I admit that I decided to pass on Astonishing Wolvie when he went up for pre-order and now might be having mild regrets as I think he's sold out most places now. I'll get over it, though. The X-Men '97 Wolvie is probably the only Wolverine that I need.

Ahhhh, that Danny Ketch is so fantastic, I' have been asking for Danny for what seems like forever, and it finally happened, the bike is the star of the show though here, they put a great amount of detail into it, Danny himself is great, but I honestly feel like I'm less excited now for him, since we got the "johnny in danny deco" and I got a sweet bike for that one and it's a good looker.

anyways stoked still to finally get a Danny and his bike.

Astonishing Wolverine still does little for me, I actually don't really like the fact sculpt it's off, also not a real astonishing fan, but I guess it's good for people who want this, they now just need to remake the Astonishing catface beast, and that should be the team is done.

No. Colossus and Kitty woare different costumes at the time.

Seems upon actually looking at some of the comics, which I had not in very long time, indeed you are correct, Colossus though is very close to his classic look, but without the shoulder pads, and his boots are less adorned, Kitty seems like she has sort of modded New Mutants uniform on, so I guess the Astonishing X-Men team is kinda not close to finished.

Also my brain was jogged after seeing my AOA comic collection and I had forgotten that there was an Astonishing X-Men team in that time-line, also a team before this one.

Usually a sucker for just about every Wolverine, but this one was bugging me. Did an image search, and now I know why. The yellow on the team's uniforms were all darker, less vibrant yellow. And the blue on Wolvie was much less bright. How does a company have so much lead time and so much source material to work from and then get the colors this obviously wrong?  So weird, because the brighter the colors without any shading, the more it makes a figure look like a Happy Meal toy.

Didn’t realize how much of an improvement the Danny Ketch skull is over the older Johnny Blaze one until seeing them side by side. I’m curious if the retro Johnny Blaze head sculpt was an improvement over the Johnny and motorcycle set.

This is exactly what I ask myself whenever they do something like this. Very well put.

On another note, I notice they didn't have an X-Force Wolverine up there. I was never a big fan of X-Force but I did really like the way the claws fit on that figure, compared to some of the others.

Yes. I kept seeing people posting here and other places that it was the same old Johnny Blaze head sculpt. But it looked different to me. Better. I wasn't sure if it was an all new sculpt or just a different color and shade but looking at these it is clearly a different sculpt. This entire Ketch GR set as a whole looks so much better than the previous Johnny Blaze version. The wheels and flames are so much cooler. It actually makes me wish they would update the Blaze one. But how many of us are up for another $70 for a figure they've already done? This set was a long wait and though I won't say it was well worth the wait I'm glad it turned out so great. I always loved Ketch's bike. This set is beautiful.

And no the Retro was not much of an improvement over the original. To me it looked like pretty much the same thing but with different colors. As a matter of fact the Retro seems to have a little less detail than the one from the Riders set. Then again I could be wrong. I never took the retro out of the package for closer examination but it's not like the blister isn't easy enough to get a good look through.

I mean, I guess he's ok, but is he better (or better enough) than this guy to make me want to upgrade?

Man, I kinda miss variant figures...

LOL. Me too. I remember what a pain it was to chase down that variant Burned Wolverine from the Giant Man wave. But it was actually necessary to finish the BAF. I often wonder how many unfinished Giant Man's are out there simply missing the piece from this figure. I think it was the left boot if I remember correctly. Easy enough to look up. I remember the elation I felt when I finally found the figure. It was one of those times I had to keep looking at it to make sure it was the correct figure and the walk down that aisle seemed like a mile long and any second someone was going to cut me off and snatch it before I got there. Like I said it was a pain but looking back I did enjoy the thrill.  These days it seems if Hasbro would go through the trouble of making a variant they would just as soon just hold it off and put it into another wave as it's own figure.

I've thought about those variants recently and wondered why they don't do those anymore. I guess it makes sense that if there is demand they will just release it later.

Shopping was different in those days.

There was a definite child-like fun to be had in chasing down those variants. Sure you had all those unsuccessful trips to various stores, but it was sooo worth it when you finally stumbled across that one you were desperately looking for. ' I got it, I finally got it!!!' , It is convenient now in the days of pre-orders to get what you want, but that hunt brought a lot of fun to collecting.

This Skaar proves that two different headsculpts work best with Hulk characters. Many times we only get the angry expression and while it's reasonable, the calm headsculpt makes for a great alternative as there is still something menacing about a Hulk just staring you down.

No character should just come with an angry expression. If they have an angry expression they should also have a neutral expression

I have been saying this for years, no figure should be stuck on some yelling head, or tongue out head, or mouth a gape head, and not come with a neutral head, things like Thunderstrike and Gwenpool, and the Caliban wave Beast, *face palm* The Hood, have bugged me to no end. I think obviously every Legend would just benefit from 2 head options, but that's no reasonable of course budget wise, but it's a no no to me to give a character one head and it's got them screaming.
