Display collection by storyline?

With the Haslab Galactus ready to drop I’m 1 massive character closer to completing a display for one of the greatest storylines ever: Marvel Comics Secret Wars

this got me thinking..since the early ToyBiz days and into the 3.75” Marvel Universe line, I’ve always dreamed of getting the Ultimate Secret Wars display.  My attempts failed poorly with the ToyBiz offerings either due to scale or story accurate costumes but I got pretty dang close with the MU line..though ultimately falling short.

Without even realizing it, I’m pretty close now to getting every character from that series into plastic form. For Heroes I’m only missing Classic Cyclops, Mohawk Storm and Monica Rambeau Captain Marvel. My villains are a bit more sparse missing Enchantress, The Wrecking Crew, the Absorbing Man, the Molecule Man, Dr Octopus, Titania and Volcana. I’ve got Lizard and Galactus on the way. 

Im a bit OCD so I’m trying my best to get all characters in the suits they wore in the storyline.

i was a huge MU 3.75 fan and through that line I was able to get close to doing the same with many other storylines that were near and dear to my heart. For example, I was close to getting the lineups for the classic XMen v Avengers mini series lineups ( that almost included completed the Russian Super Soldiers line up as well). 

Other dream storyline lines that involve both good and evil teams include UNDER SIEGE, OPERATION GALACTIC STORM, ACTS OF VENGEANCE from my beloved Avengers comics as well as Universe spanning stories like Infinity Gauntlet, Evolutionary War and Atlantis Attacks storylines.

is anyone else out there a fan of eras of classic Marvel and trying to recreate lineups or teams that you fondly recall from your youth or specific shows,games, storylines? Nothing is off limits, whether it be the old Avengers Arcade game with the Neo Classic Iron Man,White Vision etc,  the XMen arcade lineup, Secret Wars, XMen animated, Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes cartoon, Jim Lee era XMen,  Byrne era West Coast Avengers, Contest of Champions ( though good luck getting plastic representations of some of those racial stereotypes haha) the Kree/ Skrull era Avengers.. obviously so many possibilities,.. what is your dream display ???

for specific storylines would like to get

• most of the villain squad from the Avengers Under Siege storyline
•  Secret Wars villain roster (need Molecule Man, Titania & Volcana, and a new wrecking crew)
•  4 serpent society members from the old Marvel Two -in - One Serpent Crown affair (I don't really care about the rest of the serpent squad)... note we also need Triton and Stingray from this story
• GotG from the DnA run on the title, which mostly felt like one long storyline to me anyhow

That's off the top of my head, I'm sure I can think of more.

I don't really create permanent displays based around storylines but would certainly assemble some temporary ones to enjoy and take pics of.

I always wanted to have a complete collection of all of the characters from the 1st Secret Wars as well, I don't display them all together, but I might if I finally have that line up finished, as it was such an awesome line up and great story to me (as a kid), I don't really care if they are in their exact outfits from the story but close enough would be awesome, in the hero department I'm still missing Prof X. the Villains I'm missing Molecule Man, Wrecking Crew, Titania and Volcana and Dr. Octopus (but that should be remedied soon). Also would be pretty cool to get a Beyonder at some point.

Dude, I'm chasing that same Secret Wars dream as you.  I'm with you on the outfits, too, and you know who I bet it all comes down to in the end?  Wasp.  Wasp in that green & purple getup.  Mark my words, when we get Volcana and Molecule Man and all the rest, she's going to be that one piece of unfinished business.

The other complete set I've been dreaming of completing one day is the complete cast of the Captain America and the Avengers arcade game.  Just for the obvious reason: that it is the single greatest video game in history.  Giant Mechanical Taco is gonna be a #$##.

Ha that game is a real winner, not just Mech Taco the giant Octopus, how about "Giant Robot" who is clearly a Sentinel, Control (x2) who is 2 Controllers, The most tiny puny Juggernaut ever (Juggernaut the same size as Cap), yeah what a Game.

Yeah I remember the circle for a face, not sure what was going on with that, they really took artistic liberties in that game, I still can remember those horrible noises when you got hurt "nooooo" who yells no when they get hit by a super villain? like no don't hurt me? or no...i was lacking and got hit? either way Captain America and Avengers Gamerverse figures...Mech Red Skull BAF..uh yeeea

Yes. Absolutely. The Beyonder is a must. 

Though his original Secret Wars look is up to your imagination. I guess my “perfect” Beyonder would be the white jumpsuit, black perm look from Secret Wars II.. with a first appearance blond alt head

Agree completely. That very specific wasp suit may have to be a custom job. Or random luck that Hasbro pulls that look out of a hat. 

Also, the Captain America and the Avengers game is one of my display wishlist ideas too!! Obviously the main 4, playable characters are done  but that Iron Man needs a serious redo. I’m trying to recall all the NPCs that show up throughout.. Wonderman, Quicksilver (running impossibly slow haha) Wasp, Namor... does Scarlet Witch make a cameo?!? Dang it’s been so long..

Haha forgot about the “not a Sentinel”.. 

those “Controller” brothers frustrated me badly..

many of those character designs were clearly inspired by real Marvel characters.

but this game, to this day, is one of my favorite gaming experiences

I hear you. There are no permanent displays in my collection.. I’ll change it all up on a whim but every now and then a specific storyline will inspire me and I’ll see how close I can get. 

UNDER SIEGE is my #2 dream storyline display. Again, the Wasps specific costume ( Yellow and black in this case) may end up being the one that keeps this from completion

My dream is to get all of the Avengers involved in the Korvac Saga and display them in the Collector's tubes, just like in the story. My dream on top of that dream is to get all classic Avengers from the original five all the way to Lionheart and display them all in the Collectors tubes.

I’d double “thumbs up” you if it were allowed. Another excellent storyline and glad to see another Avengers fanatic on the board.

ive been getting the NECA “display tubes” I guess is what they are but they could easily double for the collectors stasis chambers. They come in 7” and 4” figure sizes. Just a thought if you hadn’t considered it.

right now though my tubes have Jada Toys Universal Monsters in them. But your post makes me think I need to go get more for that storyline
