Fair point. Does Black Tarantula need to be a deluxe though? I've always thought of him as a normal dude.

On the whole though, I think last year was the outlier as far as Spider-Man waves go. This most recent wave is very reminiscent of the retro waves from 2020 and 2022, so it was cool to see it return in 2024. I kinda get why the ATSV and NWH waves were retro, they were a lot of new sculpts, but there was absolutely no reason why that comic wave had to be. I assume the BTSV wave will be retro but I really hope after that we can get back to BAFs again.

He's 7 foot making him roughly the size of the Hulk who could hold a woman's head in one hand, so yeah he would need to be a Deluxe.

Still while I like the Retro waves, I don't like the new "retro" packaging idea. Keep the  newer figures as BAF waves and leave the Retro packaging for figures say before 2000

I'm pretty pleased that Hallows' Eve got a figure just out of principle. She's got a really good design, and I'm always happy when Hasbro is quick to make new figures for newer comic content.

Also we got Chasm, so making his girlfriend would make a lot of sense

Yeah, but AOA Sabertooth was also roughly that size and he was released normally, as was Colossus. I think that mold would actually work decently well for BT.

And I agree on the retro cards. The fact that they introduced a new "retro" card for characters from after the 90's lends credence to the theory that they determined Spider-Man will sell regardless and thus will no longer have BAFs.

The spidey waves clearly do sell very well, still it is strange not to include BAFs

According to Rektangular there is another Spider-Man BAF wave expected in 2024 in addition to this retro card wave.

Yeah, the gist I was told was that, for kids AND adult collectors, Spider-Man is like tops. Wolverine ( in costume) and Batman are tied for second, but it's distant from Spidey.  The thing is, it's apparently the default Spider-Man, the strictly classic comic-book costume design we've seen a million times before that people cannot get enough of.

I'm starting to think this is no more than the Happy Hogun model with a new jacket overlay.

I was thinking the same but after closer inspection it's apparent that new Tombstone has much more muscular legs with more skin tight suit, arms and shoulders are also different. I assume height wise it will be around half a head taller than Hammerhead.

as someone who has seen the figure. it's a whole new sculpt.

Nice comparison. I thought the model was new but what made me think Happy mold was how short and straight his legs look in the carded blister picture. They look much different from the unboxed image. Didn't know if one or the other was a render or mock up but they are clearly not the same. I'd say the carded image might be a mock up using using a previous photo of another figure. But if the figure looks like the promo image it will be fantastic. I'll just post a comparison for you to see. Is it just me or do they look completely diffetent? Just look at the size of the heads first and then the lengths of the legs. I'm hoping it's just a case of crappy photoshop working using a picture of an older body model. Like I said it looks amazing and I remain hopefully positive but this gives me pause.20231030_213805.thumb.jpg.e7793bd191a531596d21ef1957972d91.jpg

Tombstone is definitely not on the Hammerhead/Happy mold. The folds in the legs are different first of all, but you can also tell by the packaged pictures that it's a much bigger mold. It seems like it's roughly the same height as the Omega Red mold.IMG_1213.thumb.jpg.ee9ed93a74c372d4f3a78db1942416c8.jpgIMG_3143.thumb.jpg.105162b6f2b34e754a57095e769077d5.jpgIMG_3160(1).thumb.jpg.b909f29709962d897d9aa196e37b0cc9.jpg

I'm crossing my fingers pal. That would be appropriate. I also see some people wondering what other characters can be done with this mold. It's hard but I think they could do a Sabretooth and maybe Tomi Shishido Gorgon. But I actually think the investment was more with the legs and as the torso is pretty much covered they can do other things with it. But as it stands we a several tiny suited models, one moderate sized suited model and now a Large to XL suited model. And actually any one of those sets of legs can be painted to be jeans or slacks or formal. Not perfect by a far shot but it's a lot better than the one option we had for a very long time. I could actually see them coloring the pants dark blue and the shoes brown and putting a muscular torso with a yellow shirt and do Luke Cage.

Oh Yes Awesome Hallow's Eve! super glad to see that, that's a get, been asking for her, Assassin Spider-Man...kinda meh, that's a maybe, Tombstone is a pass, I know tons of people really wanted this outfit for him, I prefer the previous version to this so I'll stick with that. This is a pretty cool wave though, half of this wave is 100% must get, Ben, Jack & Hallow, maybe Assassin Spidey, pass on the other two.

We might get even more suited bodies if the rumored Joe Fix it and Patch 2 pack comes true.

Spitfire is British, Lionheart wouldn't be a bad idea or maybe have a British villain with Baron Blood.

I'd be all for it as a pathway to open up for true Golden Age characters like fa Cap, Miss America, Blazing Skull, Destroyer...while they're at it they could throw in Baron Blood, U-Man...hasbo had a great window to these types back during the "80 years" kickoff thing. Now, I can't see it happening (but then there is Crystar so.....) without linking it to something like this. Would be great!

It sure would. Maybe something in 2025 for their 50 year anniversary of vol 1? 🙏

They could throw some of the them like the Whizzer and The Destroyer into the Spidey Retro Line, since they appeared in the show

Right! LOL Whizzer makes me think of Miss America and then I think "why not Red Raven" and then I'm down the rabbit hole. But the Brits, Union Jack and Spitfire, not really a bridge too far, do you think? I've always hoped for a Golden Age line up but now, I just don't think the team is broad minded enough to do any of them, UNLESS they're tied to some current media project. Its sad, but there it is. I would love to be wrong. And then there IS that Crystar, so....?

I get it. Doing the Six Forgotten warriors (well except another Cap) might be a good way to start. It was my introduction to the Golden Age heroes.

I really wish they'd use the Rose body more. Granted, it's a pretty new body, so hopefully it rolls out more and eventually fully replaces Coulson. Fury is better but still has a lot of the problems that Coulson has. The Inner Demon figure is probably more in line with modern Legends sizes, hopefully we see that one updated eventually and used more, I think it's only been used twice so far.

I'd want them to go back and re-do the classic 70s version CORRECTLY this time....anything to get rid of the Luke Cage, Armpit for Hire nonsense. After that, then they can move on to more modern takes. Its good to see they're doing a better "civilian" model, though.

You get what I'm saying. People might get tired of hearing it but I am just disgusted at how bad they botched that figure. And when you compare it to figures like War Machine or Spiral, both that are WAY more complicated, you can only conclude there was no excuse for that. I do think they'll hit it again, because a lot of fans want it in the blue /dark blue leggings. Hopefully they'll ditch this silly torso thing, give it a real ab crunch, put it on a larger mold, of course do the boot rotation, and maybe change the expression a bit next time around.
