In the concluding CinemaCon session held by Disney today, the studio presented the latest film starring Anthony Mackie, which continues the storyline following the events of the Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, aired in 2021. Within the series, Sam Wilson assumes the responsibility of wielding the shield previously carried by the departed Steve Rogers (portrayed by Chris Evans).

Quote

In the clip, Harrison Ford’s POTUS wants Sam Wilson to rebuild the Avengers. He’s impressed what the hero did down in Mexico. However, Wilson wonders what happens if they disagree on how to manage the new team. Next scene, Ford is making a presentation to a room full of authorities. However, a couple of people in the crowd become possessed –Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah Bradley and a General– and turn on the crowd, in particular Ford’s character. Ala Air Force One, he’s a touch Potus and punches the military guy in the face.

Julius Onah helmed the film, with the screenplay penned by Malcolm Spellman, known for his work on Falcon and the Winter Soldier, along with Dallan Musson and Matthew Orton.

Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2025.

I really am looking forward to the Mackie led Cap movie. A little bummed the Serpent Society got cut, reportedly, but they probably were gonna be given the "Wreckin Crew" treatment anyway. (Or just a bunch guys in suits)  I do want a proper, fully costumed, Serpent Society eventually though. We were supposed to get them after Winter Soldier.

Entertainment Weekly released two new images from Captain America: Brave New World. In the first one, we see Anthony Mackie rocking the new Captain America look, shield in hand. The second image shows Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross having a chat with Mackie's Sam Wilson, all suited up as Captain America.

Wish they hadn't gone with Harrison Ford. MCU wasting money on big names is just bloating the budgets. Tarantino is actually right about that. Even with RDJ, most people are seeing an IM movie not anRDJ movie. Although he'd be the closest to transcending that. They could have gotten any nber of older character actors to fill the role. And would have grown or worn a damn mustache! How much did he cost? Who's gonna see the movie for him? I don't think they even out at all.

If it's addressed then I'd have to guess it's a big deal.

More of a joke to be honest. Sam apparently mentions he's not used to Ross's new look. Ross replies that he had to lose the moustache or lose the election.

Wow. The simple fact that this counts as tweet worthy or X worthy or whatever is astounding. Two actors standing around with literally nothing remarkable going on besides a shield. Did anyone need to be reminded what Ford and Mackie looked like? Completely indicative of what's become of the MCU at this point.

I must agree with others about Ford as Ross. Seriously they could have gotten a number of actors who looked more the part on the cheap. Maybe they were expecting more of a fanfare with a certain cross section of Star Wars fans but I'm a fan of both and this does little to impress me. Especially after what he agreed to submit to in the last Indiana Jones movie. This is the 2nd MCU movie i know I'll only bother with when it hits Disney+.

I've admittedly ben a bit less than enthusiastic about the MCU in recent years. I'm not necessarily hopping on the hater bandwagon but I just haven't had any recent to get exited about anything. Deadpool and Wolverine and the Fantastic Four have the potential to break that trend for me. I can't say the same about this new Captain America project. I love the cast, love the characters, but feel like something new and fresh is called for. I would love to be proven wrong and be blown out of the water! Here's to hoping!
