Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito shared in an email to their staff Thursday before the SAG-AFTRA stoppage on Friday concerning the matter of multiple films and TV shows in post-production.

Quote

“We recognize how much you’ve all done on your specific projects and it’s disappointing when carefully laid plans have to shift, but constant change is the nature of the production business, and our teams are no stranger to unexpected challenges and rising to meet them,” Feige and D’Esposito wrote. “We deeply appreciate all your efforts to make the best of the situation, and we can all hope that a new agreement will be finalized soon so we can resume the great work we have in process.”

This news comes as both Deadpool 3 and Venom 3 have stopped production and a possible schedule change for Spider-Man: Beyond Spider-Verse originally set with a release on March 29th, 2024.

Uummmm, wasn't it the CEO of Marvel's parent company Disney that said he was cool to let this strike drag out until people started losing ther apartments and homes? That was rhetorical. It totally was. I know Feige probably has good intentions here but really how much hope can you garner when the man he answers to has a completely conflicting opinion?

so he can't encourage his people? Because his boss is an ass? Is that what you're saying? Come on. Use your head.

Just because he works for a bigger company doesn't mean he can't support the people working for him. He is allowed to have an opinion that doesn't make some one higher then him. Disney may own Marvel but at the end of the day, it's own separate sub company, with its own rules. Sony may have it's own movie company but that part of the company can't dictate what the Video Game side does or the Anime side or any of the others.

What do you think Iger is going to force Fiege or any of the sub companies to fall in line? You think he would fire them for that? Do you have any idea how much legal trouble they would get into if they did?

No at the end of the day you should be praising Fiege, not denouncing him because of what Iger said.

Nope. Bob Iger didn’t say anything like that. He did say that he thought the unions were being “unrealistic”, which is nonsense, but the quote about waiting it out until people went broke wasn’t him.

That's why I said he has good intentions. And his boss is an ass but he is his boss. And the boss always has the final word.

We don't actually know for sure that Iger didn't say that. None of the articles that quote that studio executive attribute a name. It could have been Bob Iger, David Zaslav, Tony Vinquerra, Ronald Meyer, Ted Sarandos, Greg Peters...

The CEO of Disney doesn’t confidentially leak publicly damning corporate strategy to a trade reporter. That’s just nonsensical. I mean yes, the executives weren’t named, so theoretically it COULD be anyone who works at a film studio. But if that’s the only criteria you’re just attributing the quote at random.

Please note, I’m not defending Iger. I’m sure he absolutely intends to wait the guild members out rather than give in because that’s what they’re all doing. I’m just saying there’s no reason to assume he said so to Deadline.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not attributing anything. That was someone else who did that. What I said was we don't know for sure who it wasn't, because we don't know for sure who it was, and that it could have been any studio executive. No one can be ruled out.
But to be honest, I don't really give a damn who said it. It was said, it's disgusting, and it's doubtful that only one anonymous studio big shot wants to see that outcome.
