. He didn't rule out one of her other outfits (more conservative), or another look for Mephisto for the future, but from what he told folks in interviews recently, it sounds like these exact figures are never coming out without the Haslab going forward.

True. Despite what was said, I don't buy for a second that they can't release GQ or really, any figure they dang well choose. Especially since they barely deliver to brick and mortar in the first place, especially since they have Pulse, and especially now with windowless boxing? There's ust no excuse. Frankly, those exact figures not getting released is no loss, because we want the figures released in their classic forms. Refusing to make them now is just cutting off their nose to spite their face.

It is beyond all reason that you, I and anybody else, were completely free to buy the comics and statues these characters appeared in when we were kids, but now in the 21st century, are being told that they're too...whatever....to be sold in plastic action figure form, now that we're adults. I cannot even believe this is a discussion.

This is a good day. I hope the real lesson learned here for hasbo is that they need to seriously listen to their customer base.

Honestly, I don’t need anyones forgiveness because I don’t owe any other collector the realization of their toy dreams. Not to mention, that I don’t have the power to stand in your way. The Hellcharger offering came across to me as insulting and greedy and it’s my own values I answer to when I don’t participate or when I speak up about how I feel. If any person was able to influence another not to by this product, I see that only as a reflection that the offering was substandard according to what the market could support. That just economics, baby. My life will be identical whether anyone “forgives” me for that or not. You need to rage and blame? You do you, my fellow fan.

if people didn't want to buy it for whatever reason, then that is their choice. There is nothing unforgivable about it. Their money, their choice. It's not just about you. This was a poorly price haslab and people spoke with their money which is their right. You need to grow up and realize that it not just about you.
