Hasbro this evening for their 1027 Live-Stream event revealed three more figures in their 2023 Avengers Comic themed Marvel Legends wave joining the two figures they showed during Pulse-Con.

- Classic Orb
- Molecule Man
- Wonder Man
- Yelana Belova Black Widow
- Baron Von Strucker

This leaves the Ultimate Captain America and Extremis Iron man figures yet to be officially revealed along with the Build-A-Figure which we do not yet know. This is likely going to be the first wave for 2023 to go up for pre-order and its possible we may see the rest of the wave on display this weekend during the MCM London convention. If so we will be sure to update you here.

For Wonder Man I was hoping for the same costume as the Toybiz figure. Why choose the Safari Jacket over the classic Red and Black costume?

cause many people have been asking for it due to the fact that is his most famous look, which he wore during Perez's original run, when he was a member of the WCA and when he was a member of the Mighty Avengers. He always comes back to it.

They more or less already did that look way back when Civil War came out.

Or at least the costumes were close enough that there was probably little point in doing the 80s version.

True; this has been one of the most asked-for costumes since Silver Centurion. Sadly, like that beloved armor, this too has fallen short. I'm not sure why they gave him baggy pants instead of the "leggings" he wore. But if this render is any indication, they got the colors right, they got his head right and there is no denying that that is the Wonder Man safari jacket. Perhaps I'll warm (no pun intended) to this jacketed figure.

Now all we need is Simon in his original green/red and then the purple ionic energy form.

Wish Yelena came with an unmasked face (or that the mask was removeable), but I suppose that'll probably be a variant somewhere else down the line.  Or a pack-in with a future Natasha fig.

I fear the build-a-figure for this wave will be underwhelming.  Only because it always seems like when the wave is strong the BAF is weak (and vice-versa), and this (IMO) is a pretty strong wave.  Only Orb and the rumored Ultimate Cap would get side-eye from me (A better Extremis Iron Man mold seems badly needed as far as the other rumored fig), and Orb is still OK because he's at least someone new.

here is the inspiration for Yelena. Basically she was resurrected by AIM and began wearing this.

Oh, I know where the inspiration is from.  I wasn't saying it's inaccurate, or even that it's bad (actually quite nice given the accessory loadout).  Just that I'd have liked an unmasked face along with it.

The perfect Wonderman! Finally. I'm ok with the baggy pants, are we 100% sure he's not worn them? They feel familiar.

Regardless, I may need two, this suit is so iconic I need one for his early Avengers run as well as his starting lineup role in the 1st WCA limited series. Also, so glad his glasses are translucent. McFarlane toys really dropped the ball on this simple detail with their recent Booster/Beetle set.

Glad that Yelena isn't a simple headswap. Not familiar with this specific suit but glad they didn't cheap out.

Strucker looks amazing, glad to get him updated.

Molecule Man is amazing as well. A much needed addition and with the recent release of Galactus, once this guy is in hand I'm one more key step to completing the Secret Wars rosters. Or a huge spot on a FF villain shelf.

Orb is a waste of plastic and a spot on an Avengers wave. XMen fans, does this happen to you? A spot getting wasted on a lame @$$ character taking up a slot that a more appropriate AVENGERS character ( or villain) should be in? Seems to happen to Avengers fans all the time but from what I know of the XMen, they seem to get at least recognizable characters more times than not.

Can't wait to see the rest as well as the rumored Black Knight / Sersi 2 pack. And Monica Captain Marvel. So happy that Hasbro is recognizing the Avengers are in a Anniversary year as well

Dang you're right, the green/ red suit is another must have suit! ( assuming you mean his masked suit from early Avengers and not that clown suit he worn in the West Coast era)

While I wouldn't mind a update of the Toybiz one ( to me his 3rd most recognizable suit behind Safari and Classic Green/red) I can take or leave a full on ionic form redo.

Now that Safari is upcoming ( so excited, can't believe it's FINALLY being made) the classic green/red is my new most wanted.

As often as I complain about the recent price hikes ( and I do every chance I get!) every now and again Hasbro gives me that 1 figure I would have paid double for! ( not really, but this is my joy level)

Well done Hasbro

You need to read original sin where he played a major role in it. Since it was mostly an avengers story hegot slotted into their rogue as well.

Plus people have been wanted orb for a while. I'd rather have him take a spot here then not at all.

Also this happens to spiderman all the time. Gwenpool? Ms marvel? Moon Knight? Not what you think when you think of spidey is it?

X-Men has a slight advantage in having several years where they were basically absent from the line, so they had a good bench of characters and costumes to "catch up on" once they got back into regular rotation.  Even so, there have been some characters that despite being perhaps "recognizable" on longevity alone, weren't exactly hot sellers.  Skullbuster, Shiklah, Black Tom Cassidy, Vulcan (at least around here), Disco Dazzler, Moira Mactaggart, of course legless Cannonball, several of the AoA figs...most of these ended up getting clearanced around here.  (I do obviously consider "Deadpool/X-Force" waves to be X-Men waves, too).

The vast majority of Avengers have been made in some form or another.  Yes, there are still plenty to do but bluntly outside of costume variations they're really down to C and D-list Avengers. The biggest omissions IMO are Crystal and Starfox and that's more because of those characters' prominence in places OUTSIDE Avengers (Seriously, how the hell hasn't Crystal been made already?  I would've figured her as a shoe-in for one of the older Walgreen's exclusives (with a bunch of elemental FX), but it was not to be).

