Hasbro has released some official images for the new Marvel Legends Spider-Man Retro Cardback figures they announced earlier today at the MCM London Convention. Specifically we have the new Hallows' Eve, Assassin Spider-Man and Tombstone figures which will be available for pre-order starting on 10/30 at 1pm ET at places like our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth. They will also be up on Amazon.

When you really think about it, wouldn't it have just been really cool on Hasbro's part to release Hallow's Eve & Jack O'Lantern in a 2 pack for Halloween release?, missed opportunity, should have been on shelves this week. Ah well.

Now I rest. But that being said I had a great time taking pictures of these. All look great when you see them physically.

Tombstone, Jack, Eve and scarlet spider are instant buys. Last stand spidey will be my ezekiel sims for my shelf like I said before since we will never get his 616 version. I like the assassin spiderman and have been asking for him for years. Alex Ross design for the first spiderman movie looks good in figure form.

Aesthetically Tombstone is perfect. My biggest concern is his size. I hope it's right. It's clearly a new model. He fills up the blister and the blister in noticeably larger than the others but when they don't give any comparison images its always concerning. This is the only version of Tombstone we need. If tge size is accurate. To the storage shed with the old Hyperion body Toomie.

Even though we were not for sure no one was surprised with Hallows Eve. She is nothing if not Halloweeny. Best thing about her. No Kate legs. Already a win. Don't know anything about Assasin Spidey but he looks cool enough. Not enough that I need him now but maybe.

Question: Does Hallows Eve qualify as the Never Done Before figure in the fan poll?

That was red widow.

Jack and Tombstone are the must gets for me. I hate the character but I might pick up Hallow's Eve since it does look like a good figure and I have Chasm

Ok, my thoughts on the full wave not that all 6 have been revealed:

Hallow's Eve: Definitely my favorite of the bunch. She's honestly the only "must have" for me, although I expect to buy the whole wave. I do wish that she came with more than the just the 2 masks though. Her power set is based almost completely on her masks and each mask gives her different abilities.  It looks like they gave her a vampire and a devil mask. I don't really remember the devil mask. I remember the vampire one. I also remember Frankenstein, Witch, Werewolf, Ghost, Mummy and Black Cat among some others. I realize they can't give us them all, but 4 would have been nice. I think this is one time that I would have sacrificed one of the sets of extra hands for one more mask. This figure is the star of the lot for me.

Jack O'Lantern: I already have the Absorbing Man BAF version and the Toy Biz Spider-Man Classics version (Mad Jack), but this is better than either of those. I love the scales on the vest, the hover disk, the bombs on the belt, the whole thing. I'll likely keep all 3 figures in my Spidey villains display since they're all representations of different characters who were Jack at different times.

Tombstone: Although I was always fine with the original release, everybody has long wanted him in the suit. The Tombstone figure itself looks great and will definitely replace the old version on my shelf. However I'm very disappointed that they gave him the "Talos" treatment with the whole neck having to be swapped out. Like with Talos this reduces the kitbash possibilities for this big suited figure of which I otherwise might have bought multiples. It's likely that they'll be doing more of these full neck swaps in the future, so maybe it will open up more kitbashing opportunities in the future - but right now I just find it annoying. Dwight seems to be giddy over being able to do this.

Assassin Spider-Man and Last Stand Spider-Man: I'm going to group these both together because I feel the same way about both. They're both very nice looking figures representing multiverse versions of Peter. I'll likely buy both and put them on the Spider-verse shelf but I don't find myself particularly excited about either.

Ben Scarlet Spider: This is a clear upgrade over the prior version, which I still have on card - but is the one that I'm least excited about. It's a fantastic figure - don't get me wrong! I just feel like I've bought this costume too many times already and it's no longer my preferred costume to display for Ben.

This is a good start to 2024 reveals (because I think that it's likely that the Void BAF wave hits before the end of the year - especially at BBTS who seems to get everything early)! I'm very excited for Hallow's Eve, especially! I thought that there might be some outside possibility they would give us a tease of first appearance Psylocke that is rumored to be coming in a Wolverine anniversary 2-pack, but I'm happy with what they've revealed over the past 24 hours.

Now that my initial excitement is over, I'll address these more logically.

Jack is everything I wanted him to be, so glad they included the disk even on a retro card. Now if only Hasbro would sell those 3 prong ball stands on their own...

Hallow's Eve has been on my wishlist since I first saw her on one of the past Spider-Man covers so I'm thrilled to see her, she looks amazing. Maybe she could have come with a staff that the masks could attach to like on that cover but it's not a huge deal.

Scarlet Spider looks absolutely perfect as well. An unmasked head would have been nice but I;d have never used it so I don't really care.

