According to Deadline, Amazon has approved a new Marvel show while choosing to cancel a previously approved show. Amazon has officially announced the approval of Noir, a series based on the Marvel comic, which will feature Nicolas Cage as the lead actor. Noir was intended to be the second installment in a collection of live-action Spider-Man Universe series produced for MGM+ and Prime Video.

Silk: Spider Society, the series that received the green light in 2022, is now facing a red light. Despite the absence of an official explanation for the series not progressing, Angela Kang, the showrunner continues to be associated with Amazon MGM Studios. Under her overall deal, Kang will be involved in various other projects.

Amazon continues to uphold its dedication to producing a collection of live-action series centered around the Sony Pictures Universe, featuring a vast array of 900 Marvel characters including Spider-Man and his companions. However, the rights to the Silk character, originally created by Dan Slott and Humberto, have now returned to the primary studio, Sony Pictures Television. Sony Pictures Television is currently exploring opportunities to sell the series to other potential buyers.

Lamorne Morris has been cast as one of the main members of the ensemble alongside Nicolas Cage in Spider-Noir, the upcoming live-action series from MGM+ and Prime Video based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. In this Sony Pictures TV production, which was originally titled Noir but has since been renamed to highlight its ties to the Spider-Man world, Morris will be taking on the character of Robbie Robertson.

Nicolas Cage, who was interviewed by The New Yorker, revealed that the series will comprise of eight episodes, each with a duration of approximately 45 minutes. “Forty-five minutes. I mean, it’s eight episodes. So it’s the equivalent of four movies in five months,” Cage said.

Spider-Noir, developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, depicts the story of an aging private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, as he grapples with his past life as the city's only vigilante.

Morris’ Robbie Robertson demonstrates ambition, diligence, and perseverance. As a dedicated journalist working to achieve success amid challenges as a black professional in 1930s New York, he actively seeks out more daring stories that others avoid to gain recognition and make a living. He is willing to do whatever it takes for his career.

Harry Bradbeer will be directing and executive producing the initial two episodes of the series, which were developed by Uziel and Lightfoot in collaboration with the team from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, including Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, who are also serving as executive producers.

This might be the first Sonyverse thing I'm genuinely excited for. We need more of this, alternate Spider-Men movies instead of Spider-Manless Spider-Man villain/supporting character movies. I'd love to see a live action 2099, Gwen, Miles, Punk, India. Heck, even a Patton Parnell horror movie would be better than what they've been doing.