While I'd be perfectly happy to have characters like Living Lightning, Firebird, and Doctor Druid...they're not exactly folks most of the general public are clamoring for or have even heard of.

Orb is a rare Ghost Rider foe.  It's an odd place to put him in the line, but Avengers often seem to be a bit of "catch all"...IMO he probably could have been in a Spider-Man wave since Ghost-Rider has occasionally shown up in those, but I'm fine with getting him either way.

Is that Orb in Orginal Sin? I own the trade but thumbing through I thought that was Nick Fury who was being punished for killing the Watcherc so some cosmic force made his head go all.... “Orby”.. guess my mind made a better story than what was published 😂

You’re not wrong. While as an Avengers completist I absolutely need Druid, Lightning and Firebird but your point is valid.  Outside of myself and a few others who would scoop them immediately, the rest of the world probably would shrug.

The above scenarios played out when they revealed Jocasta, Rage, Hellcat and Thunderstrike. I was giddy but for most of the on shelf run, they were quite easy to come by.

i myself shrugged when they revealed Blue Marvel, Ex Nihilo and niche costumes for Hercules and Spider-Woman. But...completist, so....

also, great point about the XMen. Once they were allowed off the bench, their team exploded from scraps to riches. And again you’re right, many of the characters you mentioned did and still get warmed around my area. So I guess I just don’t like the Orb haha

Nooot bad. Not bad. Strucker looks good, and Molecule Man is a must. Orb is kinda dope but I'm wavering on him, and Wonder Man....hmmm. Yeah, I agree that they missed the mark there too, plus I'm not a fan of the grin; I don't recall WM being much for joking or pornstar grins. Black Widow I'd get for customizing. But...if Ronan is the BAF then this criticism is a moot point. I need that Ronan figure, and that's all there is to it!

I imagine this is the one and only safari jacket Wonder Man they’ll ever do so I feel like I gotta get it since I’ve wanted this version for soooo long. Just gonna have to fix the issues I have with it madam self.

Gotta scoop up classic Strucker too. Looks great imo though would’ve been nice if they included an alternate hand to swap out with the gauntlet.

Yelena not coming with a maskless head just tells me they’re gonna pull some double dippage with her. Looks cool still but am just wanting a direct update of the toybiz version anyway.

I couldn't call him perfect. His pants should have that skin tight look (Luke Cage had those too); that's its usual. A few issues after the safari jacket was introduced, there was a panel (I think Sal Buscema filled in as artist because Perez had left the book for a spell) where he's flying indoors, wearing slacks, shoes, with NO knee-high red boots...the next panel we see him, its corrected and he's back to the skin tights and red boots). When Byrne took over, he did draw the leggings more like pants for a time, but then went back to the superhero look.

Its an odd decision on their part but what I feared....that they would take something thats easy to do, done  a million times before, but then do something that throws it off. Like what they did with Blue Marvel, Dormammu, Madame Hydra (no, scratch that off the list....that wasn't a "little" wrong that was ALL wrong. Firelord's  a better example), Omega Sentinel, Shocker, Siryn,....

In Wonder Man's case its not horrible, it just wasn't necessary to mess it up like that.

This wave is looking very good so far, I already want most of this wave, Orb is a must get, same with Molecule Man, Strucker and Yelena. Easy Pass on that Wonder Man though.

They just gave him Molecule Man's legs and boots, if these renditions are correct. Arms might be the same too but those legs definitely are.

If you disregard the Cap and Iron Man we haven't yet seen, the entire wave is "off" for an Avengers wave. I would've expected Strucker to be in a Cap or SHIELD wave, to be honest. Molecule Man fits better in a Fantastic Four wave. Overall they could easily have swapped a lot of these out for Yellowjacket, Whirlwind, Count Nefaria and a corrected (!) Quicksilver. OR Red Wolf for the deep dive, Mockingbird (sleeves), Graviton, classic Hercules, and it would be a better Avengers wave. But we know how hasbro be.

So hey, if nothing else, they've got something to shoot for the next time they do an Avengers wave, right?

yeah Wonder Man is off, but that's not why I'd be passing, I already am Happy with the Wonder Man I have which is my preferred look for him, I actually really don't like this outfit and never did, that's my whole thing about it, even if it was accurate I'd still pass easy.

That makes sense. No point in getting something you don't like (I'm not a Cable fan at all, but admit that last one they did was spot-on; I didn't get it for much the same reason as you). Wonder Man's had about three outfits that I think most fans want to see: this one, the Ionic form (the "de-powered" black/red tank top has already been done by both hasbro and toybiz),  and my fave, his first appearance suit.

Yeah I mean granted if this BAF for the wave is something I want I'll buy all of the figures required to build it, so Wonder Man would be a purchase, I wouldn't likely keep him though, I do wonder what this BAF will be, seems likely it will be a good one just judging by this wave, I wonder who will be the BAF part-less figure though IM or Cap, I like em both but have no desire to own either.

After checking out the booth photos, Wonder Man looks perfect. Not a character I usually have a lot of interest in, but with them recently redoing Sentry I may pick him up to add to my Mighty Avengers display.

Extremis Iron Man is another homerun. I've been waiting on this one for a while so I'm glad to see they didn't phone him in. I didn't need a new Ultimate Cap but he looks great. I'd like if they eventually started filling out the rest of the Ultimates at some point as well.
