Hasbro Celebrates Avengers 60th Anniversary! Part 1 of 7

She boosted him up, but the best thing is, if it doesn't make it, first appearance Wasp is still coming, not locked behind some overpriced unwanted firewall.

They once again read fans wrong and learned little from the EOV greed grab. It wasn't that fans didn't want ANY tiers, it was that the EOV itself was way overpriced and had the wrong central character.

Adding just one figure to this Giant-Man would have been the way to go, but they would have jacked the price up to $250.00 or something ridiculous like that.  Just not worth it. Since they didn't take Giant-Man down to $150.00, I'm glad they put the Wasp as a separate figure...that just happens to complement this particular haslab.

To further that, I'll repeat from last month:

  1. Yellowjacket (preferably goggles vs individual lenses), pinless Vulcan buck
  2. Giant-Man (companion to giant version)
  3. Wasp (original outfit, pointy "cone" headdress, shiny metal headset and reducing gas belt). As a bonus, an Ant-Man head...but with removable helmet On the way!
  4. Whirlwind (classic look). Can't reasonably leave this guy out. Chauffer, stalker, mutant, and one of their earliest and deadliest foes.
  5. Equinox, translucent or semi, way past time we got a decent Legends of this guy
  6. Graviton (original outfit), long overdue.

The Marvel Legends HasLab Giant-Man campaign from Hasbro has just over 16 hours to go before it ends and it is still over 2k backers short of the minimum 10k backers funding goal needed in order to move into production. As I type this the campaign has 7,726 backers which means it still needs 2274 more.

While the campaign has picked up the pace over the last several days it has not come close to getting 1k new backers in a 24 period, let alone over 2k backers.

For those starting to panic however, all hope is not lost. Hasbro's G.I. Joe Skystriker Haslab campaign back in 2021 also had a similar uphill battle in it's final day needing over 2k backers. It needed a minimum of 10k backers as well and ended the day with a total of 16,800 backers which even allowed it to unlock 2 of it's 3 stretch goals.

My feeling is the Skystriker ended up having a bunch of overseas backers added to the campaign at the very end and I think the best hope for Giant Man is if Hasbro has not yet added those overseas backers.

Whether this campaign funds or not is to hard to tell at this point but we will know for sure in the next 16 hours.

I backed it the other day when they announced Wasp (yes, I'm Hasbro's prime target). If it doesn't go through I'm not going to lose sleep over it but if it does, then I'll have one.

Still waiting so if they add international backers and that puts it over.

I wish they would change how they add International sales. Here we might have hit 10000 days or weeks ago and we, the people that need to know, don't know. All the videos about why it failed, that are eroding confidence in people on the fence wouldn't be there. They should put them in every Monday morning, or something. I have no idea if this is impossible logistically for whatever reason, but it seems easy enough.

Yes it's never really clear just how much the internationals really add but I'm really hoping they bring about 2K to the fight. It's probably a good thing because if people are depending on internationals they may get some false sense of security. I honestly think we will top at least 8K by the end of the day and then expect that they will bring at least 2K. I do see a lot of support for it on several social medias. Also it's really hard to think that Hasbro has actually done an actual proto if they weren't fairly confident this thing would be a go. Maybe they had some inside analysis numbers and trends that this thing would indeed be a go. And who says they couldn't use this model in the future for other figures. I would pay $200 for a similarly sized Yellowjacket or Bill Foster.

Why wouldn’t a foreign backer be added to the total right away?

because they are not part of the Pulse sites but from other retailers. They need to get the number in total before adding it to the total.

that being said, I can see them extending it for another week since we are so close.

If only the goal was 8 or at least 9 k, but then it would very likely cost much more, unless they could somehow cut costs like giving it only one head, no eye articulation and non articulated hands.

From what I've been seeing online I think the large majority of people could care less about the additional face-plates or the whole eye thing. Sure there are some fans and a little extra is always good to have but the general consensus kind of just feel the money could had been better spent. Or the cost could have been lowered a bit. But it seems to me anything under $200 wouldn't be worth the hassle of a Haslab so I would expect that there would have to be some kind of tiers to keep people from complaining too much.

