While the new Captain America: New World Order movie doesn't open in theaters until February 14, 2025, we have what appears to be our first product reveals in the form of McDonald Happy Meal Toys. The image appears to be a promotional image released overseas that features little mini-figures, two of which are of Sam Wilson as Captain America. The others would be considered SPOILERS so if you want to see them then you can check out the image at least for now over on Reddit. Thanks to Alex for the heads up.

I believe that Ruth is supposed to be Sabra, but they may not use that name in the movie due to some controversy around that character.

I had read a relatively recent report that the Serpent Society were completely removed from the movie as part of the recent re-shoots and edits so seeing any of them in toy form is mildly surprising. Evidently the initial screenings of the film did not do well and the decision was to make a lot of changes -- although I believe that has also been pretty common for most MCU movies in recent history. I know that WWE wrestler Seth Rollins from my home state of Iowa had originally filmed some scenes, but those are all expected to be cut from the final version and supposedly he's no longer expected to appear in the movie. I believe that the same thing happened not too long ago with his real life wife Becky Lynch, who is also a WWE wrestler, where she filmed scenes for a Marvel movie and those weren't used. I can't recall what movie that was supposed to be in, though. (Looked it up, it was Eternals)

Interesting, is Ruth Blindfold? her real name was Ruth right? also Casacavel translates to Rattlesnake, is this a female rattler? or perhaps it's just lost in translation and this is Diamondback.

either way interesting

Well it's a little blurry but the costume certainly reads as Diamondback to me. And Diamondback is a compound word which I don't believe really has a translation to English. I believe the direct translation would be Espalda de Diamante or Espalda Diamante. Similarly Spanish has their own compound words or words with multiple meanings which don't translate well to English. I think the appointment of Cascavel is most likely due to the fact that it is a shorter word and it just sounds cooler than Espalda de Diamante. And in the end a diamondback is a type of rattlesnake. And while I am partly of Hispanic descent I find that the Spanish we speak here in the good old US of A is a chopped up slang of Spanish proper. I think our guy @memocromatico has a better handle on it then me.

Ey oh! Native Spanish speaker from Mexico here. This is Portuguese, but I believe that Cascavel is for Cascabel (I know, huge difference) which is just rattlesnake… I am assuming that’s the name they’re giving Diamondback too. The costume looks to have diamond shapes and is similar in color to her comicbook counterpart (though, if I’m honest, I only know her from her appearance in Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance 2)

Throwing my two cents as a Hispanic myself, they're most likely translating Diamondback to just "Cascavel" in Portuguese because the name of that type of snake is "cascavel-diamante" (lit: "diamond-rattlesnake," the common name does includes the hyphens, but I've also seen it written without them). Calling her "Costas de Diamantes" would be the literal translation of "Diamondback," but it would lose all meaning... and be quite a mouthful.

Similarly, the literal translation of "Diamondback" to Spanish would be "Espalda de Diamantes," "Espalda Diamante" or "Espalda Diamantina," which would lose its meaning and become too wordy as well. I found several variations of its Spanish name, but they're all basically "cascabel (de) diamante(s)" or "cascabel diamantina" (lit: "rattlesnake of diamonds" and "diamond rattlesnake"). So her name might be translated to "Cascabel" as well, but not even worldwide.

I mean the last part because when it comes to localization, there's a distinction between European Spanish and Latin American Spanish. Spaniards are more likely to translate super hero and super villain names, whereas Latin American localizations are more likely keep character codenames in English. This can lead to some issues for Spaniards when translating, they translate Deadpool to "Masacre" (lit: "Carnage"), which led them to translate Carnage to "Matanza" (lit. "Slaughter"). And they translated Wolverine to "Lobezno" (lit. "Wolf Club") because the Spanish name for his animal namesake is glotón (lit. "glutton").

That being said, I think this trend is dying out. Since both Deadpool and Venom went untranslated for their movies in both Latin American and European Spanish, with Spaniards having previously notably translated Venom to "Veneno." Yet, Deadpool & Wolverine is being titled "Deadpool y Lobezno" in Spain.

Well, that was quite the tangent.

Even though the new Captain America: Brave New World movie isn't currently slated to hit theaters until February 14, 2025, McDonald's has already begun officially rolling out their promotional Happy Meal toys for it which you can see below. You will likely also start seeing these in the restaurant's starting this month as well.

We have the SPOILER label on this story only because up until now we have not seen any kind of trailer or such for this movie. However being we are already seeing official product roll outs such as this one from McDonald's, it's pretty clear their is no intention by Marvel Studio's to keep these characters under wraps until the movie see's release. In other words I am sure this is only the first of many ways we will see these characters between now an next February.

The toys themselves appear to be plush type miniature hanging figures, almost like something you might hang on a Christmas tree. There will also be activity sheets given out with the meals and a commercial campaign to go along with the roll-out which is expect to begin this month.

The plush toys being released feature

Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in his new Captain America uniform which differs from the one seen in the Falcon And Winter Soldier Disney+ Series. There is a winged and non-wing version.

Diamondback who in the comics is a member of the serpent society and at one time Steve Rogers girlfriend. In the movie it is said she will be played by actress Rosa Bianca Salazar.

Falcon, now that Sam Wilson is officially Captain America, someone else has taken over the Falcon mantle which in the comics was a character named Joaquín Torres. In the MCU he is played by actor Danny Ramirez who we first saw in the Disney+ Falcon And The Winter Soldier series.

Red Hulk who in the comic is actually General "Thunderbolt" Ross who of course in this movie will be played by Harrison Ford who took over the role from William Hurt who passed away in 2022.

Redwing which in the MCU is Sam's robotic drone created from Stark technology.

Captan America's Shield which was given to Sam by Steve Rogers at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Ruth who in the comics is a Jewish super hero named Sabra, who serves with the Mossad. She is a mutant with enhanced strength and speed. In the movie it has been said the character will be played by actress Shira Haas.

If it looks close enough to the comic version, I don't care.

Yeah I say the same, but if this toy is any indication it's not going to, her outfit is totally not doing it, needs to be more pink less black, I mean at least she has pink hair, I really just want a comic Diamondback

also Sabra not looking anything like her comic counterpart, thats a bit of a bummer.

This movie is still so far off after being pushed back multiple times. February 2025? I figure that we probably won't start to see previews of Legends for that movie until very late this year at the earliest then, right?

I generally only buy MCU figures if there has never been a comic version of the character made before, which means I'd likely be down for Diamondback, Joaquin Torres Falcon and Sabra if they were made. I'd much rather have comic versions of all, though. Zero interest from me in another Sam Cap or MCU Red Hulk or Leader. I'd probably buy a Harrison Ford Thunderbolt Ross figure, though! I'd probably only buy a MCU Red Hulk if it had a mustache like the Maverick version (image below):

I wonder if Diamondback is even actually gonna be in the movie. From the few reports I've read, the Serpent Society was totally scrapped. That would be crazy if they had MCU Serp Society figures made and they never showed up.

This reminds me there was a 3.75 inch Falcon II that got teased years ago but never saw the light of day. I think it may have even made it as far as the back of the box before being scrapped.