Tombstone is also fantastic. I've wanted suited Tombstone for as long as I've been actively collecting and just based on how he looks on the card, he's about as tall as Omega Red/Venom which is nice.

Assassin Spidey and Last Stand Spidey have been on my wishlist for a while too. Assassin looks great but I'm scratching my head at the decision to make Last Stand Spidey's outfit an overlay. They've literally done similar outfits with ab crunches before. It doesn't affect me too much since I display my Spider-Verse in museum poses to save on space.

Very thrilled overall with this wave though, it's checked off a few boxes for me. There's definitely still a lot of Spider-Man figures I'm waiting on, but this is a very strong wave. Looking forward to the next one in 2026 lol. Fingers crossed for Grey Goblin, Toxin, Future Foundation Spidey, Will O' The Wisp, Carrion and Spyder-Knight in the next one.

Definitely agree with Reno about the need for more masks with Hallows Eve. She looks really good, but I am really gonna miss the Frankenstien mask. I feel like I've seen her use that one the most. Tombstone is an absolute must for me. The earlier one is ok,but I was never thrilled with it. This look is not only more what I want, but I may have to get two for a big guy Inner Demon. Or they can use that body for one or several larger suited characters. Mayor Cage? The spideys all look good, but none are super important to me. They will be the ones that go up in value though, so i gotta make up my mind now. Seems like mainly spideys and Hulks go up in price anymore.

It would have been nice to have maybe at least gotten the witch mask to recreate this cover pose. Nice that they gave her the open hand for this pose as well. I'll have to source a staff and a pumpkin for her on the shelf. I'm actually really glad they went for flat feet on the figure though. Heels are always a nightmare to work with.asm2022014_hallows_eve-resized.thumb.jpg.a40bde8f5ccdb710b519d700383186c9.jpg

I love how well they sculpted Tombstone, they totally nailed that look for him, which is kind of surprising from Hasbro,  I wonder who they can reuse this new body for. As for others, Hollow Eve's is well done, however, maybe if she had hair coming from the hood just like on the cover she would be more visually interesting. Assassin Spidey looks sharp but what the hell is wrong with his legs being so wide apart? because it isn't the case with RYV/DD/DP buck.

I’m kinda glad that wasn’t the case. Not fan of those instances where they pack a classic with a modern.

Hmm. Good question about Assasin Spidey. It does look strange compared to the others. It's inconsequential to me because I won't be getting it either way but it's still weird. As far as Tombstone. The more I look at it I'm coming to the realization he's not going to be quite as big as they are making him seem. He fills up the blister but the blister is not actually any bigger than the other figures as I originally thought. So if he's taller it won't be by much. Just look at that picture with the awkward posed ASM. If you were to stand him up Tombstone would barely edge him out. Technically he should be at least as tall as Thor. I'm starting to think this is no more than the Happy Hogun model with a new jacket overlay. Looks wise it's spot on but size looks like it will still be too small for TS. I hope I'm wrong but i dont think I am. Hopefully someone does a comparison soon. It's a shame because it's beautiful.

I think this wave might be tje fiest wave that is entirely pinless.

And hopefully not the last.

I am a bit concerned that this is the 4th Spidey wave in a row with no BAF

I've been told by several retailers, and read as much online, that anything  ...ANYTHING....."Spider-Man" in action figures seems to sell well,  So Hasbro might be thinking they don't need to offer a BAF item to sell-through a Spidey-wave.

That's true, still there are quite a few Spidey characters that probably wouldn't work as a Deluxe and maybe only work as a BAF

I'm not sure there's anything at this point that can't be a deluxe lol.

Oh that's true but I'm not sure Black Tarantula or F.A.C.A.D.E would sell as Deluxes

Fair point. Does Black Tarantula need to be a deluxe though? I've always thought of him as a normal dude.

On the whole though, I think last year was the outlier as far as Spider-Man waves go. This most recent wave is very reminiscent of the retro waves from 2020 and 2022, so it was cool to see it return in 2024. I kinda get why the ATSV and NWH waves were retro, they were a lot of new sculpts, but there was absolutely no reason why that comic wave had to be. I assume the BTSV wave will be retro but I really hope after that we can get back to BAFs again.

I'm pretty pleased that Hallows' Eve got a figure just out of principle. She's got a really good design, and I'm always happy when Hasbro is quick to make new figures for newer comic content.

That sounds about right because I've heard (and don't quote me, because I don't have a definitive source) that since the 1970s, Spider-Man has been the most popular superhero action figure, followed closely by the Batman and then Superman. Now he isn't my favorite, but I can see why retailers would say what TheArrow stated.

I would like to see The Vulture re-done, and a Romita-style Rhino. I'm only briefly aware of Hallows Eve but interesting to see she already has an action figure. Looks good so far.
