I will be there for the event so I'll let you all know if there is anything new at the convention.

Now the bigger question......Which British character will they reveal?

Posted

Usually the reveals for ML are one or two items. Maybe they'll show one of the fan poll winners here. Or maybe some more Giant Man related product.

Wow new Ghostbusters stuff, I was certain they had pretty much given up on that. Still interesting that there will be more reveals a day after having reveals.

Whole not a British character maybe they can finally reveal a new Rachel Grey/Summers figure

Always hoping they’ll bust out with the OG at this con.

No doubt. It'll be Psylocke Captain Britain. Guaranteed!

Any Brits from The Invaders left? Is Spitfire British?

Kelsey Leigh Lionheart?

Well maybe it will be Rachel Summers Phoenix to complete Britain's Greatest Team: Excalibur!

Spitfire is British, Lionheart wouldn't be a bad idea or maybe have a British villain with Baron Blood.

My very bad images of what's on display at mcm London. Nothing new yet but you do get a better look at the void wave. Plus hank is relaxing after Monday.

It's funny that they aren't showing off the Skrull head.... Figured they would want to show it off and take a pop shot at the fact that backing didn't go as they planned... So after this made it to funded status my ADHD brain has a question, and yes I know how backing a funded project works but this just keeps getting to me because it's different than others because figures were not offered .. Weren't all the face sculpts figured into the cost of the Haslab  and so if I/we were to buy this in stores then everything would be in the box..right, so by this not reaching what ever total backing level we aren't getting everything...so isn't this kinda a rip off just because 14000 people didn't want it the  thousands that did and paid for it are not getting everything they paid for...the figures that are sold in stores everything that comes with it is figured in to the cost so why is this any different... I/we paid $200+ for everything that  we saw that came with Giant man and we're not getting a complete figure...Feels kinda like a rip off....But that's how backing a funded project works..you don't always get everything that shown that comes with it ..even though it's all ready figured into the cost.,,, Is it to late get my money back???

Eh, this has gone back and forth over and over. Everyone from the casual shopper to people who've had experience in marketing have chimed in but I think the general verdict is yes the price was already worked into the production costs but the more units that go into production the less each unit cost to produce so the add-ons do end up costing Hasbro less to produce the more backers they get. The general thought is if Hasbro just caves at this point it will send a message to the community that if we just get close enough we get the prizes and it might start that trend for future Haslabs. Its not my field of expertise but it's generally the case when I order product for my studio.

Or they're just holding out and want to announce that they did include the Skrull head at the 1027 event. To massive applause.

People keep saying this, and it just isn't true. The whole idea behind Haslab is that it allows them to make niche products that they don't think would have widespread mainstream support, without having to take any major risks. Any time Hasbro makes a toy, one of the biggest expenses is the molds necessary for any new parts. These are major expenses, but they're also fixed costs, irrespective of units produced. If they produce 100 figures or 100,000 the cost of that mold stays the same, but it obviously breaks down differently on a per-figure basis. A $10,000 mold costs $100/figure if they only produce 100, but only $0.10 per figure if they produce 100,000. For huge projects like those featured on Haslab, the material costs are already going to be significant enough per figure that there's a finite number of units they can reasonably expect to sell, so they can't just order up 100,000 of everything and assume that the lowered per-figure cost of the mold will make the figure profitable by itself. So, when they say they need to sell 10,000 units to move into production, they mean 10,000 units is the minimum threshold necessary to give them a sufficient profit margin to make the base figure worth producing. If they have stretch goals at 12,000 and 14,000 units, then they have done the math and they know that the additional molds necessary to include those extra parts will pay for themselves at those respective sales levels, but not before. Those extra face-plates/heads/whatever aren't "figured into the cost" because the cost varies wildly based on the number of units sold.

There's perhaps more to be said about what constitutes a "sufficient profit margin", but usually business calculations to that end are comparative. Are there other similar things they could be investing money into that would yield more return? If so, they'll do those instead. My shop sells a lot of Magic: the Gathering, and anytime there's a fancy expensive set, people grumble about the price of boxes, and say things like "$50 should be enough profit", to which I have to respond "it is... on a product that I'm selling for $100, but the profit has to scale with the cost." Why would I pay $300 to buy a product that I can only sell for $350 if I can pay $50 for a product that I can sell for $100? They both generate the same profit, but one was a much lower investment. In other words, if I spend $300 to buy six of the $50 product, I'll have made $300 profit for the same investment as the more expensive product that only yielded $50. It's always going to be a better use of my dollars to buy the cheaper product. That's how Hasbro determines their prices.

Tombstone looks great, i know people have wanted him in his suit and they even did the pin strips nice! I like the overall look of Hallows' Eve, but knew nothing of her after reading up real fast...pretty cool character. She gets different powers from the different mask she wears.

I'm so unbelievably happy with this wave. Two more long-awaited Spider suits for the shelf, two much needed updates to existing figures, one classic version of a character and one modern character that I've wanted ever since I first saw her. I don't care what else Hasbro does next year, they just made my 2024. Even just suited Tombstone and Hallow's Eve alone would have made me happy.

Oh Yes Awesome Hallow's Eve! super glad to see that, that's a get, been asking for her, Assassin Spider-Man...kinda meh, that's a maybe, Tombstone is a pass, I know tons of people really wanted this outfit for him, I prefer the previous version to this so I'll stick with that. This is a pretty cool wave though, half of this wave is 100% must get, Ben, Jack & Hallow, maybe Assassin Spidey, pass on the other two.
