I realize I'm in super minority and no one will agree with me, but as someone who grew up on Iron Man animated series I would have preferred more "revealing" Whiplash and I know version they made is comic book accurate but it still feels wrong to me and it's technically animated line.

No. It's not an animated line. They are only using the card to sell COMIC figures.

I'm actually REALLY annoyed, here. This should have been a Force Works wave. I guess I'm never getting my Century figure, because this was the ONLY way it was ever going to happen.

First two figures of the line were ANIMATED, it's obvious they gonna have comic book figures too that why I said it's technically animated because it started as such same way Spidey line is *technically* animated that mixes both animated and comics figures.

If you mean the Iron Man and War Machine figure, first War Machine was all comic. Iron Man was comic, MVC (because of the cannon) AND animated and that was only because of one head. These aren't animated. They are comic.

Retro War Machine with white instead of silver was animated deco, So was the Iron man with MVC canon, they already did comic book versions of these before. If you wanna argue they are somehow all comics fine but that won't change that these were intended as animated inspired decos.

My fears about She-Hulks face sculpt have been abated. It's clear from the official pics it is actually very stunning. The funny thing is they gave her colors very reminiscent of the way she looked during the Byrne run of the comics but the sculpt itself does not resemble the Byrne art much. Whatever, it's going to be amazing and it is a great correction to the T-Rex arms version that came with the A-Force set years ago. Can an update Red She-Hulk be somewhere in the works?

It's seems something made a goof with the Iron Man mark 20. It's seem to be more based on the Secretary of Defense / mark 24/5 suit. @ADour can you confirm this?

You're right on the money. This figure is definitely the Model 24. The Model 20 is sleeker, whereas the Model 24 has more plating and bulk. The fins are also a trademark of the Model 20, and so is that Adi Granov helmet that it shares with the Model 25.

Man, I can't believe I was away from my computer when these reveals dropped.

That Neo-Classic scratches one of my biggest Marvel Legends itches. I'm happy we can finally put the old version to rest. I love that they went with the big boots. Not sure how I feel about the inaccurate blue unibeam, but it's far from a dealbreaker. Shame about it not being fully pinless, but at least the arms are.

The Golden Armor is an expected but still pleasant announcement. I'm glad they are including the quilt. They should've gone with the 80 Years head, though. This Charles Bronson head is Bronze Age.

That Model 20 is a very interesting offering considering that it's not really the Model 20. That's very much the Model 24. I was worried that Hsbro was never going to tackle it or the Model 25, on account of these two suits being mistaken for the Extremis Armor more often than not. Now I want this suit to be retooled into Iron Patriot. Hopefully some time down the line they also give it a new torso for a Model 25 figure. Hope this doesn't damper the possibilities of a proper Model 20 some time down the line.

Whiplash I'm very happy with. A classic Iron Man foe in all of his silly classic costume glory.

Count Nefaria and She-Hulk I'm impartial about. Nefaria is more of an Avengers-in-general villain, and She-Hulk I don't think fits the theme of the wave at all. She's Tony's friend, but that's that. It's not like they're recurring team-up buddies or anything like Spider-Man and Daredevil, which makes Matt make sense to be in a Spidey wave. Still happy for those that wanted a more classic She-Hulk figure.

Is that "model 20" the same as the one toybiz released in series 8 as modern armor? I dig the design but that old figure was spindly and weird.

The more I look at these figures, the more I'm leaning toward picking them up. I really like the look of these comic villains as well as these Iron Man figures. I know I'm always going on about the limited space of my shelves but something about some new, classic villains just feels too good to pass up!

This wave was what I was asking for, but these are not the figures I was asking for, 3 Iron Men, what a wasted opportunity here, total dookie, I saw this wave and just scoffed, I'm very happy to see a Whiplash (Blacklash), and Count Neferia, but really 3 Iron Men? stop, I was hoping for finally a Mandarin!!!! really? and no Century? Titanium Man? Dreadknight?, Ghost?, Hypnotia? what a dud of a wave... so sad, I have been asking for this retro carded IM wave for so long and it's a straight up stinker, only going to get Blacklash and Neferia, maybe She-Hulk, but really She-Hulk here? ugh such a let down. Hasbro you were doing so good, Give me a Mandarin!!!!!!!!!

I didn;t even come here to post about this wave, since I saw it because I was so heated up about it, it's lame, I was hoping this was where we would get some highly hoped for figures (for me) and it was the place for them, but nooooo.

I mean, realistically, they went with three Iron Men and a fairly relatively known Avenger over characters like Dreadknight, Titanium Man, Hypnitia and Century because those other guys simply aren't particularly well known or characters. Like, MAYBE Ghost on account of the MCU, but there is zero chance they were gonna release a wave that's just a single Iron Man and a bunch of D-list villains.

I do agree that the Mandarin is a glaring omission, but otherwise the lineup here is pretty reasonable imo.

5 out of 6 of these have been such a long wait in my book and they all look good so I'm pretty glad with it. Surely there'll be another wave and maybe also singles released here and there like they do the other retros. I don't know, but there is an exciting roster to work with for these cards. Let's go, Stingray! 🤞🤞

Just simply the fact they still glossed over Mandarin is making me erk, and yeah a bunch of d-listers, whatever not playing that anymore with Hasbro and the legends department, look at the Zabu wave, they know the game they are playing, this was the chance at some highly desired new figures and they dropped it, this is like most non MCU waves a fan channel wave, 2 Iron Men in this wave I can excuse but 3? and a random but great addition in count neferia, She-Hulk here? no I'm gonna stay mad at this wave.

