I agree, and would add this kind of attitude or "fear" pertains to action figure producers as well...which is why they stick with the same characters over and over, and why they warp and change costumes and especially female characters. True, not every thing on the comic page translates to the screen or plastic form, but as you say: done ACCURATELY, RESPECTFULLY to the source material... the audience will accept it.

When Kenneth Branagh directed the first Thor, I knew Marvel Studios could go anywhere.  it was wide open--for ANY kind of story.
The Celestial in GotG cemented that.  The fear movie execs had that the audience wouldn't accept grandiose characters like Galactus was never with the audience......it was with the execs themselves, and clearly needlessly so.  Treat the characters with sincerity, with respect.......and the audience will accept them.  It's a no brainer.

Agreed!

And btw, after seeing this movie I was, indeed, ok with it. If you haven't seen the movie yet, this one does actually deal with the characters with sincerity for sure.

Just came back from seeing this movie, And I loved it, it felt very retro, felt vibey, The actors all did the characters quite well, they had a nice amount of development, I liked the story, I liked the pace, as a whole it was a nice movie, didn't feel like anything too high level in the action department, but enough, and the emotional moments were great, I liked the tone of this, it really felt like something totally different then the normal MCU product.

I plan on seeing it 4 times (pun intended), and I am bringing one of my Walgreens-exclusive Marvel Legends with me. So far, I have seen it twice, and I love it. The cast perfectly nails the family dynamic, feeling like an actual family, not just a family by choice. Not one member overshadows the other. The way Galactus is defeated feels like a team effort. The movie delves into the others' hidden depths. Such as Ben piloting the ship. Johnny being less than a womanizer, amongst other non-spoiler moments, and Sue showing her comic counterpart's full potential.

Absolutely loved the movie. As I said in another thread, this felt like a Comic book movie to me. Most other MCU is a what if they lived in our world. I love the moment when Reed Should lie, trying not to spoil here, and Pedro plays it perfect. No hesitation or conflict on his face. He didn't even consider lying. All my doubts about casting and character change were proven wrong. I don't wanna get too excited, but this might be my favorite MCU movie so far.

Honestly I keep feeling like I really want to see it multiple times, after I watched it I kept thinking about it, and that's always a sign of a great movie, when it stays on your mind, I think I'm going to have to double dip on this one at least.

I think the main thing really, was yes they just did the characters so well, it felt realistic and like a real family, also just the whole movies vibes were like I was reading an Issue of FF.

I  saw FF:FS for the first time a couple of weks ago, and while I "liked" it, I have some major criticisms about it.
The thing is, I don't kniw if I can discuss them here because one of them is a considerable spoiler, and not everyone reading will have seen the movie themselves.

Slightly off topic, but I think there should be a tighter reign on the idea of spoilers. Movie has been out for months. It's been rentable/streamable for a few weeks.  A week after it's on D+ is more than enough time to be fair.  But for me, if you don't go see it opening week, spoilers are a fact of life. Not saying like " you're a bad fan" or anything derogatory. I get not having a theater near, or not having the schedule, or just hating theaters, too. I just think that its the risk you take. Especially nowadays, i dont know how you wouldnt know every twist and turn from scrolling YouTube or whatever at this point. But I will reiterate, that I loved this movie and can't wait to watch it over and over on D+. Loved it more the second time I saw it in the theater.

I meant to go see it in theatres, I really did. But somehow I didn't. I'm one of those who haven't seen clips on youtupe either so this will be all new for me. I know I'm behind!  I just saw Superman and still haven't caught up with Peacekeeper....come to think of it, I don't think I ever finished Echo...I've got some catching up to do this weekend!

Just to be clear, I don't WANT to spoil anything for any one. And if we were in the same room having a conversation, and you said you hadn't seen any movie no matter how long ago it came out, I'm gonna try not to ruin anything.  I just mean on forums and Comment sections that at some point it is incumbent on the reader to stop reading and those that have seen it can discuss at will. But yeah, as a fellow old schooler what I enjoyed about FF was not being in our world, but a retro futuristic world that felt closer to Lee and Kirbys world. Should be on D+ within a Month though, probably by Thanksgiving.

Just reported today that NOV 5th, the movie releases on Disney + for all subs to see.
And if no-one objects, on Nov 6th, I'll post my spoiler-ish critiques.

Completely understand, and yes, you'd think I would have seen/heard more at this point but what can I say....life is Lifing. I HAVE seen pictures of their uniforms and found out other people have had the same reaction (to Mr. Fantastic's outfit compared to the other 3) that I had. I'm not ocd or anything but it drives me nuts.....why....why....I MUST know....WHY? Surely there's some awe-inspiring, cosmic reason!! Can't wait to see the movie now.

Regarding spoilers, I hate them. I try to avoid as much as I can, but it’s becoming impossible. Especially with marketing and products. I just try to look away when online comments feel like they are going that direction, or plug my ears and go “lalala!”

I greatly appreciate when someone has the consideration to type a spoiler alert. I try to keep that in mind myself in this era of streaming, when more and more people can and are watching things as it becomes convenient instead of rushing out to see something immediately.

I found it difficult to get back into the MCU after Endgame, and I’ve missed so much that I don’t know where to dive back in and know what’s going on. Especially with all of the shows that were exclusive to Disney+. It’s been so long now, I’m considering the daunting task of starting back at the beginning with Iron Man and watching everything to date.

That’s exactly what I wanted to hear! Along with other comments here, that gives me confidence that I will enjoy this movie. The part about the action particularly stands out to me. I was fatigued by the Endless Epic Destruction trend of so many blockbuster movies over the last decade.

I don't know why but I've been expecting this to be on D+ way before now. I've been opening the app for weeks expecting to watch it again. Nope. Glad it's finally up because I've been looking forward to a rewatch.

It's so good! The shot of Ben's reflection as he looks at a TV of himself before he changed is right out of a Kirby panel!

I've seen the movie in theaters 4 times, the first time I have seen a movie that many times in theaters and I had one of the Walgreens exclusives with me for each screening. I have the movie on Blu-Ray and it is absolutely worth the watch!

I saw it last night and was VERY pleased with it!  It had its cons, but I am mystified why anyone is calling this a "flop". Very well written, excellent acting- Vanessa Kirby is going to be THE template for Susan Storm Richards going forward- and overall it had an exciting, entertaining vibe to it. Why haven't there been more action figures from this! Those space suits were GORGEOUS!!

Yeah, the "it's cool to crap on Marvel movies" crowd is really grasping with this one. My main issue is, why is Hollywood obsessed with having Silver Surfer phase through stuff? Like isn't the character powerful enough? Anyone please correct me if he ever did this in the comics, but I don't remember a single time he/ she did. It's like giving Hela half of Gorrs powers, just totally unnecessary for such an already high powered character.

I can't see movies in theaters anymore because I suffer from hyperacusis. I have to wait until something comes to streaming or whatever so that I can control the volume.
Watched it last night. I liked it. Some of the banter felt a bit more forced than usual for a Marvel movie, and Mark Gatiss's American accent is one of the worst I've ever heard. Otherwise, no real complaints. Lots to like.

Well that's unfortunate, and fair reasons, that's some what a bummer, if you even care, not to be able to enjoy the theatre experience for films, In the end glad you ended up seeing it and liked it.

LoL who was Mark Gatiss in the movie? I'm pulling nothing from my head.
