It's definitely not from the Animated Series. This is a comic book figure. I can't remember where but this design was used the some version of the comics. Absolute Carnage?

Also they only used the Animated Spider-man as a product shot.

This is actually the size and height that the Anti-Venom figure should have been. Not that simple repaint of the Venom on the terrible Hyperion mold. Of course I know this model was not available at the time when they did AV but since we're going back and redoing and doing multiple versions of almost every character now how about we revisit that monstrosity? Plus I know Carnage can alter his size but typically he's not shown to be extra tall. That only became a thing after the Let There Be Carnage Movie. Yes the best Carnage figure to date but as is usual with Hasbro they always seem to get a major detail wrong. Again somehow MS beat ML to the punch and got it right first. And that's just sad.

Not entirely sure this is what you're saying but I've always pictured Anti-Venom as Venom size, not Carnage size. I'd rather get him on the Omega Red or even Hercules buck, though ideally a new mold with all the texture would be nice. I do want a redo though, I hate the Hyperion mold like most people do.

Of course every artist has their own interpretation but originally he was portrayed a bit taller than Venom. A very broad chest but very thin around the waist and hips and longer and thinner arms and legs. Almost like the design was meant to resemble the Rake monster. Of course Symbiotes constantly change size and mass all the time but I think the original design worked the best.

I think Anti-Venom's lankier design in his early appearances was mostly a byproduct of the way JRjr draws original taste Venom rather than a conscious attempt at making him like that.

Yeah I got that too. As I was looking for art I found that most of the time that lankier design was drawn by RDJ. And lanky was the word I was searching for when I was trying to describe it earlier. LOL, glad you found it. There's that but even taking that into consideration he is portrayed as a little more complex than just an inverted Venom with longer claws. Mostly the figure they did years ago just looks cheesy and lazy and would probably look a lot better had they done it today. I mean Hasbro has been kicking buns with their comic product and actually putting some real investment into sculpts and molds. I suspect though that once the whole MCU gets back on track all that stuff will again start to absorb most of the budget and the comic stuff will become just a byproduct again.

I'm still confused about this figure, but I feel like we have no explanation, so this is a taller carnage on the Knull body? right?, because it just doesn't look like it's any different in terms of build then the Venompool wave, either way even if this is a bigger Carnage, I have officially dropped my gavel and said I'm passing, enough Carnages for me, I'm content, and if a bigger carnage was something I wanted, well I got the oversized Select, that's fine, I also for once really am not pleased with the head sculpt here, it's pretty hard for me to not be really lusting after Symbiotes but this one feels meh...bad face, and passing this off as "classic" seems like a rude thing since this here is no classic Carnage, that's not a classic face, if indeed this is the Knull buck, well Carnage is traditionally not Tall, so not classic, he's one of the smaller Symbiotes, sorry Hasbro this isn't it.

This Carnage is on the same body as the Venompool wave Carnage.

That makes more sense. I'm not sure where but I know many of us saw something that said it was on the Knull model. Which made no sense. Not sure if the ML team said it or if it was an observation made by someone else.

Okay, well that is what I thought, it did not appear that this was using the Knull buck, or parts, just the Venompool wave figure again. I just needed more confirmation.

@AndyL Dwight probably didn’t remember which wave this body was used in so he said we last saw it around the time of Knull.

Ouch Okay so that's where the whole confusion started.

Nice looking Carnage, definitely another one that I'll be picking up. I've been holding onto the previous version for some time. I think it's the one that came with the Monster Venom wave. This one might just take it's place. The head sculpt in particular is really doing it for me!

Not a big fan of the mouth, but the rest of the figure is just so creepy, I love it!

If I didn't still have the one from the Ultimate Goblin wave, I'd totally pick this up!

I was just trying to put my finger on why I didn't like this figure. The mouth IS very strange. I really don't see this as an improvement over the Venompool wave one and the head from the Goblin wave fits just fine. Maybe a few fancy attachments but I've had a guy printing me stuff like that for years. I just don't think they'll ever be able to do a proper Carnage. The design is just to intricate to put into plastic but as far as what's available I don't see any reason to get this. I could be wrong once it is in hand but for now I think I'm good.

It’s the white teeth, which Carnage shouldn’t have. At least not in my experience. Maybe he has them in modern appearances. I stopped reading comics a few years ago. The all-over sculpted texture and the weapons make him near perfect. Just a bit of black paint on the teeth and swapping some non-toed feet and he’s done.

I really like the idea of having this figure on the retro card, but will likely pass unless I find it in store at some sort of clearance markdown. I've been rolling with the version from the Monster Venom wave and will likely continue to do so.

This figure is such an enigma to me. A modern style Carnage packaged on a card with a picture of classic Carnage on it and then posed with animated Spider-Man in the promotional shots. Imo it should have either been a classic version of Carnage on that card or the modern figure on one of their new modern cards.

Since they were going for retro I would love for them to do classic Mark Bagley style Carnage face just like the Mafex did or at the very least include basic head from previous release.

Agreed here, that would have been Ideal for a retro release, but this figure isn't it, that is one of my least favourite Carnage faces I've seen in Legends and not "Classic" at all.

and all of that is fine for me since I already have so many Carnages it's just money saved.
