Whooooa Death's Head!

spacer.pngI couldn't have even fathomed this would be the SDCC exclusive, or even coming out any time soon, I've always hoped for this guy, and what a box presentation, everything about this screams must have for me.

Please don't make this hard to get, gotta have it.

Shown below via IGN is a look at the new SDCC 2024 Marvel Legends Series Death's Head Figure from Hasbro..

Death's Head has had an interesting journey at Marvel Comics, beginning life as a minor Transformers character before spinning out into his own series in the Marvel Universe. Finally, this robotic bounty hunter is being added to the long-running Marvel Legends line. Death's Head comes with six accessories, including a shield and ax, and he comes packaged inside a box inspired by the character's vintage collector's card.

Price: $39.99

SDCC 2024 marks the first year in a while that Hasbro will be directly selling its exclusives at the show rather than offering preorders and shipping the items out later. However, you won't simply be able to walk up to Hasbro's booth and buy these figures on a whim. Collectors will first need to head to the Comic-Con Exclusives Portal and reserve a time slot. Note that you'll need a valid SDCC badge to be able to reserve a slot. At that point, collectors can head to the Hasbro booth (#3213) and purchase the figures at the indicated time.

Hasbro's Comic-Con Exclusives Portal will open on Monday, July 8 and close on Thursday, July 18. Also note that select quantities of these figures will be made available on the Hasbro Pulse website after SDCC is over, but we'd expect demand to far exceed supply.

Im happy this is the SDCC exclusive, do I want it? Yes of course, do I need it to pay ridiculous prices like some people had to do with the Hellfire Set? No, I can continue my life if I dont get it. Lets see who bring him to Mexico, here is not a super well known character.

It may sound odd, but I'm actually mildly relieved that Odin is "only" going to be $50. Now I'm wondering how much the Phoenix is going to be.....

Are people going to be ticked off if the rock that everyone is making such a big deal about is just an accessory for the leaked deluxe movie Colossus? 😆 🤣

Does the movie Colossus look like that? That almost works for the Outback era.

The one thing I liked from the Covid era was not getting screwed by the SDCC. The whole SDCC exclusive being available at the same time from Pulse was really nice. Definitely did not miss paying 50 bucks a figure for multipacks on ebay. Especially when they re released some as bafs or repaints later i.e. Enchantress, Abomination, Brother Voodoo ect.

So, I guess it's back to overpaying for them. Maybe if I get on right away I'll be able to snag one off Pulse. I really like this character and the figure looks great, but maybe I'll just have to pass if ebay is my only option. I don't wanna go back to that.

I don't see why given Death's Head is a Marvel Character

He was a marvel character that was created to appear in the Transformers comic as well as appearing in the Doctor Who comic. He is one of those characters that Marvel can use in their comic but merchandising is a whole other story.

I just hope I can get him

I want to say I'm not going to worry too much about missing out on this Death's Head figure. I love it. It is the only Death's Head I ever read though I did know about the other one from the GOTG wave. I think the demand for this thing will be so huge that even if this thing does sell out and many of us get left out in the cold Hasbro will take the opportunity to make enough money out of this that they can change the color palette a bit or add or remove some details or accessories and put it in a slightly less complicated box and re-release it at a later time in a more available matter. That's what I want to think. And as far as all these recent re-releases go this one would make more sense then all of them. That's what I want to think and I don't want to stress about it too much but in the end Hasbro gonna do what Hasbro do and we could possibly never see it again. But as far as that goes I'll leave it to the history of characters like Manthing, Monster Venom, Space Venom, Venompool and Kingpin to decide how likely a re-release of this figure may be.

Well, the obvious colour change would be his Transformers colours

I kind of get why this is an sdcc exclusive. There must have been a load of legal loophole they had to undo to get this made.

I've been meaning to look into it and it's just been something I never made time for but since you are here. What exactly are the legal issues here?. Was this a character that was owned by a private creator that got sold or loaned to Marvel? Similar to Angela. I know it was under the Marvel UK imprint with characters like Motormouth and Overkill and I thought Terror Inc. Is that a separate company from which Marvel never got full control of this character?

Nevermind. I just read your other posts. Just stepped away from my computer mid sentence and did not refresh before I resumed. It just seems strange that if Marvel owns the character they should be able to do whatever they want with it. Why give him his own comic if there was any conditions as to how he could be used. Plus the fact that Hasbro owns not only Transformers but the master license for Marvel products. I'm sure there's some kind of road block in the whole situation but if there's money to be made I think Hasbro and Marvel can come to some sort of agreement.

No, those pics weren't necessarily meant to look like movie Colossus. They were just ones I grabbed from the web of Colossus with a large rock above his head like Dwight did in a pose in his tease. I only posted that because I though that the Deadpool/Wolverine movie figs might get shown today (wrong!) like I knew the Funko Pops were scheduled to be.

Everyone has gotten so worked up over that rock tease and there has been so much speculation that I just looked at what was still remaining from the Rektangular leaks that haven't been formally revealed yet and said "why can't it just be that?". To my knowledge nothing like an arcade game Sentinel, Avalanche, Terrax (and whatever other guesses have been) has shown up on a leak list yet like that Colossus has. That's all. It was just me speculating exactly just like everyone else has been doing and saying "are people going to be ticked if it's just this?" after all of the wild speculation over what it could be teasing. I don't even generally buy movie figures so it's certainly not what I am personally hoping for (although it would still be a little fun to be right about it, of course).

I was a little disappointed that Odin ended up being $60 instead of $50, but only a little bit because honestly $60 was what I was expecting all along. I expect the Phoenix deluxe will be the same. That Phoenix figure could end up being my favorite of the year and I usually detest re-makes of previously made characters/figures.

I've seen more Transformers fans excited about this than Marvel Legends fan.

Lol. I'd say we're about 80 percent interchangeable. I'm a fan of the old Transformers. This junk Hasbros been putting out over the last 15 years or so are a far cry from the Transfomers I remember. I do buy the Takara Tomy figures on occasion though but they are crazy expensive compared to what TF used to be back then.