I will be honest smiling face plate is horrible and creepy and does nothing if not outright discourage buying, if  buyer is on the fence having off putting face like this is not a good strategy, I might be reaching but there could be psychological reasons for it thanks to that uncanny valley creepy smiling face acting as instant "NO".

We arent talking any of the Pulse Websites, but hasbro works with outside vendors in some regions where Pulse isnt available and those wouldn't likely be able to update their sales numbers in real time.

I would be surprised if they extended it. The only time they extended one of these was with Unicron and from what I understand thats because they were late getting some of their partners in place for some of those international regions. Transformers I also think is much more popular in those overseas regions which is why they wanted to give them ample time to buy in.

Unicron was extended due to fan backlash due to the very short time period of (about a month and a half) for something that needed $575 to back. A lot of fans couldn't raise the money in time to back it, so Hasbro doubled the time needed.

Does anyone remember how Rancor's final day was? Was is getting new backer every minute like Giant man is now? Or it lost backers like Ghost rider and then got addition of overseas orders? Because it was only around 500 buckers shy from funding.

Rancor was doing very well in its final day, but it had been too far behind for it to be enough in the end.

I do. And no it was not similar. It was more like the EoV debacle. They found out and realized quite quickly that it was dead and just had to follow it through. It was a bloodbath and it had less to do with price and tiers rather than how terrible the thing looked. It was worse than the original. And it looked to have less articulation though we never found that to be true or not. It did get a bit of a bump at the end but that was most likely from the typical last minute crowd that waits till the end no matter what.

I can almost pinpoint when they realized the EoV campaign was dead. It was right before they revealed Mephisto and Goblin Queen as tiers. The team was getting confronted at every event and they were getting frustrated and belligerent with the fans and influencers. They were walking away from interviews and refusing to answer questions. Keep in mind guys like Dwight and Dan and Ryan and the others had nothing to do with the cost of the project or what it included. They are here to push a product and build up interest. And even they had nothing. But they were getting beat up pretty good and in turn really showed a lot of frustrations in public. Supposedly they were catching a lot of hate and threats on social media but I don't buy it because I belong to them all. But that's beyond the point. I've seen no such things going on this time around. They've maintained their confident outlook throughout. And like I've said. It's almost like they had some inside knowledge or projections that this thing would fund. If it doesn't I would be really surprised.

Arrrg! I was just starting to feel pretty good. Now you've put the doubt back front and center! Lol.

I still believe that this is going to fund, and probably by more easily than is apparent right now. It's at 8,242 with 9 hours to go as I'm typing this. However, IF it doesn't then I think the right move for Hasbro and the Brand team would be to take a year off from Legends HasLabs. Let people miss it for a year. They could always do a role play item or something instead (and I have zero interest in anything like that, personally). Let people be shocked when they don't announce one next year and maybe people will be more open to it the following year when they do announce one again. I think that would be my strategy. Maybe not even a whole year off, but announce it in early 2025 instead of the fall of 2024... let people think that they're done for awhile.

I've backed 1 Giant-Man as of right now, and might still do another one or maybe even two - but leaning towards just the one at the moment.

I thought about that too but I really dont need more than one. If they had a lot more Skrull related stuff or maybe some more Zombievesrse stuff id might have been incluned to get an extra for another display. I wish they'd have figured out some way to make this figure easily convertible to Yellowjacket or Bill Foster. I don't know how they would have done it without a bunch of removable color plates but I'm assuming that would have sent the price much higher.

The EoV lost all hope when it missed the early bird goal. Thats when the counter started going down and not up. I dont think it ever went up significantly after that. Showing all the stretch goals at NYCC was a last ditch effort to try and save it which failed.

Ive been tracking it on an hourly basis since this morning. Up until 12pm it was doing under 100. at between 1pm and 2pm it had its biggest jump of 216 backers but since its been avg around 100 an hour. With 7hrs left it needs 1693. That translates to 242 backers an hour for the remaining 7hrs.