Still no Mandarin is really bugging me.

I was just hoping this was the wave we would see some highly desired additions to the line, it was the right place. but Ugh no

people keep saying that Nefaria shouldn't be in this wave, but he has fought Iron Man plenty of times. Not to mention he is the father of one of Iron Man's greatest foes/loves in Madame Masque. Yes he is an Avengers villain primarily but alot of the time Iron Man is a member of the team when he fights the Avengers.

She-Hulk, in particular I agree with but dear god that figure is so awesome I don't care what packaging she comes in. Now they can use it for a new RedShulk and finally Lyra.

I also agree about the "too many Iron Men" in one wave. But this is par for the course. They do it with every IM and Spidey wave. I keep saying with SM that Peter OR Miles can be the Spidey in the wave instead of 2 or 3 Peters a Spider-Woman, and Miles and one or two villains.

Nefaria works for me. I have been wanting him for a long time and Tarots stated connections are more than enough. As far as Shulkie, she showed up alot in the cartoon so that's probably the connection. But she coulda been in any Avengers or Hulk set, if we ever get a Hulk set.

But yeah, instead of She Hulk and one of the Iron Men I woulda preferred the Melter, Unicorn,Mauler, Titanium Man ect. Still really happy with Whip/Blacklash though.

Kinda feel like they should have waited on the Romita Jr IM suit to come with Fin Fang Foom if he's the Haslab for the Year of the Dragon. Him and Mandarin are no brainers to come with that set. Quintet is maybe a Pym related accessory at this size? I hope they don't do a Haslab jet this year.

I know it doesn't need to be said but this is 100 percent. Too many IM is a thing and too many SM is as well. I love the MK 20 but MK 9 and III are just maybes. I was hoping the next IM wave we got could have included a Crimson Dynamo or at least have been in a standard wave so we could get a BAF of Titanium Man. But instead let's just leave it to be drawn out for another 10 years. Nefaria and Whiplash are more than welcome to me. A Mauler would have been a stupendous and welcome surprise. These all look good and I'm weighing it but this might be the first Retro wave I fully follow through with. We'll see when tomorrow comes.

Just the fact they have a whole wave of retro iron man carded figs should be reassurance we will get all these figures we want. This won't be the last wave of iron man cards and yea she hulk is outta place but we're getting her period, should we of probably gotten a mandarin yea. They will do him for sure they are just doing what they always do making us wait. This retro card also is another way for them to get other comic characters out like nefaria, they do the same thing with the retro spiderman line where they don't always make since but we're like I'll take it anyway. I'm just glad to see another retro card like this I know we're gonna get some good figs outta it. Graviton, unicorn, ghost, melter, blizzard, living laser.....

The fan channel waves do still try to have at least somewhat marketable characters, though, even if they have the ability to include some deeper cuts. The Zabu wave had an A-lister in Iron Man and a B+ lister in Cable (in a highly requested look), plus Wolfsbane, who while by no means an A-lister, is a fan favorite that a lot of people have been asking for to complete X-Factor. The Void wave had Black Panther, Vision and Namor. The Mindless One wave had Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Man.

There's definitely allowances for more obscure characters, but I doubt these sorts of things see the greenlight when the proposed roster is just a bunch of super deep cuts and maybe one recognizable character. It's why a lot of the hypothetical waves that get proposed by the fans with the goal of filling out supporting casts and backstories are likely never gonna happen.

How much of the Neo Classic IM is new? I see pins on the legs so assume those are reuse from the retro one. I just hope that it's larger than the retro because that one was a bit undersized.

I wonder if there will be any "Fan Channel" retro figures to go along with this wave, as there have been with some past retro waves (Dr. Doom and Firelord, etc.)? Mandarin would be a good figure to release via Fan Channel, but would they make a classic comic one, or a green-skinned animation-inspired one?

The one they're calling Model 9? This is a weird one because it looks like a cross or a transition between what is technically listed as the 9 and the 10. The feet are the 10 but the arch reactor is still from the 9. I guess there is some artwork or some story where they are kind of in an in between stage. But yes this looks like the previous version we got in the Retro wave years ago. And yes it looked cool but sadly it was very undersized. I started to think this was little more than a re-release of that but if you look at the side by side in package images next to the Model 20 you will see that even though the heads line up in the blister the feet of the 9/10 are lower than the MK 20. This would lead me to believe he's at least as tall if not taller than the 20. If not then it would be a complete disappointment. But in the end this was never one of my favorite armors anyway and if one of the early reviewers catches it quick enough maybe I can cancel in time.

I agree, they will make more use out of this cardback. I can only hope Graviton (use the Nefaria head scuplt... they really do look THAT similar) Unicorn, Melter, Firebrand, Blizzard, Ghost, Justin Hammer, among others. The only drawback is that we still won't be getting larger figures like Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo with the retro line, they would most likely be BAFs in a regular line. Mandarin where are you?!
